They were very kind and professional and helped keep the morning on schedule. Sana did a beautiful job with the makeup for my Bridesmaids. And Zoey did gorgeous natural glam for me and also helped my more senior mom with her makeup (my mom has alopecia and Zoey gave her beautiful false lashes and natural looking eyebrows). *Important note: I didn't do a trial* For my hair, I asked for more beachy curls, and specifically not a super polished curled look. Zoey did a gorgeous half pinned detail in the back, but the curls were far too tight and didn't look like the images I shared. She assured me she'd adjust to make the curls more relaxed but we ran out of time so I ended up having to do some fixing myself to get the look I wanted. I think she wasn't expecting my hair to take curls so well! Ultimately I was a bit disappointed that the hair wasn't totally what I wanted, but since I didn't do a trial and there was no time left for adjustments to be made, I made peace with it. Still a great experience, and I recommend doing a trial. Great value, lovely ladies and overall beautiful glam done by this team!

During the trial she was very detailed and took lots of time to make sure that I was happy with the final look, and on the wedding day the whole team that came (we had a large bridal party, and Mink will provide more assistants to the main artist to make sure that you finish on time) was fantastic. What was important for me too was that everyone had very good hygiene standards when doing our makeup, so nobody was worried about cold sores or breaking out from contaminated product. I specifically wanted my hair blow-dried with a round brush for a smooth, polished finish. Instead, the stylist focused on creating curls, which I did not request. I also felt that the stylist struggled with the actual blow-drying technique and did not seem comfortable or confident working with my hair using a round brush. Unfortunately, once I got home, I also noticed that blue shampoo had been left around my ears, which was disappointing and something I would have expected to be checked before I left the salon. Despite no Yelp reviews at the time, the website had some awesome pictures so I decided to contact Karin to arrange for a time. I e-mailed on Saturday morning - Karin got back to me that same morning for an appointment on Monday afternoon. I put my payment in through Paypal and was all set to go. Easy peasy. Karin's makeup studio is on the 2nd floor of a commercial building shared with another business. I was a little confused about where to go but once I was there it was all good. Her studio overlooks Jonathan Rogers park so other than the scenic view, there is a fantastic amount of natural light that brightens up the studio. I had my eyelashes done at a place nearby (Kinjou Lashes) so I did not do anything related with lashes. Karin asked me several questions related to my skin type, the jewellery I would wear with my outfit, and was open to any specific requests that I had. To be quite honest, I'm a make-up newbie so I left all the creative decisions to Karin and she did great! My make up session went by really quickly (approx. 1 hour) and Karin was quite personable and chatty - it was like doing make-up with an old friend. She uses high quality products - unfortunately I can't name them all but it included MAC, yaby, YSL (the touche eclat) and her makeup brushes were high-quality & soft. She was also nice enough to put together a mini touch up kit for my lips that I could use later in the evening after dinner (she thinks ahead!). Overall - it was quite fun & Karin was great. I got plenty of compliments about my make-up that day so the investment was totally worth it - perhaps I will go back for some make-up classes in the future!

I have been going to Salon 88 for more than five years mainly to get Keratin hair treatment. I have long thick curly black hair and I am always so grateful for this service. Goli joon and her team are hardworking and super kind and do a great job with Keratin. They listen to their clients to see what they want and try their best to meet their needs. They are quite knowledgeable about the latest trends and provide useful tips and advise on how to maintain healthy hair, which is so valuable. I am always happy leaving their salon and its the only place I trust to go to no matter where I am in the world. I have done other treatments such as hair cut and eyebrow shaping at this salon and have been satisfied with these as well. I have witnessed many men hair cuts by Mahyar from hours spent at this salon and I can attest to the fact that he transforms the looks of his male clients. Highly recommend Salon 88 for all your beauty needs!!! read more

Goli and Mayer are amazing at what they do. I came here for highlights and keratin treatment. I have thick hair, and lots of it! Usually it's difficult to colour my hair and I feel the stylist losing patience when it takes endless hours to colour or dry my hair. Goli didn't rush or make me feel that it was a burden to her (believe me, I felt that way at some other salons I visited). I really appreciated her warm and kind nature. Both the colour and the keratin treatment came out looking great and I'm super happy with my overall look now. I also sent brought my boyfriend here to get his haircut because I saw Mayer sending off client after client looking like male models. Mayer shaped and styled his cut to perfection. Mayhar has been a godsend for my hairstyle. I had been with my previous hair stylist for a couple of years trying to sort my situation out. They simply buzzed all my "trouble hair" and left the front to cover it, although this never really came to fruition. My hair would look good for a week, two weeks, tops. First time with Mayhar he completely changed everything. I started getting a tonne of compliments. Even though he told me he needed 3 months to get it to where he would be happy with it, after the first month I was stoked. I kid you not, Vikram Vij himself told me my hair is perfect while I was sitting in his restaurant. Go see Mayhar. You won't regret it. Chris read more

Love this place. I've been coming here ever since I moved to Vancouver. Recently, I got the keratin treatment. It's been one of the most wonderful things I've done for myself in a long time. I usually have frizzy, unruly hair (especially in Vancouver's humid, rainy climate); but now my hair is smooth and polished. Don't forget to buy the Keratin Complex shampoo and conditioner to make the results last longer! I'm going on 3 months and it's as good as the day I left the salon. Just last week I had my hair dyed by Mona. She helped me find the perfect shade and made sure it was compatible with the keratin treatment. I called the salon in advance and told them that I have had a booking for today! The receptionist without hearing me out - said you don't have any booking. I was like ... clueless because he didn't ask me for my name or anything. I told him and he remained consistent that you don't have any appointment. I didn't receive a confirmation, he said so no booking!! I don't know what is said - I didn't get the appointment or their website is misleading!! He refused to accommodate and didn't bother to offer for the next available date. He was straightforward rude. Disappointing!! Picture for reference

For a simple men's cut, its totally fine, and their prices are super reasonable especially for the west end. I would err on getting a classic cut rather than something new and trendy. I could be wrong but that is the vibe i got. Depending on who you get, you may have a language barrier too. But they know how to cut hair, so rest easy. If you're expecting to be pampered like in a spa or upscale hair salon with a gentle experience, then this is not the place. It is right down to business: sit down, what cut do you want, boom lets get cutting. You can just walk in, no reservations. Turnover is relatively quick. They take cash or E-transfer. Overall, good neighborhood place to get a haircut, great value. I would come back.

I am pretty allergic to most hair dyes and Mais was very caring and helpful and actually discovered a sensitive scalp ammonia free hair dye company at the salon already and I had no reaction whatsoever. The online booking system was pretty easy to use (though parts of it were in Japanese and a little challenging) and we were able to get in the same day, and the next day for me. Both stylists we had were precise, good listeners with respect to what we wanted, and personable. My daughter's layered haircut looked amazing! They were even able to make "space buns" for her and it looked so cute. 10yo was thrilled. We went on weekday afternoons and the salon was quiet, with just 1 or 2 other customers. There's a nice sofa for waiting, lots of plants, and the place itself is clean and bright inside. I'd definitely go back there when I'm in town again. No regrets for this one-off haircut on vacation :)
