To top it off, they auto-add a 20% gratuity and will question you in front of other customers if you try to adjust it. This feels like a business charging for its "prime location" rather than the quality of its work. Save your money and find a local professional who can actually deliver a lift.

From there you wait in a separate waiting area which offers complimentary granola, water and tea. You do not wait very long. When it is time for your service, a spa worker will bring you to your designated area based on what service you are there for. I have visited the spa twice this year for pedicures and both times have been wonderful experiences. The pedicure area is very clean and sanitary. (Late to the manicure party - particularly the gel-kind - I've still had several dozen manicures over the years. There've been issues here and there, but nothing like the outcome from the use of this shellac sh*t.) Should I get another manicure in this area I will be specific in seeking a place that does NOT use the product. My nails were done on a Wednesday afternoon (and they were super-cute!) By Saturday afternoon I was back in getting my chipped index finger fixed. Sunday my other index finger chipped. In less than a weeks time I had chips in 4 nails (not including the index fingers). One week and one day in the polish lifted and peeled on both middle fingers. (The silver lining, I suppose: I wasn't flipping you off! I was showing you my defective manicure...) I'm guessing I COULD have gone back for the other index finger to be fixed, but not having had this as my experience (with the exception of the prior months shellac sh*t manicure) I was sensitive to calling back. I'm not good at remembering to take photos, but I have one here where you can see the beautiful color/depth (and this was just normal highlights, no bayelage or anything like that). The half-up do was exactly what I wanted, and despite the loose, swirly style, it was SOLID and lasted through wind, sweat (the kind in a hot commercial kitchen, we're not messing around here) for 12 hours. I actually wrapped my hair in a silk scarf and slept in it so I could have the style one more day, and it totally worked. Probably would have lasted 3 days if I'd cared to. I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes here, and even with complicated procedures I've always gotten out on time. They don't double book which is awesome because I hate paying to have my schedule disrespected! MAKEUP Honestly, I won't go anywhere else for makeup. I've gone to 3 other places in town because Moxie was booked on the date I needed service, and I always felt like I looked like a teenager who tried to look like a grown up. You can see for yourself in the picture, the makeup job at Moxie is subtle and oh so effective. Elegant, with a sensibility for my skin tone and natural lighting. As with the hair, the makeup stood up to hours of sweat. Was sad to have to take it off because it is the best I've ever looked EXTENSIONS I've had hair extensions and eyelash extensions done here. I am NOT an ideal candidate for either of these processes because I'm hard on my body (working out, recreational sports, physically demanding work life, little time spent on self maintenance other than hygiene). I've had eyelash extensions off and on for 10 years now, pretty regularly for ~2 years back in NYC and these lashes ROCK by comparison. In the pictures you see, I've spent a week running hard, training for a half marathon, swimming in lake water, showering in untreated cabin water, and possibly occasionally smearing a bit of anti wrinkle eye cream too close to my lashes. And yet, they remain (and don't itch or scratch). Hair extensions were awesome and they're very fast at re-installing them (or whatever you would call it) but they're just too high maintenance for my lifestyle. (And pricy! They were initially a birthday gift, so it was a fun experiment!)
