if i could give you zero stars i would- i modeled for him in iceland yearsssss ago, never got back one single photo. never got paid. never even had a makeup artist which was supposed to be there. he would go drinking with his "fellow photographer attendees" at night instead of teaching us more about the craft, come back to the air b n b drunk as hell yelling at 4am.....also, when i ventered out on my own to get another photographer local to photograph me, he was upset even though that was my "day off" . i just want my photos. i don't even care about the payment. read more

JB is an extremely arrogant, rude, an unprofessional person who should not own a business. He has been reported to the BBB several times and tends to lie and throw tantrums when things do not go his way. I attended one of his workshops pre-COVID and it was unorganized and he seemed unmotivated. He complained about having to travel because he was overbooked and that he was tired, so as a result, the workshop felt like a waste of time. Unfortunately for me, I also signed up for an international workshop around the same time and it ended up being cancelled due to COVID. He refused to give refunds, claiming that the workshops were "postponed" rather than cancelled, even though he offers these every year so those are clearly different events. He did not communicate at all when COVID was a factor in this workshop and only reached out days prior. If attendees did not want to go on another workshop a year later, he blocked them and would not respond to any communication. A few people were threatened, others lied to. There is no sense of empathy or fairness and he tends to look out for himself rather than doing what is right. His partner and wife seems to turn a blind eye to the bad business practices. He (somehow) has a lot of friends who post positive reviews to offset his bad ones or they take down negative ones in photography groups so I am hoping people choose someone else when they are looking for someone to hire for workshops or photography needs. Negative stars would be left if it was possible. I have never had a worse experience with a human being or "business". read more

I modeled for one of their workshops last minute because he failed to get any models prior. I was promised pictures after the shoot so I did it for free. Afterwards he ignored all contact I tried to make with him and even blocked me on social media. Very disappointed with how unprofessional he is. read more

I did not have a good experience with his international workshops. He changed the photography workshop around just a couple of months before we were supposed to leave and took away an overnight stay in the second location. After we were forced to reschedule, due to Coronavirus and his refusal to refund anyone, he did not communicate with anyone in the workshop for months and did not provide details about the new trip. I requested a refund since this wasn't what I had paid for, but he still refused to give me one. I later left a negative review on blog post and he threaten to sue me. Later in the same conversation he offered to give me half my deposit back if I agreed not to say anything else about him. He never gave me any money back, so I'm leaving another review here. I have lost thousands of dollars in this workshop. I'm sure they are not all like this, but please use a credit card or bank card if you choose to do business with him. If you have the same issues at least you can get a refund. Feel free to contact me if you have had similar experiences with his workshops. Seems there are a lot of us, with very little places to leave reviews that don't get deleted. read more

Disrespectful people. If you even question their cost they choose to tell you if you EVEN have extra money for pics call us then. Our current photographer in Flower Mound is 9 months pregnant so needed another. If you want to do business with blatantly disrespectful people this is your company. I just recommended Sallee Photography to a friend tonight and saw their Yelp review and just can't let that be the only review about them!!! The best part of our wedding was the wonderful photography and the unique portraiture style of JD and DeEtte. Our engagement photos, our bridal photos, the boudoir photos and our wedding photos were AMAZING. Their portraiture package included ALL of our wedding photos - which is super unique in wedding photography world. And the box they come in probably could be ordered online for cheaper, but Sallee is in the business of TAKING beautiful photos and they obviously need to mark up the vessels in which they deliver their artful photographs. I love my photo boxes - and I got one for each photo shoot which was included in my package - engagement, bridal, boudoir, and wedding - and I was happy to give that business to Sallee Photography. Shooting with them was so much fun and they really help you come out of your shell to help you be your best on camera. DeEtte shot our engagement photos, JD shot our bridal, boudoir and wedding and they are both great to work with. They really help you take your best photos and their approach and style is UNIQUE which is great. You aren't going to get photos like anyone else you know. They also have a unique treatment of the portraits which we love (glaze, photo wrap, acrylic, etc. They also made it very clear to us that, as they got to know us through multiple photo shoots, that they would assemble our wedding album. We were allowed a few changes to the book at no charge and additional changes were possible, but were charged a fee. As it was, they assembled the PERFECT wedding album for us and we did not need to incur additional fees. It was also really nice that we didn't need to sift through hundreds of photos to figure out what to include in our album - Sallee did that for us! What's more, I can't imagine they would have put a boudoir photo into our wedding album. They did love the treatment of one of my boudoir photos and wanted to post it on their Facebook page, but I told them I wasn't comfortable and they completely understood. They are very professional, timely and respectful of your special day. We were happy with their availability, their professionalism, their unique approach, their timing, and the products we delivered. We paid a fair amount of money but would spend it again in a heartbeat. I have never seen such special and unique wedding photography before and would recommend Sallee without hesitation. Please consider asking for a referral before you make a decision based on Yelp reviews! read more

We paid $12,000 for our photography with Sallee. They were "nice" people but not what we expected. From the get go we had a terrible time scheduling with them. They failed to tell us they were going on a trip for the whole summer. I didn't even receive bridals. We only had a couple of days a week to work with our schedule and JB in particular was rude. We didn't receive our wedding photos for approximately a year after the wedding. We were actually disappointed bc they sent us our box with photos that were just regular CVS like photos. The ones we were sold on had a white border and looked much nicer. We had to ask them to send us a whole new set bc they looked like crap. By the way the box can be bought online for way cheaper than what they charge. I beat myself up over paying so much and the service and photography was sub par. They were extremely difficult to work with! I hope this helps future brides-it stressed me out beyond belief! They don't seem to genuinely care about their bride/grooms. We asked JB to redo our acrylic pano bc it wasn't exactly what we had asked for. There was a lot of extra black space at the top. He promised to remove it and send us new one. He said he mailed it to our home but we never received this $1900 item. He actually tried to charge us more for it but we called him out on it. We ended up just asking him to give us back our original bc it was way too much trouble and we never received our new delivery. He actually never sent it, he just told us a lie. Very unprofessional and sad. JB will also ignore you until he is ready to respond. You will email him again then he is rude to you. We got into a fight over the phone and my husband was like - "are you serious". He couldn't believe that someone we paid that much to could be so rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful. Facebook is a whole different story. He will go off on go about his clients. He gets so mad when you try to contact him in multiple ways and then makes you feel horrible for trying to reach him even though you are the paying client. If you pay $12,000 for photography you expect the best. We can't even display our $2500 wedding album because he added one of my boudoir photos to the album that I do not want every guest to see. We specifically picked out each photo for our book and he somehow added one of me in my lingerie. They are laughable. Our wedding was in Sept 2013 and I haven't had time to write a review but trust me I have told lots of people about their behavior. They are nice people but horrible to work with especially for one of the most important days of your life! Not to mention they are super expensive for what you get. They are overpriced and under deliver in my opinion and I've heard that from a few people since we hired them. read more

Sallee Photography has been photographing my family for many years! They are always professional, sweet people and AMAZING photographers. We have done a wedding with lots of fun sessions and now my children and family as we grow. We love that our pictures never look like everyone else's. Never a bad experience with them.
