In October 2022,took customer's engine reciprocating assembly, (newly ground/polished crankshaft…read morefrom another machine shop,new chromoly rods and pistons etc for balancing.All parts were perfect when delivered to this shop.Doug (owner) took info and would be done in a week.Go back to pick up engine components and noticed that crankshaft journals were scratched and one rod journal had a deep gouge.The grinding to balance a NEW set of expensive chromoly rods were barbarically ground on a bench grinder with a coarse wheel instead of a proper sanding belt resulting in deep stress risers left that looked as though an eight year old was set loose on it.The pistons were damaged when poorly ground for balancing resulting in compromising the strength of the pistons. When management was contacted about damage and unacceptable workmanship, management denied all and stated that it was like that when I brought the items in,despite having the items in plain view and informing that all parts are perfect,new and for him to view the items at that time before proceeding. It has cost me another $1600 in parts and machining to correct the undertakings of this incompetent,overpriced business.I would not recommend this business any more than I would recommend parents allowing their children to play in traffic. I will be continuing to take my customers' engine machine work to Kelowna and Vancouver.

I couldn't even leave a message to see why I never got my radiator. I called monday they said they were going to send it to the Falkland store and I can pick it up there, this angered me as I was told they would ship it to me so after a few choice words I received it at my house that afternoon .

These guys provided the BEST experience I've ever had at a mechanic…read more I was driving into Kamloops off the highway and my truck had been making a weird noise and was getting progressively worse. Since I needed to keep heading north for another couple hours, I decided to get it looked at. I didn't spend too much time looking up reviews, just wanted to find a place nearby. I called Southgate and while they warned me they were closing soon and may not be able to repair anything, they said they'd at least take a look. I showed up, they asked a few questions, and then took the truck in while my girlfriend and I waited outside. About 20 mins later the guy called us back into the office where one of the mechanics explained that a rod connecting the A/C compressor to the engine had failed and was causing overheating and the noise. He said that if I had kept driving, the whole engine would have seized up! Amazing! These guys just saved me thousands of dollars and being stranded for days. They disconnected the compressor and removed the plate and now, while the AC wouldn't work, the engine was safe to drive. When I asked how much I owed them, they politely waived me off. "No charge" they said. I tried to insist, but it was no use. Have you ever heard of such a thing?! These guys are not only pros, they're damn honest and community minded. I live down in Vancouver so can't throw much business their way, but if you live around Kamloops, choose Southgate and support a business who cares about people and goes above and beyond -- even when they don't need to. Five stars is not nearly enough.

I was visiting my cousin in kamloops and blew a tire on the side of the freeway. I had contacted…read moremy cousin and her fiancée and they were on their way to help. Meanwhile a very kind gentleman, Conner Petrie, who works for ok tire kamloops stopped to help change the tire. Though i knew how to and was in yhe midst of changing it, i was doing so with the meager tire uron supplied with yhe car. Conner used his power equipment to quicken the change. I offered to pay him but he refused. Out of his generosity to help others, i am thankful he offered his help. Thank you again for the assistance Conner
