    Sashimi

Sashimi selection from Sakura Blue. The toro and Salmon belly were amazing. Sat at the sushi bar and watched them make all kinds of sushi that looked great. First time back here in a couple of years and was really good.

Amazing once again! Clean and fast service. Our server was friendly. Food was delicious! We had the Kens roll (its a bit spicy-but yum!)and the crazy dragon -has some spicy hits but Kens roll was more spicy. Our miso soup and house salad was on point. The tempura shrimp and veggies were yummy. The Yellowtail sashimi was very fresh. Our last time here was a while ago and they haven't lost their touch-after 7 years. Highly recommend this place.

Traditional sushi, and I've had wonderful experiences here. I wanted to share this dish/experience in case anyone has an aversion to eating off of aluminum foil. This is Bulgogi.

Pricing: Reasonable Service & Atmosphere: Above Average Taste: Average This was a good place to grab a bite to eat for lunch. However, I wish they would start at 11:00 instead of 11:30 for lunch.

I really wanted to love it. I've heard quite a few good things. Their sushi reviews were all good & we got their hibachi. Our gyoza came out cold but It really had a good flavor. I got their filet & chicken hibachi. The meat was cooked good & also had good flavor. My veggies were still pretty crunchy. I prefer mine more well done. I would ask for well done. The rice didn't have much flavor but I did add their mustard sauce to take it up a notch. Overall it was just okay. Maybe I need to go back for their Sushi menu.

I had the teriyaki chicken fried rice and scallops with soup and salad. I enjoyed my salad and soup. I enjoyed the fried rice as well but thought that my plate should have been cleaner. My server was great she was very attentive and very nice. Ambiance good.

i'll start by saying the food tasted good. we shared vegetable tempura, each got a ginger salad and soup, and our meals. I'm not certain if service was bad because they were busy and understaff but it took probably 10 minutes of being sat before a server even looked at us. the food came out without a long wait, but our server didn't really check on us. we had to catch a random employee if we need drinks refilled or even the check. My husband's serving size was reasonable for the price (the stone pot dish) but my dish (the teriyaki beef) was at most 4oz of steak... if you take the sauce off the plate they served very little food despite almost being $20. Other japanese place I have been probably serve twice this for the same price. The restaurant is really beautiful decorated and i enjoyed the vibes, just wish it were better service and better pricing.

The food is delicious and the sushi is on point! I am always looking for new sushi places to try out. This place did not disappoint. I would gladly bring my friends to this place. Fast seating and service is on point as well. But don't take my word for it. Stop in and try your food. Your stomach will thank me later.

QUALITY OVER QUANTITY!!! So good. Asked to be surprised and everything was AMAZING! Highly recommend! This is the ultimate foodie must try if you're in Louisville and you love sushi like we do!! You can definitely taste the love and care the sushi chef in each and every single piece!! The food is delicious that leaves a feeling of fullness without feeling overstuffed. My favorite one? TZ Roll!!

Dinner date with my college son, these times can't be beat. He wanted hibachi but Shogun has gotten so run down that we decided on Sakura Blue. I'd eaten here years ago and liked it but forget about it being tucked away in Shelbyville Plaza. We were greeted and quickly seated near a large party. A bit loud as we tried to converse but manageable. My son ordered a crispy shrimp, cream cheese, avocado sushi roll to try and teriyaki steak with vegetables and rice with ginger salad and the broth like soup. I ordered chicken teriyaki with vegetables, rice, and the salad and broth. Our food came in a timely manner and was fresh and delicious! Vibrant colorful veggies, a delicious teriyaki sauce not crazy salty, and tender pieces of chicken. Delicious! Pricing is even better than some other local spots and the food and service very good. No "show" or hibachi table to sit around but the food quality seemed way better and we enjoyed the time catching up without the hoopla of a hibachi performance. Great lunch specials and pricing if able to go there Monday-Friday in the right timeframe!

They've remodeled and upped their offerings. Highly recommend the new style sashimi special. 9 pieces and you pick three different fish. We had tuna, white tuna and salmon. All super fresh and delicious. No rice. A bed of high quality lettuces with sesame ponzu dressing. Good ginger house salad. Another of my favorites is the Love Wrap also without rice so great if you prefer low carb. Chic atmosphere and friendly, quick service. Conveniently located next to Trader Joe's.

I've been going to Samurai for date nights and friend dinners for years and every roll is huge and fresh, and I always have great service. Good sushi is hard to find in land locked Kentucky! Samurai must have great sources for their fish because the freshness is very apparent, every time I go. Favorite rolls: Mark's Roll, Happy Sunday, Texas Roll, Barbie's Favorite, Sakura Roll, and Midnight Roll but truthfully, you cannot go wrong. We heard the story of our favorite roll! The Mark's roll was named after a very kind soul that was a friend of the restaurant that sadly passed away. He loved spicy food and was the light of the room, so the fried jalalpeno and flaming plate make the perfect homage to him. The love and care Samurai has for their customers and the community is unmatched! Come cute with 15 people, or in your pajamas with your bestie. The atmosphere is very welcoming; casual but romantic still. Either way come ready to EAT!

The second was completely off--overripe, heavy blackberry notes, clearly oxidized and not the same quality wine. This is what happens when a bottle has been open too long. When I pointed it out, instead of addressing it professionally, the server repeatedly insisted it was from the same bottle and argued with me. That's not just poor service--that's dismissive and borderline insulting. I wasn't trying to get out of paying. I explicitly said I would pay for the glass and not drink it--which I did. I left the full glass on the table. At that point, the appropriate response would have been to move on. Instead, the argument continued. For context, I spent 22 years in the wine and spirits industry. I know the difference--but frankly, anyone could have smelled and tasted how off that wine was. I still paid and tipped 20%, but the issue isn't the charge--it's the way this was handled. Arguing with a customer instead of listening is unacceptable. Do better.

I went with my partner and ordered the Miso Soup, Rainbow Roll (replaced shrimp with yellow tail) and a Vegetable Fried Rice. Listen. The fried rice is absolutely where it's at. You wanna talk savory? This is it. Flavor? Yes, it's all here. Quantity? Surely something that tastes so comforting and warm would be scarce. NOPE! They LOAD your plate with fried rice, it's like a compact mountain of deliciousness whose savory goodness pairs extremely well with the mellow, soothing flavor of their Miso Soup. Their Rainbow Roll was also very good, especially with the portion size. It has a fresh taste where it lets you know it was made the moment before it got to your table. I replaced the shrimp only because my partner is allergic to crawfish and I wanted her to try some, but I've had it with shrimp before and recommend you have it with it. I focused a lot on the comfortable vibes here because I think that's what Osaka excels at. Eating here is like going to visit your mom after a while and she makes you your favorite dish just how you remember it. Maybe you've had a better tasting version of it somewhere else, but this is MOM's cooking. Its flavors are great, the portion size is great, and it's made with love and care; with you in mind. For a modest price you get bang for your buck here, absolutely come give this place a try if you're in the area.

At first, I was a little off put as the restaurant was a little dingy and kind of unclean in parts, but someone came out to the floor and worked a bit on the mess while we ate our meal so that was eventually addressed. My sushi was fresh, my teriyaki was flavorful and most importantly the tofu was battered and deep fried perfectly! A close second to Heart & Soy and trust me as a vegetarian for 5 years, pescatarian for 3, that is GOOD COMPANY to be in when it comes to the best tofu! Ultimately the food is well made and well priced. The portion was huge for $16.99! I feel like it came out pretty quick and I wasn't a fan of the yum yum sauce..it was a bit sweet and didn't taste like the normal sauce I am use to back home. The space was overall nice and it seems as though it could get pretty loud when you're already a large group sitting with a large group of people. I also noticed a lot of gnats flying, this is something that is common at restaurants obviously. But it became a bit annoying when one landed on my lip as I was talking and started flying over my food. I lost my appetite after that and decided to box my food up. Overall, the service is what made me give this place 5 stars! It seems like they have pretty good sushi from what my friends were saying but I wouldn't come for anything else.

Service is always good, the ambiance is a bit bland. And frankly, none of these extraneous considerations matter to me! When I go out for sushi, I just want it to be plentiful and delicious. For reasons I have yet to contemplate and unpack, I don't really look at ordering sushi as a fine-dining experience where the service and the venue and the decor and the menu diversity all factor in much. To me, either your sushi rolls are top-notch or they're not. And by this rubric, Oishii is unrivaled in Louisville, KY. One can argue that Sapporo's happy hour is a better value, or that the Dragon King's Daughter's bento box is the best bang for your buck sushi lunch. But no one can accurately claim to have better sushi than Oishii. Here are my ratings for rolls I have tried: Koi 9 Highlander 8.5 Hot 8.5 Aloha 8 Crazy Eel 8 Zen 8 2in1 7.5 Hawaiian 7.5 Volcano 7 Lieutenant 7 Big Daddy 7 Sunset 7 Derby 6 Spicy Tuna 6 Spicy Salmon 5 I also appreciate that Oishii isn't stingy with their pickled ginger.
