Break Bread not Hearts was a food vendor at an outdoor festival in White Plains. He was recommended…read moreto me as an option since I usually patronize the same vendors each year. You can image my surprise when I was confronted with the worst customer I have ever experienced. The young lady taking the orders gave misinformation about payment accepted and then was rude barely opening her mouth to interact with me as she was taking my order and as I was PAYING for my food. When it was brought to the owners attention he berated me in front of the other customers waiting for food. He never once apologized and kept making excuses about it being hot. If its too hot then as they say you should stay out of the kitchen. I did not expect this from someone whose brand is cooking with love. I give the food a 4 out of 5. It was different and flavorful. Customer service ZERO!!!!

However after placing my fifth order, they neglected to deliver more than half of my groceries for the week. I contacted customer service via phone. She never called me back. I contacted customer service a 2nd time and was told that they would deliver the missing groceries before 10 PM tonight. I was fine even if it delivered tomorrow or Sunday. Then I checked my email and they went ahead and issued me a store credit. I clearly stated I wanted my groceries. Now they expect me to place a new order to deliver next week? I want my money back. I called customer service a 3rd time. She called me back at midnight and issued a credit back onto my card. Awful customer service, lack of communication & poor execution! Additionally, they missed one item from a previous order and gave me the wrong item for this order. That's a 50% success rate. I am taking my business elsewhere.

It took a while b4 I got a text saying that my food was ready. I went to the counter and no one was there. A woman came eventually and apparently my food had been sitting on the unmanned counter for who knows how long. Someone placed the food there, walked away and didn't bothered to look up and talk to the 3 patrons in the store to let them know that an order was ready. On to the food. My salad had 6 small, measly cubes of beef and a small amount of lettuce. 60% of the bowl was disproportionately filled with baba ghanoush and tzatziki. I like those as dips, not in place of an entree. On top of allll that dip, there's an additional side of green goddess dressing. Love that dressing, but seems over kill to put dressing on my dips. The one bright note is the warm, thick and fluffy pita. That might've been the best pita I've ever had.

Every time I wanted to eat empanadas, I had to bake my own, and I usually prepare only one flavor because it is a lot of work... Back home, I was used to order empanadas of many different flavors and get them delivered whenever I had guests or I didn't want to cook. I was so happy when last year I found out about Jackie's Empanadas On the Go! I immediately placed an order and went to pick up my empanadas from their kitchen in Stamford (not a front store). I ordered frozen empanadas to stock up my freezer. They came with baking instructions and they came out perfect! I loved her empanadas but driving almost 1 hour from New Haven is not something I can do often. Last week, planning for Thanksgiving dinner, we decided to order empanadas again. I ordered online and I contacted Jackie to arrange pick up and luckily she was going to be in a holiday market in Westport that weekend, so she offered me to pick up there, saving me some driving time. We ordered Mushroom, Caprese, Ham & Cheese, Beef Malbec and Knife-Cut Steak. They were all a success! Our guests loved them! Also, when I went to pick up the empanadas, I bought a box of Alfajores de maicena (cornstarch cookie sandwich filled with dulce de leche) and a box of Medialunas (Argentinian croissants). They were absolutely delicious!!!! I wish I lived closer to order more often, but I will definitely order food from Jackie's again!
