The professors involved are incompetent and should not be getting paid to *link me an outdated textbook and link me to a youtube tutorial from some random guy back in 2014* and literally nothing else. They also can't seem to use common sense and provide clear instruction, such as course assignment due dates ANYWHERE- which you would think is the bare minimum a student could ask for. That, and I don't know, any communication in general from the actual professors, most of which have been radio silent and don't even answer help forums/questions from their students. :) Do not waste your money, effort, or time. This might as well be a scam.

They clearly do not review course content or instruction or assignments. I would NEVER hire anyone who has a certification from this school after experiencing it for myself. They also extort money from students after they withdraw due to terrible instruction and course content not being as advertised, claiming exaggerated hours of instruction and attendance and without providing evidence to that fact. STAY AWAY!!! They also do not allow work experience equivalencies or allow students to challenge program content. No formal means to file complaints about program content or quality of instruction. A formal complaint to the government is being filed as a result. Lawyers are also being involved.

Columbia College is like a very mini university which I like as I studied at a small university. You get more personal service and people are overall friendlier plus you get to see everyone more often. It is easy to navigate and they had an outdoor canteen that I wanted to try but just didn't have the time. I would highly recommend taking any courses here. For me it was easily accessible by bus and ctrain then bus. For me that is no problem as I sold my car a few years ago in order to support a cleaner environment and reduction of consumerism.

Furthermore, our Accounting Assistant Instructor, Mr. Rashid, has taught us Manual and Software Accounting topics in a profound manner, covering all of the critical aspects of Accounting and Financial Analysis. He has also spent a lot of his personal time to answer questions, to clarify accounting issues, and to grade assignments and exams. Moreover, Ms. Angel Lalonde has been fundamental in improving my Office skills. I am very optimistic about my future employment prospects after being unemployed for almost two years. Thank you Columbia College for having such a devoted and dedicated team of advisors, facilitators, and instructors. Babak Vosooghzadeh

I signed up for an Artificial Intelligence (AI) course through the University of Calgary's…read moreContinuing Education department. There are roughly three AI courses that are free, thanks to Microsoft. You will hear a lot about Microsoft Copilot, its AI tool, throughout these courses. I like free courses. I didn't mind learning about Copilot. ChatGPT is the frontrunner these days. It's not my first rodeo (so fitting, as it's Calgary) for me to be a student at an Alberta university. I was with Athabasca University first. I took a couple of undergraduate math courses for interest. I then took a graduate course in program management in IT as my elective for my graduate degree. It's nice to say that I am formally a University of Calgary student. Since this course is free, there isn't a formal grade that you get at the end of it. It's kind of nice to not do assignments, tests, or exams. The course that I took was on AI essentials. It's for anyone who is interested in AI and the tools out there to help you make things easier at work or personally in your life. This course was asynchronous. It meant that we had a three-hour live session through Teams. My session was last Friday. We then had course materials (videos, PowerPoint presentation, and some supplementary materials) to go through at our own pace. I finished everything late Sunday night. I have always loved learning and the course material was fascinating to me. My first time going through graduate school (I was a Master's dropout for a brief period) consisted of declaring AI as my field of specialization for computer science. It's funny how I somehow knew that AI would be a thing, but didn't realize the extent until now. I don't have the same desire to code like I did back then. I do like to see how AI can make my job as a writer better or help me at home. Perhaps AI can fetch a decent recipe for me when I can't think of anything to make or can't be bothered searching for one online. I registered for this course in late January. I chose a date and time to participate in the live online session. The process was straightforward. Within a couple of business days, I got my unique University of Alberta student ID and was asked to create a password after getting a temporary one. Connecting to the Teams session was easy. I used my work Teams account to connect, so I didn't need to install anything. Even if you don't have Teams installed, the link throws you to your browser, so you can technically participate in the chat. One star gets removed for the discrepancy in this online session's start time. The receipt that I got said that this session was at 1 pm Mountain. The syllabus that I got both a week and a day before the live session stated 1:30 pm. I went with the latter. I entered the chat with 177 people. All I saw in the chat were folks debating whether the course started at 1 pm or 1:30 pm. Perhaps it was an oversight of the course instructor and perhaps another person handling the syllabus. It may be the course instructor handling both details and getting them wrong. It's the type of confusion that everyone didn't need on the first and only group session, but got it. Luckily, we didn't miss much. The session was recorded. The course instructor was knowledgeable. However, he had a tendency to say um a lot, which felt like a distraction. Three hours of him talking felt like an eternity. We got five minutes midway through to break, which didn't feel like a break at all. The course materials were great. I liked the videos and sample prompts to feed Copilot and more. I learned a lot. The remaining two AI courses that are free are synchronous in delivery. It means that there are three 3.5-hour sessions to attend live through Teams. I'm not sure whether I feel like attending them. Luckily, I have some time to think about it. I want to check out other courses that this university has to offer. I don't mind taking courses for interest, provided that the tuition is affordable. (96)

I'm talking 12 to 16 hrs. of my day Mon-Fri and I'm also on call every 5 weeks. I also don't work in the city I live in. I'm dispatched to another city almost 3 hrs. away every work day. Did I realize this was going to be a heavy work load. Yes. I believed I could work at my own pace to a degree and be good. I'm a single parent and I need to change my employment dew to medical issues and pending surgeries. Yes, I know I don't have ALOT of time for myself and I was looking for a school where I could work at my own pace. I explained 110% of my situation to the school. They said as long as I could watch the lectures and do my best to stay in contact with my instructor's I should be OK. Ok, cool. THEN I spoke to the guy in charge of financing. He's a high pressure salesman... think of the worst used car salesman you can, and that would be him. I had to ask him if he was working on commission? He said no, why do you ask that? I told him, well, with the way your hounding me it feels like your a used car salesman. He said sorry you feel that way then carried on about the start date looming and how id be eligible to win a $2000 scholarship. I don't overly care about a scholarship. It was a wee bit of an extra bonus IF I got it. I would like to state here. Never ONCE was it discussed about other options for student loans. ONLY the Government student loan. I should have RAN when that went down. I started this course at the end of Aug. 2022. Its now the end of Dec 2022. I am now on my last "warning" and will be kicked out... $25,000 in the hole The last letter I received from them was so RUDE!! I read it to my WCB appointed psychologist and SHE was disgusted. Once the winter brake is over she will be putting me on stress leave. I'm a complete mess now. I barley sleep. I'm so overwhelmed and stressed out. I don't eat properly dew to the fact I have ZERO time for ANYTHING... and when I say ANYTHING I mean it. The most messed up thing is the school talks about mental health and if you have issues to call 211 ( eye roll ). If a mental health professional has issues with what is going on at the school, it REALLY makes one wonder! I can not keep up with what is required and how its required. Very misleading. I'll give you, the reader a taste of what's going on. Part of the course I'm in you are required to take a MS Word 2019. They NEVER explained how this 'Do at your own pace' MS Word program works. I believe its by a company called Peterson? I've been just clicking on things and doing them to the best of my ability. I was doing this one assignment on this program, it asked me to edit this letter. Ok, fine. When I came across this one question to place a watermark on it. Should be easy, right? NOPE! This Peterson program isn't set up just like Word 2019. One SHOULD find the watermark on the design tab and be able to click on it freely. NOPE!!!!! Yes, it IS under the design tab - but get this. You cant click on it. There are other options that are listed you can click on, but you can not click on the watermark option. Nothing you do, nothing you look up online will help you. You CANT click on it. I brought this up with an instructor. She asked me to mirror my screen with her on MS Teams... now I've been having NOTHING but issues with MS Teams. I've had one opportunity to call their so called "I.T" department look into it. This gentleman has a VERY thick accent. I was having a very hard time understanding him till I heard him mumble something about someone didn't set up my account right. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I need to contact them again, BUT they only work from 9 to 6 Mon to Fri. That don't work for me AT ALL! But I digress to one of the MANY MANY ISSUES I'm having. I was so upset I just turned in the assignment. I can only imagine the struggle of the people who have zero computer skills feel. In reality, I should have taken a MS course prior to enrolling because I'm so lost. I did think the school would have offered a better program then what they do. I was wrong. So very, very wrong. I looked up this Peterson program on Google reviews and they are as bad as the reviews of Reeves. I'm at a total loss as what to do... its currently Christmas 2022 and I went to log in on the schools dashboard to do the school work and its under maintenance. I'm so far behind I'm pretty sure I will be booted out. I know I'm rambling here, I'm in tears trying to gather my thoughts. All I wanted to do was better myself for me and my family. If your wanting to go back to school for anything. Go to a regular school. Not a school like Reeves. Don't waste your time and money here.

I applied to Alberta Student Aid for the Hospitality Management course, which was starting on October 3, 2023. I was in constant contact with them until my Student Aid approval came. During this period, I even uploaded all the documents they requested to Glenbow College's own portal, MyGC. After I received my approval from Alberta Student Aid, I reported it to the lady in charge of student affairs. She said that they were trying to arrange a suitable class for me and that they would inform me. She stated that they would send me the agreement for registration to the College and that I should sign it and send it back. While all this was going on (I was in constant contact), I was SHOCKED by the information I received from Alberta Student Aid. According to the information, Glenbow College sent a "Never attendent" notification about me to Alberta Student Aid. I called Alberta Student Aid to find out what this means. They said, "Since I never contacted the College or attended any classes, the College reported it to them". When I reported that this was a "LIE", they asked me to resolve this with the College first, and if it was not resolved, they told me to contact the PCC. Yes, I reached out to one of the College's partners and stated that I wanted it resolved. I told the gentleman I was talking to that this situation should be corrected and that I did not want to encounter a LIE statement again. While they should have apologized and corrected their mistakes, I received the answer, "The best thing is to act appropriately and do not enroll in an institution you do not trust." I say again; they can knowingly and willingly make LYING statements about you, and you cannot find any contact person to solve it.
