This is a family park on the St. Lawrence River. The lower sites are right on the water, great view…read moreof Brockville, Canada, ocean going ship traffic and the best sunsets anyplace. The upper sites are in the woods and very private. Protected swimming on a sandy well maintained beach. Great fishing just off the park with boat ramp and docking right in the park. Many river attractions near by on and off the water. The park provides trail guide tours of the many trails. Try the "Beaver Walk" or ask the park staff about Bigfoot. Great park, great staff with many repeat campers from all over and both sides of the border. Very well maintained, clean bathhouses and they sell ice and firewood.

Ferguson Falls is a small park with lots of greenery. No play structures or anything fun for kids…read more It's more for just taking a walk, biking through or having a picnic. There is only 1 lone picnic table in the entire park, but several park benches, and lots of green space if you wanted to lay down a blanket and picnic on the grass. There's a good mix of shaded and sunny areas. There was not too much water when we went there, so we didn't get to see the falls (it was all dried up), but it was pretty nonetheless. Admittedly, I was expecting something a bit grander (even when the water levels are high, the fall distance is not that great, so the falls I imagine are more pretty than magnificent). Nevertheless, we had a lovely walk and picnic in this park. There is a small parking lot with free parking.

We had such a large area of the beach all to ourselves. We were there for a few hours, and probably could have stayed longer. My partner said it was the most Caribbean looking beach he's ever been to not actually in the Caribbean. Things to note: Conditions might be quite different on different days. Apparently, the 1.3 trail to the beach can be wet and buggy (not when we were there!) and the water can have more algae (though it was stunningly clear during our visit). $15/person fee, with discounts for families.

It's a large park with a splash pad, restrooms, a sidewalk along the waterfront, and a sandy beach with a swimming area. There is good tree cover (at least when I was there in August) so you don't have to roast in the sun. Lots of children and dogs were enjoying the day, and there are benches and picnic tables to enjoy your lunch. It's not far from the departure point for Gananoque bout tours and has a nice view of the St. Lawrence River.

There were a lot of highlights- the big bridge, climbing the boulders to the scenic overlook of a huge marsh where we saw an enormous heron and lots of wild life- we saw porcupine, chipmunks, bunnies, and some cool birds, The trails were pretty easy, my three year old handled them well. There's even an ADA trail, making this an inclusive outdoor activity. This will remain a tradition when we go back to Thousand Islands!

We camped at Charleston Lake Provincial Park early July. Our site was large and perched on a hill,…read morebacking onto a forested area. No other campers were close to us, so the site felt private. There were flush toilets and showers near the site which were super convenient. The park itself is well maintained, including the beach areas. We enjoyed hiking the trails and also took advantage of the park's canoe rental. It cost $28 for a full day rental, which included two life jackets and the paddles. Will definitely be back!

We spent 3 nights and 4 days camping in this beautiful park this summer and were totally thrilled…read morewith how well maintained the entire campground was and how private our site was. The comfort stations were meticulously clean and water stations were always just a short stroll from our site. There are 2 shallow beaches that were rarely crowded during our stay. There is kayak and canoe rentals available and we took advantage of the canoe rental to go fishing in the lake. Fishing was phenomenal as almost every cast returned at leave a small sunfish, perfect for young/beginner shoreline angler like my daughter. There are plenty of hiking trails and wild life. While fishing, we spotted some water snakes, giant snapping turtles and many frogs/toads. Only downside was the amount of mosquitoes we had to fight off due to plentiful rainfall earlier in the season. We would definitely return to camp here again and next time, we'll be sure to book for a week as the 4 days just flew right on by!

At the end April 2022, my husband and I went to Black Rapids Park in hopes of having a picnic…read morethere. Unfortunately, they still had the picnic tables all in a pile and chained up, so we couldn't use them. The park was covered in goose poop, so we didn't want to eat on the grass and ended up eating in the car, lol. Parking is not free at this park, you have to pay. The parking lot is owned by Indigo Parking and it's $1.25 an hour with a 4 hour maximum. The parking lot is also fairly small, so it fills up quickly. If the parking lot is full, there really isn't anywhere else you can park so you'd be out of luck. The turn to get into the parking lot and thus the park is marked, but the road is small, not even 2 full car widths, so it's easy to miss. I missed it first time around and had to double back. Also since the road in is narrow, if someone is coming in and someone else is coming out, the person coming out has to back up. I don't know who designed this place, but I'm not all that impressed with the entrance/exit layout. So as you can see, this park and I did not start off on the right foot, lol. It is pretty, if you disregard all the goose poop and the loud geese walking around. The rapids are cool and there are sections of the park that are picturesque. I personally would be reluctant to bring small kids here because I feel that it's pretty dangerous there if you are not careful. You can fall in the water. Not all sections are adequately fenced off for my comfort level. However, I am a stickler for safety. But I realize that nature is inherently dangerous, so I guess there is some risk to experience its beauty. Glad I got to see the park and the rapids, but I likely won't be back.

I had no idea this place existed until our photographer, Jamie from Hello Lovely Ottawa, suggested…read moreit for our maternity shoot! We were there last summer in June. We weren't the only ones there for a photoshoot either, as we saw a pregnant woman and her partner with a photographer, as well as another couple who seemed to be taking engagement photos. Great location for them! We met Jamie in the parking lot and had no idea what the park would be like, but when we walked down into the park area, it opened up to this huge green space that we didn't expect. There's lots of open green space and small hills, some picnic tables, a few paths in between the trees, and locks where a few people were fishing. It was so beautiful and peaceful at during the "golden hour" at sunset on a weekday, and no mosquitos or any other bugs really, maybe because it was a little windy. I'm not sure what it would be like on weekends during the day, when I could see a lot of families playing and picnics happening. I completely forgot about this park until now, so I can't wait to go back with our babe when the whether is nice! In the meantime, enjoy a few photos of my husband and I screwing around during our photoshoot lol (Just two weeks before our little guy decided to introduce himself to the world!)

The swimming are extensive and inviting...but unfortunately not on an early summer day with intermittent thunder storms. The user fee is about $15, more than $10 I had in cash. The do take Visa, on an old fashioned machine. I doubt they take interac. This looks like a great beach to take family to. Something for everyone.
