My wife found Mr. Maksoud's. At first I was a bit hesitant, but gave it a shot. The place is exactly what I like. Small, the smell of leather and shoe polish that greets you upon entering. Shoes and handbags strewed about. And in the middle of it all is George. Positive, quick with witty retorts, and busy working. He put new heels on a pair of old Cole Haan boots, that I wasn't ready to let go of. George even said they are nice and worth keeping. After about 9 days, I returned to pick them up. The work was great and the price was excellent. 40 dollars. Other places in the area would have charged double. I'm so glad my wife found this place. George also makes keys.

It's as skinny as my patience on a Monday morning--charming, sure, but not exactly built for heavy lifting. After dragging my tote across the globe and using it as a makeshift suitcase accessory, the inevitable happened: the handle started to part ways with the bag. Naturally, my first thought was to consult the LV store for repairs. When they quoted me a jaw-dropping $400 for handle replacements, I nearly choked on my avocado toast. Why shell out that much when the bag itself cost me $750 back in the day? And the repair time typically range from 12 to 26 weeks!!!! Time to shop around. Here's what I found: * Leather Spa 55 (NYC): $200 per handle. * Rago Brothers (NJ): Two new handles for around $395, or repairing one at the base for about $125. Basically, not much better than LV's offer. Just when I was about to resign myself to a life of broken bag straps, I stumbled upon rave reviews for Mr. Maksoud's Handbags & Shoe Repair. Words like "reasonable," "quick," and "great job" were being thrown around. Intrigued, I decided to give it a shot. Mr. Maksoud did not disappoint. He quoted me $200 for both handles, but since I brought my own leather handles from Etsy (because I'm resourceful like that), he only charged me $50. In just a week, he transformed my bag from tragic to magic. I couldn't be happier! Oh, and did I mention? Mr. Maksoud is quite the handsome gentleman. Highly recommended!

Plz don't come if you don't want to ruin your day!…read more I've been to this shoe repair store three times, and unfortunately, my most recent visit was extremely disappointing due to the rude and unprofessional attitude of the staff member there. The boss was fine, but the staff was truly rude. Dealing with such a thing on Saturday literally ruined my weekend. Therefore, I wish to share the whole story with you guys here. On my third visit, I clearly told the staff that I didn't want to spend too much on an outsole replacement, since this particular pair of shoes only cost $95. I even said that if the cost was too high, I would prefer to buy a new pair. The staff assured me the job would be $35, which I agreed to. However, when I returned to pick up the shoes, I was suddenly told the price was $85. I felt helpless since there was no invoice given, and the service has already been done. When I questioned the change, the staff became rude and dismissive, showing a very negative attitude rather than calmly explaining the misunderstanding. It turns out the $35 quote was only for the heel--not the full sole replacement--which was never made clear to me. Thankfully, the boss stepped in and agreed to a $50 charge, which I accepted. But the damage was already done in terms of the experience. After the boss agreed on $50, the staff becomes even more rude to me. This is the reason why I would like to share this experience with everybody else to help your guys avoid such experience. What made this worse is that I had already been tolerant in the past. For example, during a previous service, the staff got black oil/dirt on my shoes which was a pair of brand new Saint Laurent sandals with retail price $770 dollars before tax, but I chose not to complain and continued to support the business. I expected a little more care and respect in return. Please refer to the attached pic for more details. After this last visit, I've lost trust in this store. I don't recommend going to a place where simple communication turns into conflict and customers are treated with such negativity. There are many other stores out there--choose one that values honesty and respectful service.

The Associate in the shop is rudest person who only takes care of you if you do "enough" business with them. They ruined a dress I only wore once. The dress came back to me with holes in it. When I discussed this with Skye, they took no accountability for their mistake. When I spoke to the condescending associate about it she told me to return the dress to the store as it's their fault. Then she said they would fix it when you can't! Apparently in Skye Dry Cleaning world this made sense. If you deal with this Associate, just know she's 100% condescending. I spoke to the owner, who was even worse than the Associate. Clearly there is a pattern of abysmal customer service. The owner said that they washed the dress as best they could and once again told me to return it to the store. When I told the owner he needed to compensate me for ruining my dress he said, "no and has a business to run." NEVER use Skye dry cleaning, they're absolutely horrendous.

I wear expensive shoes ($400+ Hand made Allen Edmonds Dress Shoes, Wolverine 1000 Mile boots, etc) and these types of shoes get better with age. Part of the draw is that they break in and conform to your feet and can be resoled several times over. They have replaced several dress shoe heels and toplifts for me with good results and, most recently, resoled my Wolverine 1000 mile boots. What I really like about them is they present me options for what type of sole I want to use so I'm really getting the optimal rubber. The factory soles were Vibram but more of a foam rubber that didn't hold up very well to city use so they helped me pick a tougher rubber compound that would handle walking on concrete in the snow and weather a bit better. Totally happy with the results on my favorite pair of boots and the price was very reasonable.

DON't GET YOUR SHOES DESTROYED HERE! I CAME BACK HOME FEELING REALLY INCENSED!!…read more Guys, when I came here I thought I was gonna be greeted by Fernando, a guy who worked previously at a diff place a few years ago and moved here. He has now totally moved or whatever but he used to really go all out of the way with fixing my shoes, once he even trusted me to borrow his shoe expander at home and give him back in a week from this same shop. And he would treat my shoes so delicately and I would even give him a damn good review for his last shop where it was seen by thousands of people and that review was helpful to his business. When I came here, I wanted to fix a squeak on these very special, unique, hard-to-get different shoes, only on the right side. These shoes has glassy-like platform heels with really not too many dents and cracks on the white shoes itself. I would get stopped at the streets all the time for these pair of shoes. This Mexican guy came in from the back, he was very rough with my shoes, CRACKED IT OPEN SO ROUGHLY AND SO SUDDENLY and he added a new dent to my classy shoe and a sorta hole around the sides of my shoe! And I couldn't stop him!! I was so speechless and flabbergasted. The lady at the front (both don't speak English well), sorry to say, but this itself could feed into the problem cos you don't know what she is really communicating to the guy at the back and he just came to me and talking about the material "carton" inside or whatever. I saw the crack, I was so shocked, I showed it to my husband who was waiting in the car and he was saying what's up with the side of the shoe being a lil' gappy and open now, it wasn't like this. I came back in and the lady dared to say it's a pair of old shoes??? Gaslighting me? Some people are so ill-hearted yet acting so sweet and nice...?? She said she can show it on camera, I said, "Show me! I'm not scared!" How can I be scared if I'm telling the truth and the camera was facing HIM so directly and everything was obvious and could be seen. I kept saying don't you guys deal with people's delicate stilettos? She knew she was lying, the guy half the time went to the back out of guilt cos he KNEW he did something wrong with my show and don't even wanna apologize and he wasn't facing me. I was so confused I didn't even know if I should ask him to repair something 2 mins ago that doesn't need to be repaired in my shoe that new / hole gap. Guys, don't get your shoes destroyed unexpectedly in the hands of a stranger. I know I sound a bit fear-mongering, but when it happens, although people consider these things objects or materialism, such a perfect day and just a squeak in a shoe could turn sour.

The soles were originally made from wood and I grinded the soles down wearing them throughout the concrete streets of NYC. There was a hole near the top of the sole of the right shoe. Rafaello is whom I trust when it comes to repairing and refashioning any of my leather and fur goods. Rafaello was able to resole the shoes that were originally designed in Turkey with genuine Italian leather soles and Vibram rubber. After picking up the shoes, then I crushed a Monster energy drink can I had finished drinking to test out the shoes. It went well. That way I can know whether there are any lose nails and whether the shoes can properly withstand force. I usually jump down stairs in the subway skipping two to three steps at a time. The soles were properly stitched to the upper and the glue on the inside to hole the insole has also been well. I picked up the shoes in August, and no complaints thus far. He does the most amazing at this craft within NYC. I've dealt with others before, but I will not go back because I have different one of a kind gifts. I also dropped off a pair of stylish heel shoes that my younger sister wears from Birdies for court appearances related to her position. The heel was damaged and Rafaello made sure to refashion the shoes so they have better grip near the front and the heel is repaired. He made sure to polish the shoes before returning them as well. 12/10 with how professional, skilled, and mindful to detail that Rafaello is. When I wear down my custom motorcycle riding jacket from Lahore, Pakistan, then I know who to go to. Or the other pairs of dress shoes that I have. I'll wear one down, pass it to Rafaello without any worry, and start wearing the other pair of dress shoes to hit them with the daily grind. Thank you again, Rafaello! Legitimately, the best! I brang a very older beaver fur coat that had opening seams underneath the arms, had an old lining that was pilling and different clasps that didn't fasten properly. I had bought the fur coat second-hand and I did not know when the last time it was professionally washed and glazed. Rafaello made sure to find a beautiful red wine colored lining and embroider my name on the inside of the coat. He made the coat brand new again. He added better clasps that lock tightly and the coat is silky soft now. Most friendly and professional man. I would recommend him for any leather and fur restoration services. Surely a talented craftsman.
