This past year on the NWEA, a computer based assessment that tests for student growth, our student's scored in the top 1% of all schools in the United States. We also have the support of an amazing community through organizations such as the Friends of Brentano. Logan Square is a tight-knit community that loves to keep things local. Plus, our school has our very own cute little soccer field! It just goes to show how unique and full of character Brentano is. The school itself is wonderful although the teacher is not. My daughter had openly told me she dislikes that class and feels discomfort with the teacher. She also mentioned that he had draped himself over her closets friend and she explained her friend felt extremely uncomfortable. I am glad my daughter graduated from that school so she doesn't have to deal with that sort of teacher ever again!

Teachers write emails to their class parents at least once a week, they are accessible and very willing to work with your child if there is a special need/learning deficit. When I went to the school and spoke with the vice principle or assistant principle or whatever that is, one f*****g c***t Amanda Mulch and complained. Know what she said? She said "You don't like it you can take your daughter to another school!" And that's exactly what I did. In a follow up meeting with the principle, one di***head Mr Roche he presented me with a stay order of some type. Yes what another reviewer here said they brush problems and hide them. This school is to be avoided at all costs and both Mr Roche and Amanda Mulch should be sacked immediately.

The new principle didn't believe that she was feeling sick and made her cry. He gave no heart into her feelings. So was the new vice principle she was just a tad bit nicer. The principle doesn't care about what the kids need. They spend money on a new teachers lounge and catering food for the staff. In the bathrooms the kids need soap, paper towel, toilet paper, and Kleenex. The parents have to provide the items for the children. But the staff get paper towel refills 24/7. The school wastes their money on the dumbest things. The kids don't even have a real jump rope, they have to use broken extension cords tied together. I've seen much better at other schools. We hopefully will be transfering schools.

Meaning when you enter Avondale, its still the same school of the 70's and 80's (well for those who came through their doors) but it does have its newer ventures with computers and really nice wall hangings. Avondale is one of those schools that has character and although you may see a teacher or two from way back when, the majority of teachers here now are younger and just really loving to the kids. Not to take away from the teachers before, no not in the least, but the younger teachers seem to be very no nonsense and very direct. If your in the neighborhood, just stop by and let them know you just want to see how the school has changed, or hasn't. From the outside, you can see the newer parts of the school, but the inside still maintains its integrity.

I am an adult who is 40 years old. I know right from wrong. Principal Tennison might have shook every Lane students hands while he was in office, he neglected their needs as far as stress goes. There was no relief, no therapist offered whatsoever. Brian Tennison did not care. Plus, he took away all the parents privileges to volunteer at their Prom. I was devastated at that time. Even though, my youngest daughter was unhappy about me not going to her prom. I would have been very happy without dancing and prom dinner. I rather be in the same ballroom with both my daughters' prom instead of dinner and dancing. We survived without it. I do not know who changed the prom volunteer policy. Hence I am very sad at Brian Tennison. Dr. Christopher Dignam was a very very excellent principal. Dr. Dignam allowed parents to participate as prom volunteers. You rock Dr. Christopher Dignam!!!!!! My son goes to the bilingual gifted program. The kids from…read morethis program are challenge they are more advance than the regular clases the only thing I don't care for that it supposed to be bilingual and from 5th to 8 grade I don't think they do a good job to keep up with the bilingual part of it.
