I don't envy Superdrug. While someone certainly has to step up and try to compete with Boots, it's…read morea tough job. Superdrug tries, but falls short. I find the shelves too overloaded and the merchandise display to be a bit overwhelming where Boots is a bit wider and cleaner and, perhaps, friendlier. As for the prices, my inexact survey indicated that they were about equivalent. Sorry, Superdrug.
this superdrug the biggest one in reading. this one has a 3…read moremobile store at the front of the store. there is a perfume store with its own counter and the perfumes are usually good value. there is a chemists at the back of the store and the queues are usually shorter than in boots in the Oracle. there are always good offers on toiletries here including shampoo on buy one get one free, and sensibly priced over the counter medicines. There are also things for the bathroom and house like toasters, sometimes cheap DVD players, and boxes for bathroom storage.

However, they've never not had exactly what I wanted and the location is way handy if you're popping off the train, or if you're taking the train somewhere else and you realized when packing that you were out of shaving cream. D'oh! Not just selling meds and suchlike, there is also a cooler of sandwiches and sodas. And a full-service pharmacy, but I can't imagine that in this small space they carry all the usual drugs. Very friendly workers, they've pointed out when I was overpaying and also helped me notice when there is a special, such as a bottle of Vitamin C for £1 when buying cold meds.

There is also a one hour photo center here plus a few expanded cosmetic and perfume counters, none of which I needed today.

I think this particular boots store is a great contender for the worst pharmacy in the UK. I have…read morelived in a few cities in the UK and find this store to be the opposite of a gem. It doesn't matter what time do I come there - there are ALWAYS queues at the prescription section. If you are thinking oh, big deal, I will come back in a half an hour - you are making a rookie mistake - it will be just as bad. I don't know how they manage to maintain queues - however, after observing them while I was waiting with other unlucky ones, I think a have uncovered their secret. So, if it's particularly busy, they will have two pharmacists serving. However, the moment their speed becomes remotely reasonable - the second pharmacist is walking out to work/help out as a general cashier, so the slow speed is not broken. But that's not all! For example, have you heard about a service where you have 'appointed' pharmacy from your gp? Where gp prescribes you medicine, and in a couple of days you pick it up there. Well, clearly this store hasn't. I was prescribed something, went to the pharmacy in a week (!!!!) to make sure they had time to order, and when I came there, did my half an our in the queue they told me they will order it. How kind of them!! And no, I do not describe the COVID days, it all happened way before that. I can only imagine what they are doing now. And no, this has nothing to do with it being on the Main Street- there is drugstore pharmacy nearby, where I have never experienced anything like this. And they are much more effects right despite having a lunch hour.

This location is a "full" one with cosmetics, cold medicines, toiletries, instant photo printing, even a big cooler of sandwiches and drinks, plus candies and other sweet things. They offer some really great deals and it has quite a big christmas shop during that festive season! they often have quite a lot of staff on the tills so you're never left waiting for long when purchasing your items. I like the fact that boots are also doing promotional offers whereby they'll give you vouchers if you spend over a certain amount which is an added bonus however, if you're looking for cheap deals then you're best off heading to Superdrug.
