I brought my boat in for a simple repair and it took WEEKS for them to "fix it" and when I was finally able to pick it up my bill was over 3,000. I asked what was wrong with it and Charlie couldn't even form one sentence to explain what it was. Mind you they did work I didn't approve of them doing. Whatever I paid and left.... but could not make it home because my boat broke down in their canal. Unbelievable. Brought it right back and they told me it's been bay tested and someone would look at it because they don't know why it happened. Charlie then proceeded to tell me if I can't afford to fix the boat I should not own one. Who the hell are you to say that to someone? Waited another 3 weeks for my boat and it still never ran right. Brought it to a different place and it was fixed within 3 days, only 600 to fix and it's been running GREAT ever since. All they care about is money. They do not care about fixing your boat. And will charge OVERLY charge you and get confrontational when you ask them about the prices they're charging. They're rude, lying, good for nothing pos! I even spoke with people who dock with them who say they are leaving after this season because they are horrible! Please save your self from this less than HALF A** marina.

The lifeguards are teenagers usually looking at their phones or chatting with one another. Hours for the splash park at 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and last day of the season is Sept. 2nd. There are also fun lawn games when you first enter like giant connect four and corn hole. If the sand and beach is more your thing, Venetian has you covered. There is a small section roped off in the water designated for swimming. The food section is fast-food esque - think burgers, dogs, that sort of thing. Last time we got a soft pretzel which, at $6.50 was a bit outrageous. And it was underwhelming. We sat at one of the picnic tables - no food allowed in the splash park area. They do have concerts here at night which is fun, and a great (free) family summertime activity. In the off-season, the playground here is awesome. Great for the 3-8/9 year old range. It is also completely closed in via gate, which always makes me feel more comfortable.

After we left the dock The captain went over safety instructions as well as an itinerary for the trip. On this particular trip we were going for Blackfish, as the time of year offered. The "Sashimi" proved to be up to the task, as it is a well maintained and clean vessel with a toilet (head) on board. Within 40 minutes of leaving Northport Harbor, we were off the coast of Connecticut and on the fish. Captain Stu gave a brief tutorial with explanation of what kind of fish we were fishing for, the type of bait used and good technique for this type of fishing. This was helpful, as there were some novice fisherman on board who appreciated the instruction and one on one tutoring. The bait was prepped and ready to roll and both the mate and Captain Stu himself were attentive to helping bait hooks and unhook fish. Once we were "on the fish", Captain Stu would give tips and tricks of the trade to help enhance the fishing experience. On the way back to Long Island, the catch was cleaned and bagged , ready for some seasoning and eventually the grill, the fryer,or the oven. Overall, I would recommend a charter with Captain Stu and the "Sashimi" From beginning to end, he and his "crew" were courteous and well prepared and conducted themselves and the vessel in a professional manner. This is a great alternative if you want to get out and fish but don't want the big charter boat (we had 8 people).The bottom line might be a little more than the big charters, but the personalized fishing experience is worth the extra cost.

What a glorious experience. It was the first time of deep sea fishing for two of us. We not only caught tons of fish but got wonderful lessons from Eric as to how to do it right. He is a great teacher, always watching and correcting you so that you don't develop bad habits, but doing so with a ready smile. He is also very ethical and would only let us keep porgies (11 inches +) and sea bass (16.5 inches +) that meet regulation. Our end of the day haul was 30 large sized fish which was way beyond expectation. Most importantly we had 6 hours of pure fun. Also, his boat is extremely clean and well kept. If you ever want to go deep sea fishing, look no further and just call Eric / Captain Fish! I have already recommended him to all my friends who are chomping at the bit to go. They are, I bet a little envious as well - wondering how a novice like me could so much fish. All credit goes to Eric!
