    Aboard the Edith Becker!

We can't say enough about the Sail Door County crew and our two trips on the Edith Becker! We were up in June and did a Saturday afternoon cruise with Kristy, Kevin, and Kate - we had the BEST time! We even had an acoustic singer aboard which made for such a great atmosphere. We sailed around Sister Bay and enjoyed the gorgeous weather while chatting with the other passengers and the crew. Everyone is so fun and personable and we genuinely enjoyed getting to know them. This time, we did the Saturday morning lighthouse tour, which involves sailing and motoring to a lighthouse further south on the peninsula so we really got out into open water. We traded Kevin for Will, who provided a really entertaining look into the ship's history. Kate did a great job talking about all the islands in Green Bay and Kristy shared the history of the lighthouse. We caught some great wind and had an amazing sail! Did we mention it's BYO and the boat is so spacious and comfortable? We will absolutely be on board the next time we're in Door County! Thanks so much to our amazing crew for showing us such a wonderful time!

The Sale Door County harbor cruise was a unique experience on a tall boat. Expert crew. Beautiful weather. Enjoyed even with a 12 knot wind and gentle role.

What a wonderful experience! My boyfriend and I went on a sunset cruise on the Passage North with Captain Todd and had an incredible time. Captain Todd was awesome: friendly and knowledgeable, and willing to teach. We also had an amazing sunset to top it all off!

We love doing the sunset sail! We have ridden the Edith M Becker a handful of times. It seats about 20 people. They also have a smaller sail boat that holds 6 people which would be perfect for a group or family. We take our own food and drink. Pick up a bottle of door country Cider and it has the flip rubber latch on top so you're not spilling on the boat. The staff is very knowledgeable and loves to share the history of the boat. Highly recommend.

The lowest the Sun got before we returned to the dock.

The scenery is gorgeous. The sunset was perfect. Captain John of the Edith Becker made what could have been a lovely evening a huge disappointment with his surly attitude and half-baked "sailing". The sailboat is fine. Not exactly well-appointed for anything but sitting in place and watching the sunset. The same view can be seen from the dock - for free! We motored out a very short way off shore. Raised the sails. Bobbed in the water for a bit. Listened to Captain John's canned rendition of the boat's history (recited with lackluster enthusiasm at best, as if he was immensely bored from having repeated it one thousand times before) and then motored back to the dock as soon as Captain John could reasonably call the excursion "done". While waiting for the sun to lower sufficiently so that he could turn back towards shore, Captain John bitterly complained about living in the Caribbean ("Amazon doesn't have one day Prime delivery service") and the "lack of food options" in the islands. He also complained about his current work schedule (7 days in a row, oh my!) Is this appropriate for this sunset sail? The only time Captain John perked up was when we were approaching the dock and he, very clearly, made his request for TIPS heard by one & all. His first mate, Isabella, was lovely though. She deserves a new Captain.

We sailed on the Edith Becker as a bachelorette weekend activity and it was a blast!

I had such a great time on this. First time in door county. First time on a sail boat. We did the 530 sunset sail on the bigger boat. Names escape me-but they were hilarious and very personable. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to get out on the water for a bit. We brought snacks and wine. Clean boat with a great history. You get to learn a bit about the boat and the area.

If it's a little choppy and you are prone to seasickness I would highly advise a reschedule. We rolled the dice, booked in advance and paid $150 for 2 for a 2hr choppy boat ride on hard wooden seats with a 1" cushion that slides around. We would recommend this trip only to people who can check the weather and book same day. I realize they dont control the weather but we didnt get the same value for the same money paid by folks lucky enough to have calm water. 3 shipwrecks? My wife and I are fairly competent semi-pro photographers...i didnt even try to get a picture...im not sure if she got any...she hasn't looked yet. I know i saw zero shipwrecks though.

Bring snacks and beverages. 3.) Plan to spend some time in Gills rock, there are little shops, restaurants, and an ice cream place. Our captain was Robbo and the crew for the day was Bunny. Kids 12 and under were half price (bonus), and as my 12 year old said, "it.was.awesome!". They had a great knowledge of Door County and local shipwrecks. The captain was also a diver so was able to tell us about what the shipwrecks looked like from the bottom of the water. The took us to Plum Island to give a very thorough history of Deaths Door Passage, the ships that travel through it, and the lighthouses. We also drove around Pilot Island, to learn about its past and current state (which was bizarre). You could tell they really cared about the area and wanted to pass their knowledge on to us. Before leaving it was a nice warm day in door county, by the time we got out on the water we found ourselves putting on all our layers, so pack accordingly. The crew encouraged food and beverages, which we regretted not bringing. Tips are appreciated!

Many phone calls were made to look for repairs. Due to the holiday weekend there were no available technicians until after the holiday (3 full days)....Until I got ahold of Jim.... He was very honest about not being a diesel tech but would be happy to look at boat. Jim came out ON the Fourth July to diagnose the issue. He was able to identify the issue and with the help of a diesel expert they were confident they could perform the repair. Jim moved the boat (on one engine) down from Frankfort to his Marina in Arcadia and tied it up in is ONLY hoist well. Jim and his team (Peter and Art) worked on the boat tirelessly....14+ hours a day. He kept me in the loop during the whole project. The boat was ready two days after the 4th. My wife and finished up our boat trip back to Grand Haven with a perfectly running boat. Jim's team took pride in all aspects of their work, not only the actual repair but they kept our boat protected and clean through this extremely messy repair.....lots of oil and engine coolant involved. Again, Jim and his team at Arcadia Marine are professional, personable, and a dedicated team. You will not go wrong with this group. Thanks Again for the professional service!!!!
