Seems nice enough. People were kind and checked my allergens. They do have gluten free options (not dedicated space), my soy free options except the turkey and mustard. So you could get a salad with lettuce, turkey, mustard only. Soybean oil in fryers and on grill. Very kind staff and the rest in group were happy. We were in town for the week from Fort Worth, Texas. Everybody was talking about the burgers here, so we planned a late lunch to avoid the crowds. They do get busy and you have to be patient. We brought our two Aussies with us and sat outside at the picnic tables. They have a great awning that keeps the sun off you. We're from Texas so can handle the CO heat quite well. Loved that they have a big dog bowl outside for water. The girl that took our order was so nice. They have the best service. She said be patient that it takes a little bit but it's worth it. Well she knew what she was talking about. These burgers were so unbelievably good. Perfectly toasted buns and not too thick. The Pattie's were awesome and had so much flavor. Even the fries were delicious. I'd put this place up against ANY DFW burger place. read more

First time there. Son in law and daughter brought us with their 3 kids. Very laid back setting. The folks there were very helpful. I got the Local because it has Hatch green chiles (always the best chiles vibe from there). It was excellent. The green chiles were mild to medium in heat. Definitely opened up my clogged sinuses. My wife got the Belly Up. She said it was very good with the BBQ sauce, etc. These burgers are not gigantic but they are not small either. We knew we wouldn't need dinner later on. Their French fries are just about perfect for me. Nice crunchy outer layer while fluffy on the inside. Not greasy either. A standard self serve soda dispenser. Everything was amazing, probably best burger I ever had (Hangover 2.0). Regret I did not get a double. We finally got the opportunity to see what all the fuss is about. Yes, the burgers are worth the wait and so are the fries! I ate half of a single patty of the Local and my boyfriend had the hang over. Excellent best describes them. Mine was dripping in Hatch green chilis. Very moist and flavorful. You have to try the special sauce. Yummy! Check the hours and come when they open. Be patient. They will "pause" the kitchen if too many orders come in all at once. They want to keep it small. A local referred us to the restaurant and it was so good! Apparently it used to be in a food truck but this is now their brick and mortar space. These were the best burgers we had while in Pagosa. They have limited hours and they make everything to order. If you are in a hurry then probably not the place for you. In fact, the cashier advised us of the wait time before we placed our order. For us, it was 25 minutes...no problem. They don't skimp on size here...wow, portion sizes are big. The four of us could have shared burgers but they were so good that we stuffed ourselves and rolled out the door. There is not a kid's menu so be aware of portion size. The belly up burger and the turkey sandwich with bacon added were delicious. The fries are amazing too. The "a lot" of fries were shared by 4 of us. Such a delicious local burger joint. OH MY GOODNESS! I'd looked this place up prior to getting to Pagosa Springs and knew I wanted to come here. We had spent the morning at the Overlook Hot Springs and were hungry. We decided to stop in for burgers! We walked in and since they make every fresh and to order the wait was 45-60 minutes. IT IS SO WORTH IT!! I ordered the "a lot" size of sweet potato fries and the Belly Up burger. My friend also ordered sweet potato fries and a mushroom and jack cheese burger. Our food took 53 minutes. I said it before but I'll say it again "IT WAS SOOO WORHT IT!!" The fries were so on point! Crunch outside and tender inside with great seasoning! Soo good. Then, the Belly Up... this thing was so tasty, it's good I do live there or I'd be there all the time! So, my burger had beef, cheddar, fried onions, BBQ sauce, and house smoked pork belly. The pork belly was amazing. It was so thick and tasty. I was eating the burger thinking I'd never finish and I was so tired after soaking that I kind of nap ate near the end. I did finish my whole burger as did my friend and we made a huge dent in all the sweet potato fries. If you have the time to wait and want a fantastic burger with killer fries in a family owned joint with a friendly staff, come to Sage. Wow. Just wow. Wishing I could have a Belly Up right now. Why does this place have good reviews? First off. Beware of the weird, stinky guy at the counter. (You order the same way you would at McDonald's) We really should have left when he hit on my 14 year old daughter. Another slap in the face, $65 for burgers, order of fries and drinks that takes forever to come. They even make you tip first before you even get your order. We could have eaten a high end meal with real service for that price and saved our arteries from the pound of salt on the sloppy, paper bag wrapped burgers. Well we've been living our dream of traveling to different states and kept saying we felt like a really good burger. Today it happened in Pagosa Springs, CO thanks to the store owner of Hodge Podge who told us where to get one. Glad we got there before they closed at 3:00 pm. Our burger was the All American and we shared it with a full order of fries and it filled us up. Our wait was about 10ish minutes as they are popular, but it was worth the wait. The burger came on a nice large bun, the meat was nice and juicy not to mention quite favorable. Their fancy sauce made the burger that much more yummy!! The fries were nice and HOT, just the way fries should be eaten. Medium thickness and crispy but not overcooked. I wish I would have taken a picture of our food, but it was so good we gobbled it down. Definitely a scrumptious burger and super nice people who own and run it. read more

Apparently Sage is still having trouble learning its new POS system, because they were cash-only when we went last week. They post regularly on their Facebook page but there was no warning about it; my husband had to walk all the way back to our house just to get some cash, because there is also no ATM on site. I docked them a star for their failure to note this anywhere on the internet, as this has clearly been an ongoing problem for them rather than a day-of emergency. I got the Local burger and my husband got the Sweet Heat chicken sandwich. Both of the sandwiches were good, served up in paper bags. We also got fries, which were battered and delicious. When I asked for water to drink the cashier informed me that it was a privilege for me to receive a cup from which to drink water, which I found a bit odd and off-putting. read more

I read a lot of five star reviews before coming. Disappointed as it is just a hamburger joint with a good variety of burgers. However after placing your order at the counter, be prepared to wait a long time to have them call your name to get your paper sack of food. No ambiance....as a matter of fact it is noisy and very loud & annoying if some little kid is screaming. Seats are uncomfortable if available and they even stopped taking orders when kitchen got behind. Not a FAST food place. Just a good burger at a high price and nothing else but fries to add. Fantastic burgers and fries. Love the option to get grass fed. They don't serve beer yet, but they say it's coming soon. The food can take awhile, but it's worth it. Just be aware this is not "fast food". One thing, and I may be alone in this, but I did not care for the bacon. It's VERY thick. Like maybe 1/2"-3/4", so it wasn't crispy.
