A sunset cruise out of Sag Harbor sounded irresistible and the reality was even better than the mere idea. Captain Hagen's vintage wooden vessel was comfortable and accommodating in all ways for our party of six old friends, but the revelation was the skipper's detailed knowledge of north haven, where we've had a home for many years. He shared what he knew about the waters and coastline features both there and along Shelter Island... in waters we'd sailed past many times in our own old cutter without the benefit of a great story teller's rich narratives. There are creeks and inlets and beaches we'll want to explore again, thanks to a delightful summer evening cruise with just the right captain on just the right vessel for the job. Absolutely incredible experience! Captain Hagen set my partner and I on the most magical late afternoon boat excursion. Perfect weather, perfect water, OUTSTANDING Captain. We sailed around the bay up to Shelter Island and to different secret spots where the only noise was nature's song. So serene! Wow, what an epic end to a pandemic summer. Captain Hagen's boat adventure was an absolutely blast. He has so much nautical knowledge - even started the boat trip by hanging my national flag (Canadian) on top of the boat. Captain Hagen took us to a beautiful swimming area near Shelter Island. After swimming he took us tubing behind his boat and I got to experience some cross over sport (sort of like a wakeboard but the bindings are set up like waterskis). This was completely nostalgic of summers spent at a cottage in Canada - tubing/wakeboarding/waterskiing. I would highly recommend Captain Hagen's boat cruise. Captain Anton hosted us on a terrific charter this morning on his comfortable boat the Marlinspike. Despite his warnings that the "light fishing" may not yield very much, he brought us to a quiet spot on the bay and our sons were reeling in porgies in no time. After we finished fishing, Anton brought us to a quiet cove in a nature preserve on Shelter Island with lots of wild life to explore in a tidal stream and a beautiful beach for swimming. The captain is a perfect gentleman and was a warm and courteous host. Highly recommend for families. read more

Enjoyed a ride around Sag Harbor Bay on this lovely picnic boat with Captain Hagen. We brought refreshments along and all we needed to do was sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery. Great for tourists and locals alike. Perfect outing if you have houseguests. You can arrange your trip duration and pay by the hour. We went out for 90 minutes just before sunset. We reserved a 2.5 hour boat ride with a group of friends for Memorial Day weekend. Captain Hagen made sure we had an enjoyable trip. He gave us some insight on the beautiful homes, fun facts about shelter island and stopped the boat so we can take some memorable pictures. We booked an hour-long sunset cruise with Captain Hagen for my friend's bachelorette party. The Captain is very kind and knows the area extremely well. He even pointed out Jimmy Buffet's home and Richard Gere's home during the cruise. The boat is very clean (he did ask us to take off our shoes and leave them at the dock, which we weren't expecting...but that must be why the boat is so clean!) and had enough seating for the 6 of us. We sipped on wine and took lots of pictures while enjoying the beautiful sunset and scenery. It was the perfect start to our bachelorette weekend! North Haven - Shelter Island - Mashomack Preserve - Cedar Point - Gardiners Bay - Azurest, Ninevah Beach and Gardiners Island . Ask Captain to show you Billy Joel's 3 boats including the famous (Downeaster) Alexa . As a 30 year resident he knows the area's history and points out all the sights and celebrity homes . Pick up some food at The Dock House at the marina and some local wine and you ate guaranteed to have and amazing time . Comfortable boat with great company made for a very enjoyable evening. Spent a lovely afternoon on Captain Hagen's boat cruising around Sag Harbor. What a treat! Sag Harbor Charters provides a unique opportunity to see some of the mega yachts in the Harbor in addition to all the wildlife on Shelter Island. His boat, the Marlinspeak, is very clean, spacious and comfortable. We loved getting to know the Captain - as a long time Sag resident, he offered up excellent recommendations (best restaurants, walking paths, etc.) and interesting stories. Highly recommended! Also, if you're in need of accomodations in Sag Harbor, the Captain has three lovely rooms available to rent through AirBnB. His beautiful home is a short 7 minute walk down historic tree-lined Main Street to Sag Harbor's charming downtown area. The house is located on the water, with sweeping views of Sag Harbor Cove from the flower-covered deck. The adjacent marsh is a bird watcher's paradise! Captain Hagen was a kind, gracious, and accommodating host. I stayed there for two nights, and cannot wait to return! read more

Captain Hagen took me, my husband, two daughters and their boyfriends out on the Bay on a sunny Saturday afternoon. What a great experience! His boat is not only beautiful but comfortable as well. Their are places to sit if you want to enjoy the sun but another area that provides ample shade. He took us to an area that was breathtaking in its beauty and we were able to see an Osprey hunting. The highlight of the trip was the swimming. We anchored and were able to swim off the side of the boat. The water was warm and we were able to swim to a beach. This was a lot of fun! We also saw celebrity homes and boats. I should also mention that I easily get seasick and wear sea bands. Captain Hagen took this seriously and made sure to navigate the boat so that I would enjoy the trip as well. He did an amazing job and I enjoyed the trip without incident. I rarely write reviews but am writing this one because our experience was so extraordinary that I felt compelled to write. We had a great time with Captain Hagen -- took a quick one-hour tour that was fun, beautiful, relaxing... and just the right length of time for our three-year-old's attention span. Mom and Dad got to see some sights (Billy Joel's boat!
