A Persian Restaurant I Keep Coming Back To
Safir in the heart of Şişli is one of my favorite Persian restaurants in Istanbul, and I've been here many times. I've tried a large part of the menu, and I've honestly been very happy with the food every time.
Some of my favorites are the kebab koobideh, Ghormeh Sabzi, Zereshk Polo with chicken, Ash Reshteh, Gheimeh Bademjan and Fesenjan. The food is flavorful, comforting and has that authentic Persian taste I look for.
I also really love their Mast-o Khiar, especially because they add plenty of walnuts. It's one of those simple sides that I always order.
And if you have a sweet tooth, don't leave without trying their Persian cream puffs and roulades. I also regularly buy their Noon Nokhodchi to take home -- they're perfect with tea. Their saffron tea with rock candy is another favorite of mine.
One thing I really appreciate about Safir is the generous portions compared with the prices. You get a lot of food for what you pay, which is becoming increasingly difficult to find in Istanbul.
A reliable, generous and genuinely satisfying Persian restaurant in Şişli. I keep coming back, and that probably says more than anything else! read more
