The store is always clean and employees are nice. The prices are always very high and not very competitive.

I've come to this location many times. With only 3 grocery stores it makes it difficult to have items stocked. Sometimes I have to come here for my glass milk cause other stores will be out. They also have a good deal of there heated meals. If I'm in a rush I usually will order online and pick it up after work. They are friendly and proficient. The ambiance can be chaos at times as it's across from two schools. So imagine after school all the kids/parents who are shopping. read more

We decided to walk into the pharmacy for a flu shot without an appointment and they were very helpful. They definitely keep the store cool - you might need a sweater. Otherwise clean and well stocked. Decent selection. Lines are reasonable. And Starbucks still makes everything better. read more

Thanksgiving dinner-so they advertised a fully cooked meal for 6-8 people. I pick it up & get home to find out I still have to cook the turkey for 3 hours. I ordered this because our oven was not working so just how am I supposed to cook it. I wasn't able to I called them & I was told to call the next day. I did & had to leave a message. I have emailed them 6 times requesting for someone to call me. Still no response. So I wasted $90 on a dinner that we wasn't even able to eat. I am still upset over all of this. read more

A big ZERO rating for the bakery at the Trekell and Cottonwood store. They switched the Bagel recipe (?) or source. The new source or recipe is substandard compared to the previous one. Some "bean counter" in management made a big mistake. The texture, density and size are crap and it looks like a low bid contractor was the winner. Noticeably there were more bagels left on the shelves when it's usually a stampede to get them. That alone says a lot about the degradation of a popular product. read more

I used to like going there but not anymore. Since they have done the renovations the customer service has gone downhill. Last Thursday my husband and I went there to get baked chicken pieces and salads at the deli. It was around 5:30pm and the deli area was already closed. When I questioned the deli manager, Terry, the next day, she informed me they close early when they are short staffed. Obviously they have a scheduling & staffing problem. Yesterday, again I had problems with customer service. There was an entire bin of Sugarbee Apples with no price label. When I questioned one of the produce staff, her response was "Don't worry about the cashier can tell you the price when you checkout." What was I suppose to do if the price per pound was not acceptable? Secondly, when I went to customer service to get a rain check redone as it had expired, the clerk gave me attitude. She said "the next time make sure you get the items on the rain check before expires." I would have if the store had the item before now. I had been waiting since mid-July for the store to get the item restocked. Lastly, I was in the checkout line and my items on the checkout belt, when cashier's computer froze. He was going to have to reboot his computer. We were told we had to move over to another checkout line. Needless to say we were not happy because we were initially told we would have to get back in line, after already waiting 10 minutes. We had to move our stuff ourselves while the staff stood around chatting & doing nothing. Eventually to one of the store managers arranged to put us first at the next checkout line and help move some of our stuff. The only reason I like shopping there is for the deli salads. I prefer to do most of the grocery shopping in one store. If there was another grocery store with deli salads I would shop there. read more

I used to really like your store. I haven't gone there for a while because I can't afford it, but today I was in there to get my blood drawn and decided to get some groceries. The isles were full of boxes. Employees were walking around talking chatting, blocking the isles. The store was full of people and you had one checker open and the rest was all automated with a grumpy overseer, it had significant problems. I'm super glad you guys are getting bought out by Kroger because otherwise I would be saying I'll never go back, I can just say I'll never go back until somebody else owns your store. The pharmacy is no longer accepting GoodRx for certain medications. I was told this is a pharmacist decision at each store. The price of one of my medications doubled. So we transferred all our prescriptions over to a competing pharmacy. Good customers don't go away mad. They just go away! read more

Why is there a keypad on the public bathrooms?!!!!!!?! First porta potties and now customers have to track down an employee to stop helping other guests to enter a key into the keypad to access the bathroom. Get it together guys. read more

I loved Safeway for a very long time. The quality is terrific, selection is excellent, and service used to be great. I do not use self-service cash registers. The frequent shopper discounts on my card did not appear when I used self-serve checkout, and I was told I'd have to come back the following day to talk to someone in customer service to get a refund. I went through a checkout line today and $25 in discounts did not go through when I entered my account. Going back into the store on a Friday night to save $25 is not my idea of effective customer service. Although I love the store experience I cannot continue to shop here if my card discounts don't show up at the register. I will have to learn to love Fry's if things don't improve at Safeway. read more

I only go to Safeway when there are sales, as the place is so overpriced and their service is not good. So, today, I had a coupon for a roast on sale (the sale started yesterday), and went in at noon, and there were no roasts or sale's signs for the roast anywhere in the meat/aisle section. I went to the meat counter, and was told by one meat worker to give him 7 minutes, and he would get to me. I had perishables in the car, but waited. Two other women came to the counter, asking for another type of meat, both on sale. The one got her meat, while I and the other woman still waited. There were 4 meat workers, and the guy who said he would get to me, just kept working on what he was doing (packing up the excess thick fat that had been trimmed off meat). He could have stopped and got that meat for me, but he made me wait until he was done with his project. I got irritated at waiting and left the store without the meat. Safeway should have the meats out on the counters ready when they have a sale, and not make customers wait 15 minutes and more to get the meat advertised on sale. read more

Just left Safeway. I have a 3 month old pug that has been with me running errands all day. I normally leave him at home. Today he has shown some anxiety so I decided to take home with me. Frys, Walmart, Food city never say anything when I bring him in. I place his blanket down then put him on it. I get my few groceries and walk by 2 store mangers that say nothing one pets him. I go to self check out where Jacqueline is working. She proceeds to tell me my dog is not welcome in the store or in the shopping cart where people place their food. First of all Jacqueline people place their children with nasty snooty noses and nasty soiled pampers in those shopping carts. Ok, I love Safeway better than the alternatives. However, was very frustrated to see NO lanes open except for the self checkout. Now really.... This is not a Walmart, and prices reflect that. I have not been to any training classes to work for myself in the self checkout. Also, I believe the self checkouts wouldn't be so horrible if the customer was compensated with 5-10% off their total bill. After all the customer is basically working for free when they check their own groceries, bag them, etc. Also, please make sure there are always carts available in the store. I've had seniors tell me they walked all the way into the store only to find no carts and had to walk back out to the parking lot to get one. That's awful, especially in this Summer heat. All I'm asking is increased help and more consideration for your customers. read more

I ordered a cake couple days ago for my twin daughters that are going to be 15 I came to pick up the cake a little early it wasn't ready, the lady said give her about 30 minutes so I walked around the store I came back and looked at the cake and it wasn't even the way I said this was all written down on a piece of paper tell the girl that's with the baker this is how I want it she said there's an extra charge I said that should've been said to me since the day I ordered it but then she was going to take it off the icing and redo it it's not gonna look right my wife was a baker before And it's unsanitary to keep on messing with food if it's already ready It was already out sitting, so the baker said well do you want it for free that's not the point it wasn't right so I didn't want it and that was unprofessional to say do I want it for free If I have to spend $30-$50 on a cake to get it to the way I want it then I would then the baker says I could put another cake together and I look over to the side and she's just taking the whip and just tossing it on there like nasty that's poor customer service so I told him I didn't want the cake I went to the front and talk to the store manager I told him the situation and he said that he's had problems with the bakery. This is my second time going in there trying to get a cake to be made same problem I wouldn't go in there no more to get a cake nor anything else because the first thing that the manager should've did was offer me some type of Store credit for all the bad inconvenience but now I have to go look for somebody to bake a cake for my girls I don't need the money but if I say I'm not gonna shop there no more the first thing he should've did was say wait let's make this right so anybody that reads this please look into it real good because it's the truth I have no reason to lie my girls are my everything and I will spend what I need to on them and I was just a real big letdown at the last minute now I have to find a baker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Safeway has the best meat and I usually just buy during their sales. These were not on sale. wanted thick steaks which the butcher cut special for us. He did so promptly and asked if they were ok. Terrible service in bakery. The main lady making cakes dark hair glasses very rude and changed the price. By rude I mean border line yelling at customers and being very nasty when asking about changing up a flavor to white chocolate. Safeway has the best fruit in town. It costs a little bit more, but sometimes I am willing to pay more for good fruit when guests are coming to my house. The deli is great, they have an amazing hot lunch and it is always a tasty change from burgers. I really appreciate them in Casa Grande, they have some unique products that Walmart and Frys do not carry. If there is a down side, it is the evening lines for the cash register. The manager needs to reorient themselves on this particular need of the customer. You should have a 15 item or less line at all times. It cost you a star, but never my business. I love Safeway! And yes, the app is crazy. It's not difficult to use, once you understand it. Therein lies the problem. It's not intuitive, it's a chore. Still love ya! read more

The meat department misleads the public by placing the sale yellow sticker on ground beef packages other than the item on sale. In other words check closely what % lean ground beef is on sale and the one you are looking for because they are all listed for same per pound price, very confusing. read more

Bad Customer Service We live far from this location, but since we enjoy going to the Promenade in Casa Grande, we usually swing by to buy lottery and see what deals they have. We have an existing 1 Reward at the time we visited. But because of the apps, there was a J4U promo of $1 for bread. But on the 1 Reward, if we spend $2 or more in the bread section, we get $2 off. What happened was the system took only $1 and then when I try to explain to the cashier there was a 1 Reward that said $2 off. She kept on arguing there was no reward. Either your apps has a bug that need to be fix because it clash with the J4U download. It is not a big deal for the $1, but this cashier doesn't need to be rude. The prices are really high compared to any other store in the area. I used to ok with this since it is right by my house, but they had self-checkout. Now if you just need a couple things the wait to check out is very long. Then after you check out the cashier makes a point to tell you to fill out the survey and give them a 10. I have seen the really tall manager in the front(not sure his name, but immediately you will know who I am talking about) just walk away when the lines are long. Go to Fry's it is cheaper and the service is better. I addressed the long lines with the tall manager and he was like yeah they get longer here since we took away self checkout. We live closer to this store than the Frys Marketplace so it is convenient when we need something in a hurry. The prices are much more expensive than others in town so we choose not to do our larger grocery trips here. The checking out process is noticeably slower and not as customer friendly. (i.e. They can't scan large/heavy items in your cart for you, so you have to put them on the conveyor.) I always shop at Fry's, but today I was near Safeway and decided to get a few things. First, the store doesn't look clean. Second, their prices are much higher than Fry's even with the Club discount. Third, I was in the meat department when two employees came out of the back and walked right in front of me without acknowledging me or to ask if I needed any help. They continued their conversation about a number on some meat packaging and returned to behind the meat counter. Fourth, I went to the Express lane, the one for fewer than 15 items (I had about 10). The checkout girl bagged my groceries, but left them all sitting on her counter rather than putting them into my cart. After I paid, I had to put my own items into the cart because she immediately started checking out the next customer - forcing me to hurry up and get out of her way. Forget you, Safeway. Since this is the closest grocery store to me I am always here. I love that you can check out yourself which saves time. You can get some really good deals here on chips cereal and soda. Plus there is a Starbucks inside with wifi! read more
