I hate to "bash" a family owned business. I have to be honest and say that this motel is pretty much the only choice in Winston. Since we were visiting family, here, this is the place that I booked. I was expecting a Motel 6 vibe, and that's exactly what we got. The place is very dated. Our room had an unpleasant moldy smell. The vibe was very 70's. Very simple, dated furniture in a carpeted room that didn't have much decor or ambience. Actually zero. The bathroom was also dated. Our saving grace is that the room was clean, and the shower was fine. The rooms are parallel to a busy street, so there's a lot of traffic noise. Opening our one window curtain had a view of older homes, and they could see right into us as we could see into their living room. For the price, it's okay. We will stay in Roseburg, next time we visit family who live in Winston. read more

I had a good time staying at Safari Inn Motel. It was reasonable at $60 a night. Cash deposit was a new thing, but I did get it back. Safari Inn is exactly what I'd expect from an economical roadside motel. The room and bathroom were clean. The bed was comfortable. There were towels, soap, shampoo, coffee and a 4 cup coffee maker as well as a microwave TV and fridge. The heater worked great! What more could you want? The owner was very professional and helped me when I locked my key in the room. I will definitely stay here again. You should too. read more

My niece and I are on vacation and drove eight hours to go to the Safari. We tried for several weeks to make a reservation for the inn but it would not let us complete the reservation form, so we said "f" it and just drove. We scored the last room available, thankfully someone called to cancel right before we got there. The room was pretty nice, but we were not able to take showers as the water barely got warm and took about ten minutes to even get there. The outlet above my niece's bed had something crooked inside so she wasn't able to plug her phone in. Everything else was pretty nice. read more

Met my needs perfectly, which were a safe and quiet place to sleep and a hot shower in the morning. Basic no-frills motel (does have wi-fi) that was exceptionally clean, and the staff was welcoming and friendly. I would definitely stay here again if I were in the area. I got a double queen room that had everything I needed, including coffee, plenty of clean towels and the heat worked great. read more

Very disappointing and unsatisfactory. I had personally called to make a reservation and told the man that we were elderly with mobility problems and needed a first floor room. He understood and made a note, he said. When we arrived, he stuck us in a second story room and said it was not noted down for first story. This room was very difficult for us to get all our bags and gear up the 15 stairs and he offered no assistance even though we protested. The room was bad. The AC made a horrible noise and car lights shone into the window all night. There was other people's leftover food in the refrig. I spoke to him again the next day, and he gave me a different story--that he'd noted down our needs but that the AC wasn't working in the room he'd saved for us on the first floor. So which story was true? Either one was not helpful for a horrible night's stay, and I'd suggest you try down the road instead. read more

This place is outdated and intimidating from the outside but prices are fair and we felt safe. We had two vehicles a car and a trailer which the back had plenty of room to park it. The room itself was clean not so good on water pressure for showering. But I must say it's located in a good spot for food and the Safari Park we got discounted tickets from the front desk and that experience was amazing. read more

We were surprised to find a small but clean room that was suitable for our needs. Shower handle broken. No hair dryers in room. Bathroom fan and bathroom window broken. We had a small mini dachshund that is a service dog and the manager was so mad at us and treated us terribly. This information was given to them in advance. I can see why the hotel is for sale. There truly is poor management and no attention to the customer needs. The only positive is that the rooms were clean but for $85 a night everything should be in working order. read more

He was really weird and got mad that we had gotten ice and my sister got sick and wanted to use the shower in my room and he yelled at her and said she was taking advantage and that he was gonna call the cops when I paid for he room. read more

Terrible experience from the check in . The WiFi did not work on all of my family's devices but the owner insisted that his worked. No customer service. In addition the rooms were dirty and smelly. Landed packing up and moving to a new hotel that was extremely customer focused. Be warned do not stay at this dirty and no service motel. read more

Recently under new ownership/management and remodeled this Inn has been renamed the Wildlife Inn. The new staff is courteous, helpful and friendly. The new look is beautiful and fits well with the Noah's Ark bible book store Ark exhibit and restaurant directly across the street. Located within 200 yards of the entrance to Wild Life Safari nature park the 3 properties frequently put together package deals which include tickets to the park, coupons for Noah's Ark and room discounts. As a church we frequently have out of town guests and speakers. We wouldn't think of putting them up anywhere else. The new look, remodel and the great new staff/management make this the place to stay if you are in the Winston Fillard area. read more

Run don't walk away! I asked to see the room first, I tripped going thru the door, when I looked down the carpet was frayed and pulled away from the edge. Shower looked like it had not been cleaned in a hundred years. There was a rig parked in the lot, not a problem Iam married to a teamster, but this was a refer unit that means it would be running all night. I dont at all agree with the poor reviews. While its not the Mariot, it is a decent motel and well worth the $58 we paid for 2 adults. The owner was very nice and the room was spacious, quiet and clean. The bed was on the firmer side and the pillow was flatter than I like, but hey, overall we had a good stay. We got in late to the hotel rang the bell and the staff came and helped us. The room was pretty big. The only complaint I really have is there was a faint smell of steal cigarets in the room. Clean, affordable, quiet, nice managers. Winston is a quaint little town on the way to the Siskyous and Gold Beach. I was so happy to find a very nice price on a queen bed last minute and the owners even offered us Safari tickets. We were on our way to the Coast so didn't end up going to the Safari. read more

This motel is very nice for the price. It was very clean. The beds are comfortable. They seem to offer a very large tv selection in comparison to any other hotel. It seems to be in the process of updating as it is aged a bit. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. It would be nice if they were a pet friendly establishment. My room has a BED BUG infestation. my husband booked this place because it was the only place with vacancies for the Labor Day weekend. The room we were given had a strong terrible odor and the bathroom sink and tub looked like they should of been replaced back in the 80s. We figured we could handle it for one night and my kids and I went to sleep. I was awoken by my husband yelling at the front desk clerk on the phone about bed bugs all over the room. We didn't see any before getting into bed. He discovered about four between the kids as they shared a bed. When he looked around he found more on the sheets. When I got out of bed I saw two of them when I flipped my pillow over and more on the sheets. It was incredibly gross. There were adult and baby bed bugs. We found them in the sink and tub as we gathered our things to leave. My husband trapped several in a cup to show the desk clerk. He apologized, gave us a refund and just wanted us to leave. It was almost midnight, we were tired and we were hours from home. We drove to a few places that were full, but we lucked out and found a nice clean place in Roseburg. Now we have to sanitize our clothes or burn them to make sure we don't bring the bugs home. If I could give this place the negative stars it deserved I would. read more
