Some items like chiefs wear may not be included in the sale. The volunteers and paid staff are friendly and helpful. They have three locations. Two are right next to each other and one is in Platte City.

I went here out of curiosity today. Unfortunately, like many thrift store trips, I didn't find…read moreanything I wanted to buy. The store was requiring people wear face masks to enter. I did not have one but the store was selling them for a dollar. The nice man (the employee who gave me a five star experience, not a two star) out front let me take one and said I could pay for it when I checked out. I went through the store which is very well organized and looks great. I even had a nice little chat with another employee who redirected me where the video games were. As I said before, nothing caught my eye, so I decided to "check out" and pay for my mask. This is where the trouble began... I get to the register and this older woman asks of I'm ready to check out. I say "I didn't find anything, but I'd like to pay for my mask though." She gave me a snarky look and sneered "oh we don't like you didn't find anything. We really don't like that." She slowly meandered entering the credit card info and slowly operated the cash register to prolong how long she could chastise me. I was in such shock at how badly she could talk to someone. Paying customer or not I was trying to be polite and she acted like a regular Karen taking advantage of how long she could scold me. My mind went numb and I can't recall everything she said but she just kept going. This story climaxes when she asked if I wanted a receipt. I figured I would say "yes" so I could show it to the man standing outside who trusted me to pay for the mask he was nice enough to give me. When I said I wanted a receipt she literally laughed and made some remark on if I wanted to keep a "COVID souvenir." When I said it was to show the employee outside I had paid for the mask she said "uh huh, sure. Have a good one" in a very dismissive tone. This was my first time coming to this thrift store and I don't know if I want to go back. I tried to be trustworthy and polite and the cashier just scoffed at me for as long as she could manage. The two employees who helped me out by either redirecting me or trusting I would pay for the mask inside were fantastic people. That said this woman's attitude was so toxic I don't think I can go back and not be reminded of the shock and disappointment I felt. Take her out if the equation and this place is five stars, no doubt.
