Early this summer I purchased Purina Pro plan with chicken bits in it from Petco, my dog loved it…read morebut a few weeks later he completely stopped eating it, i wondered why but didn't think much of it because my big dog would eat it sometimes. Then i started seeing what looked like a fly or 2 in his bowl, didn't think much again because Flies come in through the back door every now and then. Until one day I went to fill his bowl up and there were 2 worms on the lid of a sealed container, first i thought the chicken was rotten and got maggots, but when I opened the container MULTIPLE INDIANMEAL MOTH swarmed out, there was larvae and cocoons all over the inside of the container and moths walking all over the food, so I sealed it up and threw it away entirely. At this point it was too late because they flew around, laid eggs, got into the dog treats, and my food pantry. I had to throw out hundreds of dollars worth of food. This went on for a couple of months because they feed on anything. I had to store food in a cooler away from the kitchen or in my fridge, set out traps and deep clean everything, get rid of all my beans, pastas, rice, popcorn, crackers, flour, anything that they could feed on or that had eggs in it. They're extremely hard to get rid of. The other day I went to Petco to groom my dog (they turned him down because he was too matted, suggested i take him to a vet? I groomed him myself with scissors and it was not that hard lol) i walked my dogs around the store and then I saw a moth, i looked up and saw some cocoons and moths on the walls. Save yourself time, and all the food in your house, and DONT BUY DRY DOG FOOD HERE UNLESS YOU WANT 1000 MOTHS IN YOUR HOUSE.

I'm so upset with myself for going against my instincts and taking my dog here. The staff is…read moresuper friendly to you on the phone and in person. I fear once you leave that isn't the situation for the dog. First they told me my dog would spend little time in the cage. That there were pools he was going to play in. He was going to have so much fun. This was his spa day! We agreed that he was to be scissored trimmed. No buzzer. None of that happened. I picked up my dog, he embraced me like he just came back from a war. Jumped up on both legs and was hugging me. He kept that up for an extended amount of time. Every time he got down he jumped back up. I got him in the car and he was crying, which he never does. So I walked him. He had the runs, something fierce. I found that extremely odd, he hadn't strayed from his diet at home. When he gets back into the car, all the hair they trimmed off started falling all over the place. Like he wasn't combed or blown out after his trim. I went to take a drink of my water bottle and he literally got between me and the bottle. He was extremely thirsty. Which is weird for him, he doesn't drink much. I get him home and he is constantly licking his pee pee and his thigh. I see his thigh is full of razor burn and his pee pee seems inflamed. Remember the part about not using the buzzer on him? Obviously they did. He drinks more water and I notice white foam/drool coming from his mouth. That went on for about an hour. I don't know if he ingested shampoo or something in that shop that caused the foaming and the diarrhea. All day he was lethargic. He has a tracking collar, I can tell every step he takes. I can tell if the collar was off. So the collar stayed on the whole time and it registered 72 steps the whole 4 hours he was there. That bit about playing in the pool, having a bunch of fun, no cage time. That was a complete lie. He was the first one checked in, not sure why he had to stay there for 4 hours. My dog is not used to this type of treatment. No dog should be used to this treatment. I will stick to groomers where I am allowed to keep eyes on him the whole time. Also, this is the first groomers that did not ask me for proof of shots. Which means if they didn't ask me, they aren't asking other people. Which means they can be taking in sick dogs. Very scary!

It's difficult to find a good place to wash your dog in the house in my opinion. The dog washing area is actually my favorite part of this store. They have a selection of animals to purchase here but truthfully their selection of live animals was very lacking. We were looking to buy an aquatic frog and some goldfish but they were sold out of frogs and we were told that the goldfish had ick and couldn't be purchased at this time. It's worth a look if you'd like to check out their store but understand that their live animal selection is lacking.
