Idk what to say. I'm devastated. I thought hey it's not that bad until i straightened it and saw just how uneven and choppy it was. I had curly hair down my back and now I'll have to cut it shoulder length. Service was also bad. Immediately cut too much. Turned me away from the mirror. Took calls while doing my hair. The pictures are even with 1 month growth. Never again. read more

I was really satisfied with how Rudi took the time to texture my hair, being that I had a whole set of hair. I have thick Asian hair and I had alot of it. It means alot that he was patient with me and gave such good service. I mistakenly told him that LH aunty Lei did my hair but actually if I remember correctly, it was a Regis Salon in Kapolei and the young woman didn't know how or didnt feel the need to taper or texture it. Aunty Lei at LH Beauty had to try fix it. So right on! I will be definitely be coming back again. read more

I was looking for a salon to take my daughter to for her 13th birthday. Shes never been to a salon, but wanted to trim her hair and style it as well as do her eyebrows for the first time. I made an appointment for the both of us and my husband, but we needed to reschedule for reasons that were out of our control. When we went to our rescheduled appointment, the vibes weren't very welcoming. I felt uncomfortable most of the time. The lady who did my daughter and I was very professional though and kind. However the guy who helped check us out, needed to make it known that because we canceled our initial appointment he had to take off because we were his clients for the whole day. I already felt bad that we had to cancel, but I understood why he was upset. Everyone gotta make money. I'm pretty understanding and love to support local shops and had apologized, but could still feel the negative energy. I picked this place because of the amount of good reviews, but if you're gonna carry out an attitude over things out of people's control, then that's not a business I want to support. During the appt the while the workers were talking story he had said " I hate white people." I'm a light skinned kanaka, and felt like it was a message to me as well, but that's based off the vibes I was getting. I also just think that's unprofessional to say. I had planned to give extra money for having to reschedule, because that's just how I am. But after the vibes along with the sly attitude at the end, I decided to only tip the lady who did our hair. I give them 3 stars because the lady who took care of us did good, and i appreciated how she took care of my daughter. But the vibes from the other two workers were not for me. I think we're just gonna continue looking for a different home salon. read more

This is an update on Rudi's expert hair artistry from Feb. 2023. If I could give him 6 stars or more, I would and this is true of owner Sandra and her entire team. They all just instinctively seem to know what will look good on someone. So, with Rudi, I came in today with my graying, dishwater blonde hair for a balayage color. And this wonderful set of highlights is what I left with--feeling SO refreshed, lighter and just like a woman transformed. If you cannot grab an appointment with Rudi or any of the staff before the holidays, then make sure you RUN, don't walk to their new location in January in Nanakuli behind Island Recycling! A huge mahalo to Rudi and the entire team. Mele Kalikimaka and all the best to you folks on your move! read more

I had tried a couple other salons before that were just okay to me, before realizing that I should just go and check out S K Salon, which is so close to home for me. I hadn't done much color in my hair in awhile, but Rudi did an amazing job adding some newness and life to it! Not only that but the staff were so friendly. I will definitely be coming here regularly. Mahalo S K Salon! read more

My first hair fix in years! After children, I lost touch with my hair upkeep. However, after two stylists touched my hair with their magic, I've learned to love my hair again! Their expertise and experience gave me comfort and reassurance that this mom could find her confidence again. Would recommend anyone in the area to explore these hair gurus! In fact, people from all around the island make the drive to the wesside for their beauty needs. Also learned that brow services would be available in the coming weeks. Mahalo! read more

Awesome service I received, thank you Rudy!! I did a root color touch up and he did great at not only the color but washing, shampoo, blow dry, and style! He does the complete package at an affordable price, there is no surprise at the register. He doesn't haggle prices and not once mentioned anything about money or cost or how many procedures he needed to do. He knew exactly what to do and he went to work all with excellent customer service, professional and appropriate conversation. I will return for a full highlight in August. Excellent, and I highly recommend this gem salon in the rough of Waianae! Good job!! ~~MC read more

Top notch! Great quality of service and I do recommend getting your beauty done there. They have a website where you can select the service you want with the cost and even the hair stylist you can select to have it done with. I've gotten my haircut, then hair colored and just got my eyebrows tattooed. Love the people that works there and the positive vibe in the shop. A must go! read more

After trying and failing numerous times to cut my own hair and layer it, I decided to give SK Salon a try. It was recommended to me by several of my friends. The stylist they recommended was Rudi. I made an appointment with Rudi for today, and he is amazing! He literally transformed my hair from the dry, split end mess of waves it was in to beautiful waves and slight curls. I felt like crying because my hair looked so beautiful and felt so soft. It's never looked like this before. I had some questions regarding my hair, and he was thorough and knowledgeable with his recommendations. The other stylists are friendly and funny as well. Best salon I have ever been to! I have been coming to SK Salon, formerly known as Julies, for many years. With many failed attempts at other salons, I wouldn't trust my hair with anyone but Sandra. She's a great stylist, hairdresser and colorist. My hair looks & feels fabulous. The salon is cozy & peaceful & the customer service is friendly, warm & personal! Truly a great experience! I am very happy & highly recommend SK Salon to anyone that wants the same. Thank you Sandra! read more

Sandra did such amazing work on my granddaughter's hair!!! My granddaughter wanted red hair and she was able to do it for her. She did some peekaboo high lots and highlights on her ends as well. Her shop is in Waianae but it is definitely worth the drive from Central Oahu. Her shop is well maintained, clean and inviting. Go check her out for sure! Thanks Sandra! read more

Today was my first visit and I was very impressed. I arrived a little early, sat and watched as one client was having her hair colored and how quickly, professionally and adeptly the hair coloring application was done. The stylist that was to cut my hair was pleasantly and professionally finishing up with his client (beautiful job). Now it was my turn, I was greeted and introduced by name (Rudi) with a beautiful smile. Rudi asked my preference and I said "just whatever is simple for me to handle" he made some suggestions, and I left the rest up to him. I walked away with a huge smile and the knowledge that I'll be a steady customer of Rudi and S.K. Salon, he is the "go to guy" for me. I can only imagine how wonderfully good all the other stylists must be, thank you Rudi for such an awesome job. Lillian A read more

My first visit here as I'm looking for a new stylist on the westside and went with Julie who has been working here for a very long time. She knows her stuff! I'm not good at explaining what I want my hair to do but she interpreted what I wanted and gave me a fantastic cut! Lost a star since even with an appointment I had to wait 20 min to get seated. read more

I went in for just red and blonde highlights and left as a total redhead-the guy who did my hair said " oh my-the red bled onto the rest of your hair". How does a professional hairdresser allow this to happen? He acted like it was no big deal and didn't offer any solutions to fix this. I went to this place based on their 5 star ratings and was highly disappointed. read more

Began going to SK salon when it was initially julies place. Went there because a previous hairstylist completely did me wrong. Amazing stylists!! read more

This is the 2nd time I went to this salon. I made an appointment online as requested, and after 1 hour and 30 minutes later than the appointment walked out. Asked twice about how much longer it would be, and the owner of the shop said about 20 minutes more (this was when they were already 45 minutes late), but she would have Julie come talk with me. At 1 hour 15 minutes Julie came over and said she was only half done with the person she was working on. I asked if perhaps that person would let me get a cut because mine is quick-but she walked away and did not commit. TERRIBLE SERVICE, and you better not go there unless you have eons of time to waste. read more

Haven't done a thing to my hair all of 2020. Let myself "go". I live 5 minutes away from SK Salon and never been until today. I've been missing out all these years. The appointment making process was simple. I went online and chose the services I wanted. I received confirmation via text and email and let me tell you I love this process. Upon entry Julie took my temperature and I like the extra measures they take to make sure their clients are safe. There's sanitizer and everyone is masked. I went in for a consultation and Julie really took the time to listen to my concerns and offer honest feedback. After my consultation we got started. She is very experienced and you can tell she loves what she does. I ended up getting a cut, color and highlights and brows waxed, ALL MUCH NEEDED. I walked out feeling like a brand new person. I didn't pressured to do something I wasn't comfortable with and I didn't get belittled like other places when they see the box dye and diy haircut that I attempted myself. I will definitely be back. I've found my salon and my stylist. Mahalo Julie!!! read more

OMG! I couldn't be happier with the haircut I got. I came in with a photo of how I wanted my hair to be & it came out better then the photo I shared to JULIE. I'm not going to lie. I was so nervous, scared & my heart was racing once she started to cut because of how short (A-Line Bob) was. But I'm going to tell you this, IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!!! IM IN LOVE WITH HOW IT CAME OUT & HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE. thank you JULIE!!!!! Definitely coming back for sure!!!!! read more

I've been getting my hair done with Sandra for some years now and also started here when this was Julie's place. I took a chance with coming here after a failed appointment with someone off of social media. Boy was I happy that it didn't work out. I have super thick ( Polynesian) long hair. Sandra was the first to do anything to my hair and I never went anywhere else. I get my highlight done regularly every three months and will ask Sandra to spice it up every few years with something new if I work up the courage to stepping out on my highlights lol. Sandra and Julie are nothing but professional and when I'm at SK salon it feels like I'm at home. The Salon is always clean, the atmosphere is always good vibes and I love the girl talks with Sandra. Sandra knows a lot about hair and I appreciate that she takes the time with making me feel brand new each time I step out of there even with touch ups taking more then 5 hours, with the length and type of hair I have. If you're looking for the best head over to SK Salon you won't be disappointed. Ask for Sandra if you got the crazy Poly Hair like me :) read more
