Located in the beautiful countryside less than an hour from Montpellier, the rustic setting of Château de Lancyre sits in the area of Pic Saint-Loup.
Surrounded by limestone cliffs that are typical of the region, I was impressed by the whites that I tried here. The tastings are complimentary and instead of water to rinse out glasses between reds and whites, they use white wine.
The woman who ran the tasting room did speak some English and I was told that there is a distributor in California! (Henri Wine in Benecia to be exact.) Not a pricey wine in the least (don't recall but less than 20€), it was more the experience of tasting the various wines itself that left more of an impression. read more
