An amazing winery with a rich history. The staff takes great pride in their craft and are passionate about their wine . They produce a variety of wines. The majority being "Red", mixed in with a couple of "White" wines and a Ros'e. It's very unique in that the Chateau and winery are surrounded by the city of Sète. Beautiful gardens with stunning views. We tasted 3 wines. 2 Red and 1 White. My personal favorite was the Cuvée Folia rouge. Guided tours and wine tastings available upon reservation. read more

If you are in Montpellier, this is worth a side trip if calmness and a break from the urban environment is what you need. There is a spacious botanical garden to get some fresh air and appreciate nature, and you can tour the chateau. Throw in a wine tasting of some decent wine, and you can have a few hours of enjoyment. read more

We enjoyed walking the gardens immensely. At first it was a little sparse in upkeep near the beginning (including a dead lily pond). We also found the hedgehog tour sheet a bit infantile. The olive tree veranda was gorgeous with a perfect windy niche to sit in at the end. The garden is towering and has nice umbrage. It is sweetly done and we loved the gingko tree in the end. The wine tasting was a bit unorganized and not very well led. The ladies working rush you through and somewhat pretentiously sell the goods. Fun wine to taste on a leisurely day and take home, but not so much to rave about. Reliably enjoyable overall. read more

Established in 1696.

Flaugergues était exploité il y a 2 000 ans par les Romains qui y cultivaient la vigne et olives. Puis ce fut au tour des moines de Grammont il y a 900 ans. C'est à la fin du 17ème siècle, en 1696, que Étienne de Flaugergues, conseiller à la Cour des comptes,aides et des finances de Montpellier achète le domaine et fait construire le château. Pendant 45 ans, il agrandit et embellit cette maison des champs transformée en folie. A Montpellier, on appelle " folie " une résidence secondaire construite par les nobles locaux à la campagne mais, près de la ville. Une folie est également un centre de production puisqu'à Flaugergues plusieurs dizaines d'hectares de vigne s'étendent à l'arrière. Au 18ème siècle, on dénombre une quarantaine de folies et Flaugergues est la plus ancienne. Étymologiquement folio signifie " feuilles ", cela met bien en valeur la symbiose de la maison avec la nature, au milieu d'un domaine rural exploité, avec de magnifiques jardins.

I had been in Montpellier for two weeks before discovering this company. You can find a lot of…read morereviews on Instant Terroir on trip advisor, but I sometimes take those with a grain of salt. However, this tour was a real delight. From the prompt responsiveness of Edward, to the timely pick up near my hotel, the entire trip was one entire seamless experience. Edward met me downtown at the tourist office, we went to pick up another couple, and from there we were off to Pic Saint Loup! Our first stop was the Zumbaum Tomasi winery. From the moment that we got to the car, you could tell that Edward was passionate about wines. He explained to us how the different wines were made, and introduced us to the wineries managers. We tasted a rose and two reds. After that we drove off to the second winery, which was called the Mas Gourdou winery where we tasted a white wine, a rose wine, red wine, and a dessert wine. We got to meet the owner of the Vineyard. The beautiful thing about both of these Vineyards is that they're both organic and estate wines. The grapes are grown, harvested, and bottled at each one of the estates. these bottles of wine pretty special and not your every day supermarket wine. We capped off the evening with a wonderful dinner cooked by Edward's mom. Our first course was a delicious and expertly done phyllo dough stuffed with a local goat cheese and an olive topping odd. Our main course was then a pork tagine followed by Apple pie and a chocolate cake. Oh! Did I mention the bottle of wine that came with the meal? The meal far exceeded our expectations!! We were so stuffed at the end. Edward drop us off at the end of the evening. If I were to ever come back to France I would definitely do the tour again.
