Very old-style and homey Polish interior: flower-printed table cloths, candles, wooden chairs, and very majestic, castle-inspired furniture and decor. Our waiter was more than just polite. He never turned his back at us when leaving our table, but instead backed away slowly and out, which made us feel royal. At start, he served us an appetizer on the house: a Polish traditional food called "szmalec." We then ordered a couple traditional Polish foods. They serve most Polish dishes. The food was amazing, and as I usually request, he made sure my dish was gluten free. I had the deer ragout, which was delightful. My friend tried the Polish beet soup and dumplings filled with ground meat. At the end, our waiter served us two glasses each of two different liqueurs commonly drunk in Poland. We had wine to the meals. The check ended in around 180 Polish zlotys, which equals around $57. I highly recommend this secret place. Even though it won't be such a secret for very long then.

Incredible quality vegan Polish food with a modern flare…read more A friend & I stopped in for lunch quite hungry, so we ordered two different types of pierogis (spinach & tofu, and cabbage & mushroom), which can be made fried, baked, or boiled -- we did one baked and one boiled. We also ordered a portion of the buckwheat pancakes. Since it was busy, it took a while for the food come out (~25 mins), but it was worth the wait. The pierogis were very tasty, being filling, balanced, and well-cooked, served with side salads. The buckwheat dish was the highlight, however, with an incredible array of flavours and textures. All in all, top-notch food, affordable, pleasant environment. High recommendation.

These were INSANELY delicious, I liked them even more than the non-vegan ones I have had in the past. I wouldn't hesitate to bring non-vegans here at all. I don't know how they got the smoky bacon taste in the spinach one but I'm so impressed. It also came with a delicious side salad that was fresh and paired really well with the heavier dumplings. I can't wait to come back and try their cabbage and mushroom ones! I ordered for takeaway and they were still amazing heated up at home. You do pay 2 zloty for takeaway.

At this hour of the day, the selection of bread and pastries was rather limited (which is understandable) so I tried the "pain au chocolat", croissant, and regular "baguette". The "pain au chocolat" and "croissant" were both good although they could have used a little more butter in their preparation. On the other hand, I was disappointed by the "baguette": it lacked sponginess and felt dry. You might argue that this is due to the fact that it wasn't bought fresh out of the oven in the morning. But anyways, a good "baguette" should still be good at 4 p.m. and is usually still OK the next morning. I don't think I'll be going back for their famed "baguette" as there are other bakeries/shops (e.g. SAM) where you can get good bread in Warsaw. All of these undoubtedly won't be using flour imported straight from the Fouché mills in France but seriously, who cares ? (Nice marketing though)

The shakshuka was also great, but a bit different from what I typically have in the US. This tomato sauce was slightly sweeter, and there was no cheese. The mezze boards are a great way to try out a bunch of different items, and the Neve Tzedek came with 6 mini falafels, muhammara (a walnut and red pepper paste), black olives with rosemary, couscous, and three different kinds of vegetables: cumin-spiced Moroccan carrots, marinated beets, and marinated radishes. The board also came with chewy pita bread and two different kinds of sauces: a mustard aioli and a mango-chipotle sauce. I also added a ramekin of hummus to this board, which was super creamy and perfect for dipping with the falafels and pita! Next, I tried the shakshuka with "meat," a tomato and pepper stew topped with imitation gyros, tofu-feta, red onions, and tahini. Both the mezze board and shakshuka were tasty dishes, though relatively expensive for the portion sizes. Nevertheless, this made for a fun option for a healthy meal!

We splashed out on the omakase set (79 PLN/person, which is a lot less than you'd pay for something similar in any big city in the U.S. Pricey by Warsaw standards; not so bad if you're paying with euros or USD). We were served a wide variety of plant-based sushi, done in different styles - thin rolls, thick rolls, rice-outside rolls, multiple kinds of nigiri style. There was even a sweet inari (tofu skin stuffed with rice) with plum at the end of the meal. It all looked lovely, and tasted delicious. The highlight was nigiri made from celeriac and lovely pieces of rice wrapped with seaweed with puréed toppings (see the photos!) The omakase was the perfect amount for two very hungry people with good appetites to eat to the point of being nicely full without feeling overstuffed. They have an English menu, and both servers spoke English well. I recommend making a reservation if you go on a weekend night; it was hopping even after 9 and 10 pm on a Friday. The only drawback: the service was very slow, which I don't really mind. But the service we got appeared to be significantly worse than the other customers. We ordered tap water at the beginning and weren't brought any until we specifically asked for it again (even though other tables who arrived after us were brought water before we were, and without asking twice.) Every other table was brought ginger and wasabi automatically before their food arrived, and we had to specially request it after the first dishes had been brought to us. And a table that arrived well after us and ordered the omakase as well was getting their food at around the same time we were (which may just be a pacing issue, since they were busy.) I'm pretty sure that we were the only foreign tourists/English speakers in the restaurant, and I suspect this is what made the difference between the service. This wasn't enough to ruin the meal, but it was distracting and disappointing.

You've got a quaint little spot that's tight but right--like the perfect pair of boots. The atmosphere? It's cozy, with a dash of refinement, where aged meats sit in their little "time machines," giving you a peek at the craftsmanship that goes into each bite. And speakin' of bites, those dumplings stuffed with oxtail? Well, I reckon you could set down your knife and fork and just grab 'em with your hands, because they're that good. A whole mess of flavor wrapped in delicate dough--pure comfort with a gourmet twist. Now, the Polish beef--well, bless its heart--aged 90 days and served with a peppercorn sauce that's a little bit regular, a little bit hard-hitting. Roasted garlic alongside it? Well, you've got yourself a party. You could say it's a flavor symphony, but I'm more inclined to call it a masterpiece, painted with a little bit of heat and a whole lot of love. And don't you dare skip the Spanish Padron peppers. They're roasted just right, bringing a bit of the Mediterranean to Warsaw. If you ask me, they're like the secret song on an album--unexpected, but the kind of flavor that sticks with you long after the meal's over. Now, if you think this place isn't impressive enough, let me tell you--this restaurant holds its own against *Casa Escobar* in Antigua, Guatemala. And that, my friend, is a mighty fine compliment. As for dessert, well, when you close out with sticky toffee pudding and a 20-year-old Graham's tawny port, it's not just dessert, it's an experience. A sweet note to end on, like a perfect evening under the stars. I'll tell you one thing: this night in Warsaw will be one I'll remember fondly--like a slow dance with a glass of something smooth and a plate of something even smoother.
