Inspired by Art Nouveau interiors she had worked on in Brussels, she started creating decorations for restaurants and, when she couldn't find the materials she needed, had them made for her. In 1993, she started selling tiles and paints in a small shop in Brussels. A disciple of William Morris, she designs everything herself, travelling widely to source the best materials and craftsmen. Her tiles and wrought iron work are made in Morocco, rugs are hand knotted in Nepal, glass tiles and stones are cut in India, paints are from Belgium, textiles from Europe... In Brussels, Agnès has opened a workshop where her designs are hand printed bespoke onto wallpaper and fabrics. Lately, she started an atelier to paint by hand on tiles, and in January 2012 Emery & Cie moved its major showroom to the canal bank of Brussels, a former building by Victor Horta.
