So, the second time I've visited a Paperchase "Travel" branch, this store does stand out a little more appearing to be more modern than Leeds, albeit it appears to be smaller. The selection is really basic and limited due to the size of the store and mainly consists of fancy and overpriced pens and mediocre high-end gift-cards. I came in to buy a bag, which the staff member did charge me for, normally they avoid the long card transactions and don't mind giving me a bag at other stores, but they charged me for it - I thought okay as it was only 5p. Just as I left the store, a member of staff followed me and was looking around me and my friend, I think she was accusing us of stealing and trying to catch something with our other bags or suitcases as she circled us, standing outside the store and left straight away. Do they not trust me? I thought that was just really bad service, why would I want to steal their tacky shit anyway, which would probably be a minor insult to receive, and perhaps worse to buy because of the overpriced nature. The main focus of this shop is things like cards, gift bags and small gifty items - you know, the sort of things you forget and have to buy on the spur of the moment! There has always been 2 members of staff in the shop when I have been in, always talking to each other but as soon as anyone requires help or to pay for something they stop talking which I find quite nice as most sales assistants would try and carry on their conversation! As for Paperchase itself, it is all lovely quality and all their designs are unique, fashionable and bright.

Good job. The shop itself is good if only because it is large - a large stationary shop has a large area with which to display and sell a large amount of goods. There is absolutlely everything a student or businessman could want here - ledgers, folders, ring binders, pens, all in different colours, qualities and prices. The staff are pretty reclusive and don't offer much in the way of communication (reminded forcibly of a small puppy I was, when dealing with one particular assistant) but it's a stationary shop so you're pretty much expected to sort your own damn stuff out. A necessary outlet, to be sure.

I knew my inner stationery fiend would get completely carried away if I started browsing (it's packed with all the supplies you could want, though most you could probably nick from your office stationary cupboard, not that I'm advocating that ahem), so I asked the lady behind the counter if they sold raffle ticket books; she went one better than pointing me to a shelf and kindly walked me right over to them. I was impressed by the range even of this one (slightly out of the ordinary) product - which came in a variety of colours and sizes. I nabbed two books of standard sized 500s for a very reasonable £5 and skipped back to the office to start selling them :)

Mr Isaac is an antiquarian print specialist, selling a variety of fine and decorative prints at various different price points to suit most budgets. However he also has a framing workshop and it is this that I am reviewing here. I went to David with a very tricky framing project-I have an antique European carpet fragment that I wanted framed in such a way that the knotting on the back could still be seen without the need to unframe it. As a result, my frame has UV filter glazing back and front and the frame had to be built up to take the extra weight and to cope with the thickness of the piece of carpet itself. After some head-scratching, the firm took on the challenge and completed the job to a very high standard in just a few weeks. The price was also surprisingly reasonable-an 8th of the price of one quote I received from another firm and still around 30% less than most others. I had had the chance to see some of the firm's frames in the past as they exhibit their prints at several London antiques fairs and had been impressed with them. They had also come highly recommended by a furniture dealer who uses them for any framing jobs he has. I'm extremely glad I chose Isaac and Ede for this job and will ask them for any further framing I may require in the future as they were a joy to deal with.

I am a big fan of William Morris, but even so, this gallery exceeded my expectations. I love that…read morethe location is an actual home he lived in! His work is gorgeous and he lived a very interesting life, so all the exhibits were fascinating. I had no idea he was so versatile, making wallpaper, rugs, furniture, and even books! The gift shop and cafe are both lovely as well and one fun feature was the patterned bathroom doors (see picture). Definitely worth a visit!

Charming little museum dedicated to the work of William Morris, set up in his childhood home. It's…read morehard to believe this huge house was what the Morris family downgraded to during tough financial times. But there you have it. There are some lovely displays detailing Morris' background, craftsmanship, work and influence. As well as details on his contemporaries and socialist inspired work. The museum is also home to a shop full of pretty William Morris patterned items. The cafe is full of light. Glass fronted and looking on to the delightful Lloyd Park. The gardens are absolutely beautiful in the summer. A lovely sunny Sunday activity if you are in E17 or a fan of design.

This is quite a large branch with a wide range of items. The trouble with W H Smith at the moment is it doesn't know what it is. Is it a book shop, a…read morenewsagents, a sweet shop? So they try to cram everything in that they think someone might need. This means you have to walk an assault course to get to the back of the store. This branch in Uxbridge has actually got a lot of floor space but you couldn't tell on first glance due to the massive displays and no space in between. I would hate to have to push a buggy around, your poor baby would have Cards and magazines crashing on it's head. The one thing I do like about this shop is the self service tills. You don't have a depressed member of staff trying to sell you half price chocolate. As you scan your own stuff. Much better when you nip in for a birthday card. This does have a great selection if birthday cards. But every time I leave I'm thankful I made it out alive!
