It's a Ryman. Nothing generally to crow about. Rather expensive, but has what you need when you need some stationery. The staff here are very helpful, however, and kept me from wasting time elsewhere with some copy-related needs. Yay! read more

They have a great selection of stock (the greetings cards are hilarious and my absolute favourite) and at prices that are far cheaper than the larger chain stationers which are close by. All in all a great find and my new first port of call for stationery. Oh, and they'll even make you a fancy coffee as you browse through their collection. What else could you ask for?

I sometimes have a hard time what I actually need and not need. Always ask for student discount. I would not buy their expensive ink cartridges. However, there unique selling point is that you can send a fax! Who would have thought I would use fax in our generation of technology - but that time it was urgent and the only solution. You are also able to do photocopies: both - black & white and colour prints. The owner is very kind - if you need something specific, you could ask him to order it for you, it might take a couple of days but is less hassle. They are specialised in sketchbooks and lots of sketching paper - the worst thing, which can happen to a student running out of paper at the weekends. Note: Perry's is open on Saturdays only!

Either way, I just don't really use stationers much now. That being said, I still love their specialism and their smell. This one is a pretty good example of the breed, lots of stock, pretty decent collection of art and graphics materials plus they also sell a bit of office furniture (machines) and computer supplies. Comprehensive and reassuringly busy most of the time.

The place was packed (after work hours) and they had stuff ranging from pointless / useless to useful items for the any place in your home. The staff were friendly as well as helpful! This grumpy old sod was moved to smile, drawn in and with predictable consumerist energy sucked into spending £30 quid on a selection of stuff. With an Ikea aesthetic and set out in a one way route you get to see and be presented with everything they have on offer. And just like to Ikea market area you cannot seem to pass through without taking advantage of the unbelievable bargains. Surrounded mainly by women who were so overexcited by all the shiny cheap trinklets on offer I was moved to smile some more and shift quickly to the checkout and think myself lucky they only got 30 quid out of me......this time. You have been warned.

So what if the place was small and all surfaces seemed to be covered in black splotches of printer ink. I admit, I waited for an unexplainable 20 minutes to receive my printer cartridge after I handed it over to be refilled (I mean, how long can this process REALLY take?). But I got a full cartridge of ink for £7 whereas it would have cost me £30 to buy a new one at WH Smith. And I was being eco-friendly. So, there. I'm saving the environment and my money. (Okay, so I was really aiming to save my money and the environment thing was just a fortuitous causality. But, either way, I'm a fan.)
