Owner, Matt Evans, is coward who will take all your money, but refuses to communicate to paying customers on their second homes. Free WIFI is a joke. He advertised as Fast Free WIFI, but when anyone would message him regarding it not working, he refused to answer. I believe his advertisement now is that the pool is arriving soon. You will have a better chance seeing pigs fly before that happens. And don't bother asking for an update on the pool or WIFI or you will be fined $20.00.  He attempted an inflatable waterslide in leu of no pool. This thing was up maybe 3 times throughout the whole summer. Not to mention it was sitting on a pile of weeds and cockleburs. These poor kids had miserable pain after this awesome waterslide!! The playground is basically a land of misfit parts. It's about halfway put together and the other parts have been laying on a piece of plywood along with screws, nuts & bolts for kids to eat or just throw around for fun! My 3-year-old had a blast throwing them all over every weekend!  And the turf that I assume is supposed to be under it, is still rolled up. Not sure why he doesn't just finish that project? I can confirm when I pulled my camper out of there on Oct 13th, it still was in this same condition. He has zero follow through on things. He has an event center that is locked most of the time and the vending machines eat your money. We had the camp manager tell my husband that he doesn't need to be nice to anyone. I texted Matt Evans asking him to call me when it worked for him because I wanted to discuss his camp managers behavior. I didn't want to text or email because tones can get lost, and I wanted him to hear the whole story. He wouldn't respond back to me, I resent the message a time or two and he finally responded to me stating all non-emergency comments must be submitted by email and he doesn't have time to talk to campers. I reminded him that I did not ask him to call me right now, I asked him to call me when he had a chance. I ended up emailing him and I was then advised text/emails/calls are not allowed, and if we did, we would be fined $20.00. Communication is the KEY to running a successful business. I know several people who really didn't care about the pool or WIFI, it was the fact that he responded in such a way or lack of, when people did ask. He obviously needs to hire some sort of HR person to handle his calls/text and emails because he has zero social and communication skills. He continually threatened people with fines for all sorts of random things. Oh, and he also charges more than the electrical company does for electric. He is only in this for the money, not to build a community for people to camp. I could go on and on with more detail, but campers reading this, PLEASE do you research and do not give this man any of your money. I do expect him to comment on this post and turn it around and how it's our fault blah blah blah...If anyone wants proof of his horrible ways of talking to people, please feel free to email me. I have emails and text with him! I will say however all the campers were amazing and fun. Never had an issue with a neighbor or anything

The scenery here has this wide-open, tranquil, almost cinematic quality to it -- rolling greenery, shimmering water, peaceful shorelines, endless skies, and the quiet movement of the Missouri River weaving its way through the landscape like a living ribbon cutting through the heart of America. There is something deeply calming about this place. For visitors unfamiliar with the area, the recreation area sits along Lewis and Clark Lake, which was created by the Gavins Point Dam on the Missouri River. The region is named after the famous Lewis and Clark Expedition, which traveled through this part of the country in the early 1800s while exploring the vast Louisiana Purchase territory. Standing near the water, it is honestly not difficult to imagine how enormous and untamed this landscape must have felt to early explorers centuries ago. My husband especially wanted to stop here because one of his hobbies is flying drones, and he absolutely loves capturing aerial footage of the Missouri River as it winds across different states. At this point, I think the Missouri River and my husband are in a long-term relationship and I am simply there as emotional support and snack distribution. And honestly, I understand why he loves it so much. The Missouri has such a distinct personality depending on where you encounter it. My husband and I have followed portions of the river through several states over the years including South Dakota, Missouri, Montana, and North Dakota, and we have even taken river excursions on it in other regions. Each stretch somehow feels slightly different while still carrying that same immense presence and quiet historical weight. But this particular area near Yankton felt especially serene. The water was beautiful, the surrounding scenery was lush and vibrant, and the peacefulness of the area made it very easy to lose track of time simply standing there taking it all in while my husband happily maneuvered his drone around like a man conducting an aerial symphony. It truly was one of those unexpectedly lovely stops that quietly stays with you afterward.

There are plenty of camping an RV areas to set up camp. There are also a lot of parks, and bathrooms. There are trails that outline the lake, as well as trailed set closer to the highway. There are multiple entry points, but well paved roads, and signage to guide you. All the park officials we've ever ran into are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend stopping here to stay, or on your travels.

Spent three days with extended family spread over two cabins. Very minimalist but comfortable. One…read moreroom had two bunk beds, best described as similar to naval beds with odd dimensions. Mattresses were covered in plastic and measured approximately 30" wide by 72" long by 4" deep. Linens were provided. Second room had a full (NOT queen) bed lifted pretty high. Elderly or disabled persons may need different accommodations to stay in this room because the top of the mattress was at least 36" above the floor. Linens were also provided. The cabin was furnished with all basic kitchen utensils, pots, pans, and dishes for four people. Dish soap was also available. A four burner range with oven, microwave, toaster, and basic fridge/freezer. The air conditioner cooled the main livingroom/kitchen space, but not the bedrooms. There was a wall-mounted flat screen TV that we did not use, so I cannot review it. Bathroom had towels and wash cloths for at least four people. Water pressure was great and the water got plenty hot. The back of the cabin had a sizeable screened porch with a table and four chairs. The porch exited to a small picnic table with a very basic park-style square grill where charcoal or wood could be used to cook. No firepit or fire ring was located near the cabin. Amenities included a nearby pool and horseback riding on select days. Hiking was minimal and limited mostly to mowed paths. Perfect for casual walkers or families with small children.

Four hours later and over two hundred and fifty miles of driving the campground called and said the cabin will not be ready for the first night. They suggested I get a hotel and then check in on day two. I asked if I could check in early since they made the mistake. I was told that cabin cleaning wouldn't be done until 3 pm so I canceled the whole reservation. This was very unprofessional and because of that I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone!
