Firebird 2002 Pontiac Firebird WS-6 with 6 speed manual transmission. Traveling from MS to CO and back to MS. Clutch started acting up (dragging, hanging up at bottom of stroke) in CO. Locally recommended mechanic checked it out by sitting in car, depressing clutch, and shifting it. Mechanic said it was pilot bearing. Couldn't get to it for six weeks because of shop repair load. Other shops backed up the same way. Said ok to drive and wouldn't be a problem. Clutch continued to get worse, getting to the point it would go to the floor and stick after simply touching the pedal at the top of the pedal stroke. Went to locally recommended repair shop in Bayfield. Shop also backed up but owner would work it in for my friend. After sitting at the shop all day, said it was slave cylinder leaking but ok to drive. Take several days to get parts and repair it. Left and drove to Mt Pleasant, Tx. Clutch getting worse to the point I was expecting total failure. Friend recommended Rychliks. Took car to Rychliks late on Thursday afternoon. Talked to Wesley and told him what other mechanics had said. Wesley/Rychliks were also backed up but he'd work it in. Rychliks ordered parts they thought it would need that Thursday evening/night. Started repair Friday morning. Shirley called me and said they had the parts but one part (clutch?) was expensive and did I want them to continue. I said yes. She replied maybe the expensive part wouldn't be needed. Got a call around noon Friday that they had it back together (the "expensive" part wasn't needed), but also needed a clutch master cylinder, which was hard to find. There were ones in Dallas, Houston, and Oklahoma City. Hopefully they could get one in Saturday morning. My friend drove me to Dallas and we got the master cylinder. Returned to Rychliks about 5pm that Friday evening and Beau started replacing the master cylinder. Saturday just before noon, Shirley called me that my Firebird was repaired. Had replaced worn out throw out bearing, slave cylinder, and master cylinder. Pilot bearing, clutch, and clutch fingers were all good and the repair cost was very reasonable. Plus, the clutch works great, as good as it did when the car was new (I bought it new and it only has 49,000 miles on it). Thank you Wesley, Beau, Shirley, and the rest of the mechanics who worked on my car. You did a great job and I really appreciate it. You are a Christian organization and a pleasure to do business with. By the way, yes, I do work on my own vehicles and farm equipment, having replaced clutches, brakes, rebuilt engines, etc, so I had a pretty good idea of what sounded reasonable (Pilot bearing sticking? Hmm, not likely). Yes, I could have replaced/repaired it myself at home with my tools and access to a lift and transmission jack. However, I was concerned the clutch wouldn't get me home plus at 73 years of age, repairing vechicles isn't nearly as much fun as it used to be. read more

5 stars isn't high enough. I have used Rychliks Auto for 15 years for everything from oil changes to major body work. The owner Wesley and body work tech and mechanics Greg and Billy Bob have always done a outstanding job with a fast turn around on my vehicles. I have not found any better garage. They have always been fair, upfront and honest on all the work they have done. I just had to have my Jeep put in the shop in January for $5,900.00 worth of body work after a woman hit me. They had my baby up and running in 2 weeks after the insurance adjuster gave the go ahead. It looks brand new again. I would recommend them to anyone, they have a great team that is friendly, honest and does quality work at reasonable rates. OK , the Problem is with this shop is there Diagnostic Charge , they charge you 100 bucks on top of the labor Charge for a simple Spark Plug fix they charged me 200 labor and the Part charge 100 , 400 bucks can you say ridiculous Good thing I had my own spark plugs cause then it would have been 500 Other than that Ill be going to another shop. read more

The last time our van had a problem, it was en route home from Florida, on a sunday, with nothing open in Benson, NC, and it turned out our van's transmission was caput. Talk about a kick in our collective crotches. So this time around, on a longer trip, and the van having aged a bit more, we were all half expecting to not make it home. And cue the funny noises and bouncing. We pulled over to investigate what the cause might be, assuming the worst, and feeling uncomfortable with continuing the remaining three hours to Hot Springs, we called Triple A to find a reputable helper. The only time I had ever been to rural Texas (where we were wasn't particularly "rural" but it wasn't a city, and we could have been stranded) was via films like "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" so I had no idea what to expect. We pulled off the back road type setting to Rychlik to find a parking lot FULL of vehicles, and a bunch of garages with occupied lifts. We assumed we'd be stranded for hours--DAYS EVEN!!!--and had every plan to call the next venue and tell them we wouldn't make it. However, within 20 minutes, they had diagnosed the problem, and less than an hour later, we were back on the road heading to our next show. I can't say enough for a mechanics shop that puts other projects on hold to help the city folk get to their next concert on time. Amazing service--really got us out of a bind!! read more

Had transmission issue. Rychlik was prompt at coming out to tow but it went downhill from there. After 30+ days and a few thousand $ I received my vehicle back with a rebuilt transmission. Within 10 days or normal driving (no towing, etc.) it exhibited the same problem (wouldn't get out of 1st gear) and left me stranded. Rychlik towed it again and, 30+ days later I got it back with a newly rebuilt transmission. This time it lasted nearly 2 months - again leaving me stranded. Again it was towed. This time they opted to install either a new or known good used transmission - I went with the used (the new was going to cost as much as the vehicle was worth). Two days later I began, again, having transmission issues. They charged me for towing each incident, a hefty price the first rebuild and another substantial cost for this latest, used, transmission. Talking with others who've had work done there, it appears Rychlik may be OK at small jobs - mufflers, batteries, but don't appear to know what they're doing with transmissions and engine work. read more

Had my SUV towed here to Rychlik's for overheating. I had called ahead and was quoted $75.00 to pick up my SUV and bring it to their shop. The tow truck driver, was very professional & friendly. Later, I Received e-mail of estimate for new radiator and thermostat. Estimate said $80.00 for engine diagnostics. Via phone, I questioned the owner, Mr. Rychlik, about the $80.00 for engine diagnostics. He started whining about how he invested $30,000 in diagnostic equipment and that engine diagnostics should be done. Pardon me, but when the temperature gauge redlines, the engine overheats, the "check engine" light goes on and you can see coolant leaking from the radiator, you don't need $30,000 of diagnostic equipment to know what the problem is. I told him I thought the $80.00 charge to shut off the "check engine" light was excessive. He agreed to charge me $30.00 for the so called "diagnostics". In the same conversation, Mr. Rychlik also whined that he usually charges $150.00 for towing from where my vehicle was located. Really? As I mentioned , I had called ahead and Rychlik's quoted $75.00, right from the start, to pick up my SUV and bring it to their shop. Immediately after paying for the repair I started the SUV, while still in the lot at Rychlik's Auto Service, to see the "check engine" light was on. I immediately went back inside and spoke with Mrs. Rychlik about the "check engine" light, she said that the shop staff was out at the site of a wreck and I would have to come back to have the "check engine" light turned off. I called back spoke to Mrs. Rychlik' a couple days later to make arrangements to shut of the "check engine" light off and was treated very rudely and told I didn't pay to have the check engine light turned off. I simply hung up the phone. Now while the SUV was at Rychlik's I also asked that the brakes be inspected. I was advised via e-mail that I needed pads front and rear. The front rotors needed to be ground. The rear rotors needed to be replaced. However, the written estimate stated the cost of new rear rotors plus the cost of grinding the rear rotors. So which is it? Again I spoke with Mr. Rychlik, who said I needed new rotors and the charge for grinding the rotors was a mistake. Really? Another local shop gave me an estimate, for front and rear brakes, within days and said don't let any one tell me that I need anything but pads and grind the front and rear rotors. Needless to say I'll go elsewhere for the brakes I paid $645.00 for a new radiator, thermostat coolant and towing; but Rychlik's didn't think I paid enough to turn off the "check engine" light? I'm from out of State, but I may have about 500 Texas facebook friends. I guess they'll be getting a copy of this posting. read more

Rychlik's is the best business I have dealt with all year, auto or otherwise. They got a tow to me and rushed me to get a rental car so I could continue a road trip while they worked on fixing my car. They were able to make the repair and minimize further damage. Even offered to deal with the previous mechanic that caused the damage. They really went the extra mile so I could go the extra mile (road trip humor). When my motorhome broke down on I-30 west of Mount Pleasant I called Rychlik's Towing and they responded rapidly to tow my motorhome in and replace the broken fan belt. I have never seen such rapid response as was provided that day.Mr. Rychlik and his team of employees went to work on the MH and had me up and going in a short time and they were courteous and professional all the way. The cost was very good and the attitude of each person was so very positive. The people of Mount Pleasant, Texas are very blessed to have such a business in their community. Yelpizens of Northeast Texas I-30, After being mistreated by Rychlik's wife/office manager/bookkeeper when trying to arrange for a discounted jump for a battery I purchased six months previous, I walked away. She couldn't be gracious about her unbending policy, but was harsh and terse. It was if she was mad at someone and took it out on me. My repeat business meant nothing to her. Sadly, it wasn't the first time she was ugly to me (or to others while I looked on from the waiting room). I didn't expect a free jump, but I thought at least a discounted jump was fair, considering. But a gracious 'maybe next time' would've probably caused me to keep going there. Since she acted like she didn't want to keep my business, I went to Billy Craig. Billy has been in business as long or longer than Rychlik's, and is much busier, with good reason. Billy is a much more professional and responsive businessman, with no turnover in staff and earns customer loyalty with his much more competent and friendly service. No one is perfect, so mistakes happen to everyone. But how you handle it makes all the difference. Rychlik's wife (who seems very depressed and eats accordingly) is bad for business. If you want to take your chances that she'll be off that day, good luck. Their mechanics are competent, and the only reason I kept giving them another chance, but getting past her is an ordeal. You will have no such trouble at Billy Craig. read more

When you go to a mechanic, you want to have the work done well, at a reasonable price, and in a timely fashion. I had a wonderful experience here when my car broke down on the way west from Tennessee. They work quickly the prices were very reasonable and they were very kind. The owner even loaned me his personal car to use overnight. read more
