I paid $13,000 - for 8 trees and Derek had to be the most unfriendly, disrespectful and rude businessman I have ever met! The purpose of the tree removal was 2-fold. It was for safety around the home and also to provide LOTS of firewood! He knew this. He never introduced himself - I had to ask who was Derek when I went out to greet all the guys that showed up. Even once he raised his hand he still did not come over to me. I had to go to him and extend my hand to introduce myself. We had not met as this is my daughter & son-in-law's home. I came up from Virginia for this as I was the payor of the services, which he also knew. Derek started cutting the trees as we (my son in law & I were home) expected, including limbs of good size. Then things changed and we saw a number of pieces going into the chipper (easy for them as all they had to do with that was shoot them into the woods). I went out a total of 4 times to ask him to NOT chip those bigger limbs as they were such great pieces of firewood and even asked if they could just cut to pile or leave in on the ground by the tree. His answer repeatedly?: "IF IT FITS IN THE CHIPPER IT GOES IN THE CHIPPER!" Let me reiterate I was paying him $13,000!! I cannot begin to tell you how infuriating he was and what a great disappointment due the amount of firewood we lost due to his lack of giving a damn what the customer wanted. I also addressed my concerns with Glenn (the owner) within the one-year guarantee period (I have email records of this), and I discussed my concerns directly with him when they were here to mulch. At this point, I will take this as a loss, and you will lose a customer. Edited to say, you should see the emails that I received because he was unhappy that I left a negative review! The owner is unhinged! Regarding those emails..... Friday night I emailed Mr. Caron: "Hi Glenn, Just an FYI. - 4 azaleas & 2 rhododendrons completely dead. Only plants we are having issues with." He responded that he believes a dog is urinating on the plants. As I subsequently told him, my dogs are on an electric fence and UNABLE to go in the gardens. The plants are also in different parts of the garden. What is most concerning is how the owner has handled a customer disagreeing with him. Rather than keeping this about the plants and his guarantee, he began personally attacking my character because I challenged his explanation and left an honest review. These are emails I've received from him: "You feel better now with your lies of omission on the ratings sites? Im not worried we have many other counter reviews and i reply to all none 5 star reviews. Let the people decide! You will eventually pay for your lawlessness and defamation. I had a hunch you were like this" And: "Good bye Enough, Live with your consequences, I am ! I stick with what I have stated and NO it was not all your dogs it was YOU too with your neglect !I also could see very well how you are not all there from when I showed up to see that you destroyed most of the plants that were in your yard without consulting any experts to try and save replace or transplant any of them. You had very expensive plants there and you had no idea what to do with them . Your improper process and plans regarding your own landscape is very evident yet you seem to be the expert...ENOUGH , i have no further need to communicate with a character like yours. ! I DID try and make things right evidenced by what we DID do ! You just dont care about that but only how you feel and what you think happened which is far from the truth . AND AGAIN I SAW your dog do it and i have a witness besides! So deny it all you want as all you have are your own illusions and your unrighteous character ! As for "neglect": again, most of our plants came from Scenic Nursery and are thriving. We also transplanted lilies & hostas that were here when we bought the house, and they're thriving. Our soaker hose runs 2 hours a day, plus we physically water. No neglect here! I stand by my honest review of my experience. The owner's own emails speak for themselves. I would also encourage anyone considering Scenic Nursery to read the other reviews from dissatisfied customers -- and, just as importantly, read Glenn's responses to those reviews. How a business owner responds when a customer is unhappy says a lot. After receiving the emails above and seeing how other negative reviews have been handled, I think customers can draw their own conclusions about the professionalism and integrity being demonstrated here.
