He referred me out to "Southern California Endodontic Group" in Westlake, CA. I booked an appointment and went there to get my root canal treatment. I was little nervous and didn't know what to expect, but from the moment I walked in, the staff was super friendly and welcoming. The office was modern and equipped with the latest technology. They have a 3D-CT Scan which they took onsite that made me feel more at ease. The office has a team of four endodontist who can see you. Dr. Sophia Kang was my Endodontist, and she was extremely professional and knowledgeable. She took the time to explain the whole procedure and answered all my questions, ensuring me that I felt comfortable throughout the process. It took about an hour and a half to complete my root canal procedure. My procedure took a little bit longer than the usual root canal since it was a bit more complicated. I had three (3) root canals to treat instead of the usual two (2). Throughout the whole process, I didn't feel a thing.......not a thing!!! After my root canal treatment, Dr. Kang prescribed some antibiotics and ibuprofens, and then I was on my mary way home. I was so happy and relieved that I have chosen Dr. Sophia Kang and her team. He was consistently aware of my comfort level (I have a heart issue that does not allow me to have epinephrine) and he made sure I never experienced discomfort. Further, he stayed vigilant throughout the procedure to find a calcified "4th canal" that I suspect most doctors would not have persevered to locate (and I would have had problems in the future) - but this is the determined professional that Dr. Alfandari embodies. He texted every night after the 3 visits to make sure I was doing well and his staff was beyond exceptional with their customer service, follow up and kindness. They both are excellent oral surgeons; I was treated by Dr. Nicholas Nikchevich. I recently had a very difficult extraction of a cracked old root-canal molar performed by Dr. Nicholas Nikchevich, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about him. I have been afraid of dentists since childhood, so I was understandably nervous about having this tooth removed. Dr. Nikchevich made the entire experience remarkably comfortable. I had nitrous oxide (laughing gas) along with local anesthetic, and I was completely comfortable throughout the procedure. The extraction itself was much more complicated than expected because I apparently have what my mother used to call "roots that go all the way to China!" My roots were extremely deep and broke into small pieces, so Dr. Nikchevich had to work carefully to remove everything. Throughout the entire procedure he repeatedly asked me if I was OK or wanted to take a break. I kept telling him, "No break -- I'm fine!" Dr. Nikchevich warned me that my face might swell, that I might have bruising, and that my jaw might ache afterward. None of that happened! He prescribed a pain reliever, but I only needed three pills during the first two days and didn't need it after that. I will be getting an implant from him in three months. What impressed me just as much as his surgical skill was his thoughtfulness. He called me several times at home afterward just to make sure I was doing OK. That kind of personal follow-up is extraordinary. I have been seeing dentists for 78 years, and I can honestly say that Dr. Nikchevich is one of the very best I have ever encountered -- both professionally and personally. A+ and a gold star! I would give him ten stars if I could. If you are nervous about oral surgery, I especially recommend him. He is extraordinarily skilled, compassionate, reassuring, kind, and genuinely cares about his patients.
