Our previous piano teacher taught my child for a year, but the location was too far away, so after discussing with my child, we decided to choose a new teacher. My child has been learning from this teacher for three months (we pay tuition every three months). During the lessons, the teacher didn't offer much encouragement. After each class, the teacher would only point out what was wrong.
Initially, our lessons were 45 minutes each, but they were extended to double sessions (45+45 minutes) because the teacher said my child lacked music theory knowledge. I voluntarily agreed to the extended lessons: half the time for playing the piano and the other half for music theory.
One time, when I went to pick up my child, the teacher mentioned that my child was bad at music theory and even said they didn't know how to teach her. I just smiled politely. On another occasion, the teacher ended the lesson early and sent my child out before the class was over. My car had just arrived at the teacher's house, and there were still 15 minutes left until the end of the class! I wanted to ask, how could you let my child out before the lesson was over? Later, I messaged the teacher, and they said they had gotten the time wrong.
This time, with the Christmas holidays approaching, our last lesson was on December 8. I told the teacher that since the holidays were coming up, we would resume classes in January. The teacher agreed without saying much. However, a few days ago, the teacher suddenly sent me a long message criticizing us for taking time off. I didn't say much in response. Later, I asked my child how they felt about this teacher's teaching. My child said it was just average and not as good as the previous teacher.
Today, I directly informed the teacher that we would stop taking lessons. The teacher responded by saying we couldn't endure any hardship. Honestly, I am very grateful to the teacher for dismissing my child and making me even more certain about not continuing lessons with them!
This is the first time I've encountered such a teacher. Their behavior is truly unpleasant! Everyone, beware! I've kept all the chat records as proof! read more
