We camp but we have had friends stay in the cabins. We stayed in the wooded sites kindling is our favorite, big sites easy to pull thru and lots of space for the dog to hang out too. Fire pit is always cleaned up and looking nice. Water and sewer hook up area is clean and looks nice too! We have stayed in the sites facing the lake too and those are nice as well. I have heard the lake is beautiful but we have not been out on the lake yet! We always look forward to our next stay!

We got here yesterday and no matter what we ask for nobody knows anything or they don't have it because they're working on improvements. This is a campsite and there's no fire ring and no picnic table. There is a community building that is locked and when I asked about it today, they didn't even know it was locked. They unlocked it, but apparently it's only available during office hours which is extremely limited and not when people would want to go in there and relax. Not that that matters either because there are no pool balls for the pool table, they didn't know that either. Today, I had the maintenance man get in my face, screaming and swearing at me because our dogs went near his dog. In all fairness, this morning, our camper door was not latched and the dogs did push out and we didn't realize it. There were no altercations between the dogs. For an employee that works there to be swearing and screaming in a threatening manner, saying he will go to management and get us kicked out. This is not a good representation of their employees. When I said this to the management, it was obvious that they couldn't care less. Not once did the management apologize for anything much less their staff behaving so unprofessionally. I will not come here again. Spend your money elsewhere.

No activities for kids, offered barrel rides only on the week-end. Offered snow cones x2 daily but you had to pay for them. Rates go up every year but no improvements to the cabins/grounds. For the past 4 years I told them the half bath door didn't lock. Still wasn't fixed this year! One of the bedrooms had wet carpet the entire week due to the air conditioning set up where water drained into a bucket that overflowed due to no one emptying it! Large Dogs swimming in beach swimming area when guests were swimming - this was more than 1 dog & happened several times. About 2 days into our week stay we woke up to Goose poop all over the Lily pad (if I could attach the photo I took I would) & remained like that the rest of the week. (The lily pad was faded & had a big rip/hole in it - it has been that way for 4 summers!) Office hours were 10 am to 5 pm Starting next year in 2026 said they were going "green" as a result: -cabins are expected to haul their own garbage up to trash bin behind the office. That was the last straw! Added a booking fee $20 & $40 admin fee in 2026 This year 2025 stopped exchanging towels mid-week, said if you want clean towels you have to pay extra, again due to going "green." Weeds in some of the areas of the swimming area. Didn't clean up beach daily to get rid of weeds that had washed up. Trampoline in swimming area was horrible you couldn't even bounce on it. Something was very wrong with it. Can't bring your own firewood - charge $15 for a bundle of wood that must have been wet or unseasoned it smoked so badly. if I could give it a zero I would! There were a few areas that needed a little grooming but nothing to cause you to lose the trail. There was a detour because goats were fenced along the trail nearest the swimming area causing that part to be closed. We just cut that part out and followed the road back to our car. So glad we did because we found two fawns on the edge of the road and photographed them peaking at us from behind the trees. Lots of wild flowers along the trail. It seemed to be a popular camping spot and many were swimming in the lake on a warm afternoon. We actually missed the Mt Tom lookout as you have to leave the trail and cross a parking lot to get to the lookout path. We decided to drive up there and I'm so glad we did. They have some nice placards and a lookout structure so you can really see above the tree line.

The lake is green as it has a high toxicity from local farming fertilizer thus killed off most fish just ask the cabin owners. We would not go in the green mucky water and had no walleye bass or crappys not even a decent size sunfish. We went across-the-street to Ottertail lake where the water is clear and has BIG fish! So we will be staying at one of Ottertail lake rv parks. Not sure why but the rvs are on top of each-other on a non sand lake shore and the lake is small. If we go within 150' of any of the docks we can get fined heavily and I saw locals on their properties filming boats. Hey I dont blame them. I wouldnt waist your $ or time on this RV park yes its one of those ..... many more just down the toad and on bigger fish filled lakes. We were not happy!

We were there for the Jenkins, VFW's 40th anniversary celebration. (Best meat raffle in the state) We'd most definitely go again! The reason I gave it only 4 stars is because the landscaping wasn't finished at that time, it was that new. But judging by the rest of the place, I'm sure it will be lovely, when completed. Our goal here is not to bash management of Birch Bay RV Park, but to rather provide you our…read moreexperience, so you can make an informed decision about where you want to spend your precious summer weekends you work so hard all week to enjoy. If you are looking for a fun seasonal campground, I would strongly urge against staying here. The management has control issues, are very rude most of the time, and they will charge you extra for everything possible. We were on our 2nd season staying here as Full Time RVers. We have traveled to numerous campgrounds for weeks to months at a time, and have never been treated so poorly as we were at Birch Bay. Knowing that we lived there (and it was our home location), they kicked us out mid-season, giving us a week to leave without discussion. This, for doing absolutely NOTHING against the rules. We were up singing around a campfire with many friends (from the campground) on a Saturday night, up until quiet time, which was 11 PM at this time (as read in our contract. I see now that they have changed that to 10:30pm). At 10:59 PM the music was shut off. At 11:02, management called our cell phone and said, "Party is over...meet me in the office at 9AM", where they proceeded to say we needed to leave and had a week to do so. The last comment made from management was to "make sure your friends knew you are taking the fall!" Who does this?! A couple hours later, management did come back and offer us a different site back in the woods, but again, made a comment about making sure our friends stay away! So, not only did they kick us out without talking about noise levels acceptable during normal hours, they then wanted to control who and how many friends we hung out with! We left the next day! I wouldn't recommend this campground to my worst enemy. If you like to be controlled and treated poorly, this may be the campground for you. I know they will come back with a rebuttal as they always do too turn the blame against the camper, but how many times can they do this too campers before people see right through them.
