The inventory is huge, and the staff well informed. I love the fact that a groomer is available and very competent. I understand they are boarding rescued pets. I know there is a great need for that as other area rescues are very over crowded and understaffed. I believe the store is a fascinating place to visit as there is so much to see and enjoy and purchase. I must subtract a star due to the need for repair to the parking lot, but I am sure they hope to find a solution to that as soon as possible read more

I just recently moved to the area from out of state and I could not be happier about finding Rutherford Pet Supply! They were above and beyond helpful and more than willing to help in anyway they could. I would absolutely recommend this place for everyone. We just got a puppy and went here to get a few things. I've been more than impressed with this place. They know their stuff. They are incredibly friendly and personable. I even emailed them one evening about their return policy and got a response that evening after their regular business hours. I've also really appreciated that every employee I've spoken to seems to really know about animals and have passion for them....not only that but the very first day we went in, they took the time to allow my children to hang out and hold some of the animals while I was getting what I needed. It was really such a cool experience overall. It feels like this place is more like a community than a retail pet store and I'm glad to have found them and I'm glad to now be a part of their community. We will definitely be regular customers! They are in the process of transitioning to another location so it's kinda strange going in if it's your first time, but they make you feel really comfortable the moment you drive in. Thank you guys! I came to this store seeking reptile supplies, I left satisfied. There is more reptile supplies and live reptiles than most pet stores I visit. On top of the selection of live reptiles, they all appeared to be in decent health. The staff were all very kind, they made sure to check up on me and offer help. The prices were all very reasonable and I will definitely return soon. read more

I've gone here a good amount of times, mainly for fish or dog supplies. Every time I went the staff were very friendly, and welcoming. But sometimes they were trying a little too hard to be friendly. To the point where you can't look at anything, without being asked a bunch of questions on what you're looking for. One of the guys always came off as sarcastic and rude, and even seemed a bit annoyed when you said you didn't need any help. The store needs improvements to make it look better, the parking lot is horrible. This isn't really their fault, but I've always noticed their customers to be sketchy and weird. Had a lady ask me how much I was selling my dog for, and after telling her we weren't selling she continued to pry. The fish in the store are overpriced, and never seem to be in great health. The tanks are usually dirty, and not maintained well. read more

They alert me to health issues that I may not notice and always have good advice. My dogs always leave this place looking great and it puts me at rest taking my dogs here as I know that they are in "good hands" and this lady is very experienced. I cannot say enough good things about this store. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable & always willing to help. There is a large inventory for many types of pets and the owners can answer many questions for your particular pet. Everyone goes out of their way to help and provide quality products and service. Additionally, the owners are also very big into animal rescue and do alot of charitable work for local rescues & the local animal shelter. This shows their compassion and dedication to our beloved companions. This is a huge plus for me as it proves that this is more than just a "pet store"...it is sorta like a "pet community" and you cannot get better than that!!! The staff in Rutherford Pet Supply is always charming and friendly! I love how helpful they are as I'm browsing- they're always there when I have a question. I love how hard they try to be attentive and to answer to your needs! There's one employee in particular who is witty and entertaining. His humor makes my experience all the better. I've also continually had pleasant interactions with other customers in the store. Everyone is very kind and nice to talk to. It's great to connect with other pet owners and enthusiasts. Best pet supply in Western NC! Knowledgable staff are very helpful. They will walk you through the pros and cons of your pet food and supply needs. Fish room is amazing! Cool reptiles to check out. Gorgeous birds and small mammals... Our family enjoys walking the store to see the animals when we stop in for cat food and crickets. RPS also has allowed two local rescues to set up shop so you can see available puppies, dogs, kittens and cats available for adoption. Prices beat the online shops and the helpful staff will carry your purchases to the car. read more

They know our pets by name and ask about them when we curbside pickup their food. When your business motto is "Caring for all members of your family." You know you are at the right place. The staff is very knowledgeable as well as diligent. If I ever have questions about my pet's nutrition, or any other small animal supplies, I can count on them to help me. Chris and david and all there employees are always helpful. I buy alot of stuff for my fish here from meds to food to filters as well as fish. If I have had an issue with any of it , they have done there best to make sure i leave happy. One of my tanks filters was not working properly chris fixed the problem, I will always choose RPS over big stores like petco and petsmart. read more
