Nope! I brought my guitar here on a Friday for an adjustment. End of Tuesday - no call. End of Wednesday - no call. Finally, Thursday morning, I call them to ask about my guitar, and they said it was ready. If it was ready, why no call? Anyway, I go to the store to get my guitar. I see that they did not adjust the guitar like I requested. The store clerk put Mike on the phone. He tells me first that the guitar technician found that there was more work to be done, and that I should leave my guitar and that they had to ship it off to fix it and so on...So why did you tell me that the guitar was ready? Then he tried to tell me that I still had to pay for services because they did a set up and changed the strings. I told him, in other words, you did everything except what I asked you to do. He then tried to go on saying, "I'm 67 years old. I've fixed guitars for bands all over New Jersey..." And yet you couldn't (or wouldn't) fix mine. In the end, I did not pay for services that I did not receive, and I took my guitar elsewhere that fixed my guitar in one day...WITHOUT changing the strings. Why are people so desperate to try to swindle other people out of their money??? *Oh, and before Mike or anyone else tries to debunk this review, I HAVE THE VIDEOS TO PROVE IT!*

Kim was extremely accommodating and responsive and then all the staff really went above and beyond to make sure the set up/clean up was taken care of. Special shout out to miss Tiara and Miss Amanda for really making the day so special and easy!!! It's only been a few months and my daughter already cant wait for her next birthday highly recommend them!!

She takes the Pre-K 4 class which consists of ballet and tap....to be exact....ballet starts promptly at 1115am and 1150am they do tap and ends at 12pm. I kinda wish it was a bit longer and use a full hour but I guess being a 4 yr old maybe 45 min is enough. My daughter has fun with it so that's all that matters. The parking is off street....so bring 50 cents for the meters. I don't have much of a problem looking for parking.....so no complaints there. What's nice is if we miss a class then we can make it up on Fridays....we call and ask to make sure first if they can accommodate her. It's at 545p-630p so perfect after work for me. Will who works at the front desk is very friendly. The tuition can be placed on your credit card and can be automated every month. Kim the owner is very nice and answers all questions. They also offer parents night out from 5p-9p on weekends...this happens once in awhile....looks like it's monthly so far..it's $25 per child. Also, we can't watch the kids the entire time HOWEVER.....there's a curtain and it's hard to see BUT they do have a TV and alternate the rooms on saturdays....so every other sat I can watch my daughter in her class.....They really need to get another TV or maybe split the screens to watch both classes.

YIKES! Mr. Chip Dee replied to my review using even MORE stigmatizing and offensive language…read more Clearly uninformed and has made no good faith effort to educate himself on the population he claims a speciality in working with. ----------------------------------------------------- This review details my firsthand customer experience while attempting to schedule lessons with the Chip Dee Academy of Music. I was interested in and looking into music schools and music education facilities to get a grasp of what is available for the population that is near and dear to my heart and found this school as advertising their work with a "special needs" population. Unfortunately while Chip Dee Academy of music prides itself on serving a "special needs population" their website is rather offensive. It refers to older adults and NORCS as "geriatric centers" This term is beyond offensive and illustrates that Chip Dee Music is merely perfomative in their declaration of working with individuals with different abilities. Geriatric as a term is not being used appropriately here, neither do I believe they work with geriatricians, but if they have been performing for older adults, they've been simaltaneously refering to group they are supposed to be educating with offensive, outdated language. They have the audacity to advertise themselves on their website as "having worked with all disabilities on the spectrum." And yet exhibit strong ageism in their website. Chip Dee Academy of Music, please educate yourself and do better if you intend to work with older adults, you should be educating yourself on this population. At the very basic level, that starts with knowing what language they use to refer to themselves, and not using offensive or dehumanizing language. I wrote to Mr. Chip Dee via email and received no response, so i wrote this Yelp review, the owners response to it was further demonstrative of his stigma towards older adults. DESTIGMATIZE AGING!

I can't say enough good things about my experience at The Music Shop, and especially about my…read moreinstructor, Dave Wheeler. I'm a 72-year-old saxophonist who picked up the saxophone for the very first time after retiring from a 40-year career in biochemistry spanning academia and research. So yes, I came in knowing enzymes better than eighth notes. Dave has been an absolute gift. He brings a deep well of music theory knowledge, practical musicianship, and real-world experience to every lesson. More importantly, he has remarkable patience and creativity. He listens carefully, identifies where I'm struggling, and then designs clear, effective strategies that make practice both productive and enjoyable between lessons. What I especially value is that Dave doesn't teach from a script. He adapts to the student in front of him--age, background, learning style, and goals included. Thanks to his guidance, I've made steady progress, gained confidence, and genuinely look forward to practicing and improving. If you're considering lessons at The Music Shop -- whether you're 08 or 78 -- I can't recommend Dave Wheeler highly enough. He's the real deal. -- Michael Van Allen, student https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelavanallen/

I'm sharing my experience to help others make an informed decision…read more I brought in a ~1-year-old student flute (purchased on the West Coast) for what I now know were minor adjustments. At the time, I followed the technician's recommendation for a full COA. When the instrument was returned, it played essentially the same as when I dropped it off. I brought it back a second time. It came back slightly improved, but still not properly adjusted. A few weeks later, I visited an independent flute technician in Brooklyn. He immediately identified the issues, charged nearly half the cost, spent over an hour on the instrument, and fixed it correctly. It has remained in excellent playing condition since. Based on this experience, I would not return here for service or purchase. I would strongly encourage others especially parents of student players to seek a second opinions and verify the quality of work.
