The sandwich if you could even call it that was 10$! The Italian that is supposed to have extra pickles hardly had any pickles at all. The sub roll is hard as a rock on one side and completely dried out. There is also no oil on it like a sub should have. It has extra onions on it instead of pickles. Worst Italian ever. Not with 12$. I will not be ordering from there ever again. I called and they didn't even offer to refund my money. Only offered to remake it for next time I go in. There will not be a next time.

I am one of those who rarely have cash on me. The coffee they make is outstanding! Unfortunately in the morning when I count any cash I have laying around, and am usually a few cents short. So I go to Cumberland Farms, just down the street. They take debit without drama, even if all their coffee, no matter what flavor they label it as, always tastes the same. Try using a debit card at Oak Hill Cash Market, the owner acts like you are a complete asshole. Plus they are out of cream 80% of the time I go there. I have to ask, then stand around and wait for them to "get to it". But regardless, the way they make their coffee is incredible and is even better (and much cheaper) than Dunkin Donuts. The breakfast sandwiches are another highlight...always plenty just freshly cooked, so there is no waiting. The pizza they make could not taste much worse, however....a limp, soggy crust and just not good by any stretch of the imagination. It's almost like you have to try to make a Pizza this bad. Because it is a convenience store, the groceries appear to be from a museum and way too expensive to consider, even in a pinch. That being said, I do not go out of my way to do business here, but would get my daily cup of coffee here every single day if using a debit card did not cause the owner to act like you are putting him out of business by doing so. But they do some things extremely well, and I can't go less than 4 stars, as it is locally owned and operated and it's nice to see these places succeed. They do have my 4 star rating, and I recommend this place on the strength of their Coffee and Breakfast sandwiches. You won't get that quality at a chain store.

The biggest knock I would give this particular rest area/service plaza compared to the others in Southern Maine would be the fact you have to leave the highway system. It tacks on extra time that adds an extra level of annoyance. The place in general was clean including the bathrooms but could use an updating in my opinion. While the sinks are touch-less both the soap and paper towel dispensers were not. That seems like a pretty common standard but not here. My review is purely on appearance and taste of the food taking into account travel time after being made. I personally had the BogHooter which is their signature sandwich. It comes on a traditional Italian-style toasted sub roll. It has 1/3 ham, 1/3 turkey, 1/3 salami, 2 layers of cheese (I asked for no cheese), bacon lettuce and mayo. I must not have read the description well because it also states it comes In thirds. What they mean is each meat is stacked individually making up 1/3 of the sandwich, instead of spreading them across the entire roll so you can enjoy the taste of each meat with each bite. Instead you get 3 small individual sandwiches in one. It is your traditional style deli meat, nothing spectacular and nothing to thrive about. The sandwich was good, but the bread was a bit on the chewy side. It took a bit more effort to chew than a typical soft sub roll. One item to note, the picture I took of the sub is after I opened it to take a picture. I also indulged in their beer battered onion rings ($4) and French fries ($3). Their appetizers only come in one size and you can see the size in my pictures. French fries had no salt and tasted like frozen French fries cooked in a fryer. There was only 4.5 onion rings which is a bit disappointing at $1 per onion ring. They were very tasty, but you barely get any to truly enjoy the effort that goes into making them. My grandfather had the pizza, which he said he enjoyed, but it was clearly overcooked reaching nearly burnt status. I am always baffled how an establishment can allow pizzas that are on the verge of burnt to leave their counter. Either they don't quality check their food or they just don't care because it's takeout. For my first experience, I was a bit underwhelmed. The onion rings certainly have potential with a lighter cook and some salt. The sandwich while unique resembles an Italian with different meats, but all separated. I would prefer to taste the layer of each meat combined with the veggies to get a flavor bomb rather than have to eat 1/3 the sandwich to get to the next meat. I am happy to give them a second chance, but I also like to be impressed during my first experience to get a sense of what to expect on future orders. My hope is their quality and passion is shown in the next order, otherwise I will find a different establishment to fulfill my guilt pleasures during the evening.
