Better access to electrical plugs would be nice to accommodate charging of phones etc. especially by the bed. The restaurant, well where to start. Decor is dated but at least it's clean. The service while friendly enough was incredibly slow. The food is ok, homemade bread for the toast which is nice. Too 15 minutes before someone even came to take an order, still waiting for coffee. Other tables have gotten theirs but being a single traveller at a table apparently puts you on the bottom of the pecking order while the server takes care of the locals. Hideaway lounge now. Not open on Sunday's and seems to be the place to go to play the VLTs. Only one server who was also serving the dining room. Good happy hour prices though. Had a burger two nights in a row. The best part of the stay, the burger really was very good. Overall, for a small town with limited options the Albatross is a safe choice. Clean and prices aren't too bad. Improvements at the service level would be very welcome. Just because you are cheerful and friendly doesn't mean I need to wait 30 min before my coffee even shows up. Better service would have gotten a three star review.

While…read moremost places merely advertise homestyle cooking as a selling feature, Trail Side Motel & Restaurant does just that. With only 20 minutes left to spare before it closed, we rushed in hoping they were still serving. Turns out they were, and not only that, they did it with a smile reassuring us it wasn't an issue. We ordered the turkey soup and pan fried cod with chips and the fixings. The soup was absolutely delicious with bite sized pieces of carrots, chunks of turkey and seasoned just right without being too salty or bland. The fresh pieces of cod were cooked beautifully, retaining all of its juices and also seasoned perfectly. Besides the great food, we were so happy with the friendly service. It made our meal even better and definitely some place we would return to on another day or night. Homestyle cooking and hospitality at its greatest. Definitely recommend!

The rooms are basic but clean, quiet, and private. There's a private entrance for the rooms. The proprietors Tonya and Dwayne also run a catering business so breakfast is excellent! I had a lovely yogurt parfait with fresh local partridge berries and apple cinnamon french toast. I'm pretty sure you can't get this nice a breakfast anywhere else in Gander. The B&B has free WiFi. Tonya was very helpful in organizing me a ride to the airport for an early flight. Overall, the best place to stay in Gander.
