Squire Affinity Telecaster - Arctic White
    Jamie S.

Made an appointment here because I was shopping around for my first electric. I was struck between the affinity telecaster and Stratocaster. Erik and Matt helped me and gave me the time I needed to make the choice. I chose the tele, and after getting some adjustments done at Russo's I couldn't be happier with it. They were also very generous with including strings and a few freebies under purchasing the guitar. I definitely recommend Russo's and you won't be disappointed. You can tell everyone there cares about music and it's refreshing. I'll definitely be going to them in the future.

They have been in business since 1960! They had the best price on a used guitar I was looking for. I hate buying a guitar online and when you get it, its unplayable. I felt confident when they told me that every guitar they get is inspected and set up before its up for sale. I heard the techs running through the tech scale in the background while on the phone. I bought it on a Saturday; they boxed it up on a Saturday and I had the guitar in my possession in Oklahoma City on Wednesday from Hamilton, NJ. It was packed really well and the guitar was spotless because of Covid-19. after I tuned it up a little and played it, the setup was perfect as well as the intonation. They had obviously done some work on the guitar because fretwork like this is uncommon. Lastly, I got free shipping. 1) Best price 2) No work from a Luthier was needed. 3) I was able to play it the moment it was unboxed 4) They actually exceeded my expectations.

I dropped off two vintage stereo receivers for repair. Rocco, or Doc Rock as he goes by, received…read moreboth units and assured me of his credentials and experience. I asked if he wanted any $$ or credit card or if he wanted to draw up any paperwork and he declined. After a week, I called Rocco to see how it was going and he became belligerent citing that the stereo unit I brought him had been tampered with and was not repairable. I accepted this news and waited to hear back from Rocco in regards to the second stereo unit. Long story short, five weeks later, and many phone calls, Rocco told me that it was also NOT repairable. His explanation of what was wrong was confusing and unintelligible. Price for evaluation was $50. During the five weeks in AZ Music's care, both of my units were scratched and damaged. Chucks of wood and scratches on the aluminum face plates in addition to both tuning knobs having been bent severely. Screws were removed from both units and not replaced. Brackets removed and not put back. This whole situation has rendered two expensive vintage receivers into scrap. When I texted Rocco with my complaint in regards to the damage, his response was as follows: "Sorry about those scratches, Thought units were just junk. But in hindsight, you showed me what I already thought of you, as for me, I am an honest person and would never lower myself to your standards. PS. I don't have to." I'm not sure where he is coming from with that line of logic. I'm the one who paid $50 for nothing and had both of my units damaged by Rocco of AZ Music, Morrisville, PA. Avoid using AZ Music for electronic repairs at all costs. You have been warned.

I write to extol and celebrate the virtues and amazing craftsmanship of Michael Virok, the owner of…read more@theGuitarRescue.com and a Luthier extraordinaire. This review has been a long time in coming, due to several serious family medical issues combined with a move to another state, and it is a review that I am grateful to finally write. Michael graciously and kindly helped me to complete the final (and most important) phases of mods on my 2006 Gibson SG Standard. My overall goal was to switch the colour-scheme of the hardware to Black, and so that it also had the "Doom" affinities of my previous guitar, an ′86 Jackson Custom made in the San Dimas workshop. The first phase of mods began with the installation of new tuning pegs and control knobs. I was able to get some Grover 102BC Original Rotomatic Black Chrome tuning pegs to replace the original faux-ivory white ones, the latter of which have really thin attachment posts (which I have seen break due to desiccation a few times). I always loved the control knobs on my Jackson, so I got a set of four Proline Back Chrome Textured Dome ones, which feel like home to me. The next phase of mods involved replacing the Gibson pickups with something more suited to my style of playing. I decided to go with the EMG Zakk Wylde 81/85 Humbucker Set in Black. Both of these are active pickups, like the one in my Jackson. I went to one of the big-box stores for the installation and when I picked it up, the tech (i.e. not a luthier) said that since the electronics cavity of an SG is notoriously small, he was unable to fit the battery inside of the cavity, and it was returned to me like this. He suggested that I find a luthier who could rout out a battery-box to ameliorate this situation, because the store didn't even have the proper tools for the work. I was, like...WTF. So, I found a real Luthier in Michael Virok. He was able to discard the splitter connecting the new pickups and wired them directly together so that a battery could actually fit in the cavity - without having to rout out a battery-box to the side of the cavity. While this setup may use batteries more quickly, there was no need to do any invasive procedure to install something by doing it this way (which I thought was a great idea!). He did this while I waited. Gratis. The final piece of the puzzle was the installation of a proper tremolo system, and I asked Michael if he could put a Kahler whammy-bar on it, because I absolutely adored the Kahler on my Jackson. Michael acted as a de facto consultant on this, and he graciously helped me to determine which Kahler model would be the best-suited for my SG. Bear in mind, that literally no other luthier in a 100-mile radius said that they could do this...not even in Philly. He installed the Kahler 2200 and it works perfectly! Taken together, I offer my highest recommendation, without any reservation, for Michael Virok at The Guitar Rescue as the regional go-to Luthier extraordinaire. If you live anywhere within an hour-or-two of Lawrenceville, NJ and have the need to do something, anything with/to your guitar, PLEASE let him work on your axe! I drove all the way from King of Prussia (PA) based on his reputation alone, and was so impressed with him. He is kind, affable, and a consummate professional whose only concern is customer satisfaction. Thank you so very much, Michael, for literally everything, and humble apologies for the exceedingly long delay in submitting this review. Namaste...

Once a week I would drive him to his lesson and pick him up an hour later. The rest of the week I would be constantly asking/reminding him to practice. That cycle repeated for about 2 years. I asked him several times "are you sure you want to being doing this" to which I would hear "I guess". Then I had heard about Malcom and his "different" approach to teaching guitar. So we gave it a shot...... Fast forward several years and my son doesn't put his guitar down. Malcolm quickly made learning guitar fun. Gone were the days of my son anguishing over countless scales and songs he had zero interest in. Instead Malcolm taught my son what HE wanted to play. Now my son is COLLEGE going after a degree in music technology and we owe a lot of that to Malcom. His unique ability to relate to his students and teach them in a way that works for their individual needs is outstanding. Add to that the convenience of Malcom coming to YOUR house on your time... It's the best. If your looking for someone to help your child achieve their best.... Malcom and Giants of Music is the BEST
