Marry was a rock star! After getting screwed by another agent, we moved over to this firm and we worked with Mary. We have been looking for two years for a place on the river. After we lost a deal with another company, Marry showed us some places on the river and insisted I look at a place in Villa Grande. After much hesitation, we went and looked at the Villa Grande house and ended up buying it. It was not on the river but a short walk to a semi private/community beach I highly recommend Mary as an agent. She has the in's and out's of the communities. read more

I have to say I had a very difficult time with Kathryn who made my experience with this company truly the worst I have ever experienced in my time renting.  She has became rude, complacent, and refused to acknowledge tenant issues over time.  I tried to tell her many times about the issues with the sewer for which she passed off and ignored. Most recently, since I announced my departure to Kathryn, she has refused to even investigate a terrible smell that was coming out of all drains and building up every few weeks. I repeatedly poured draino down all drains as per the maintenance person's suggestion, but the smell just kept coming back.  Kathryn said it is "an indigenous rock."  I had to live elsewhere in the last few weeks since it had become unbearable although I still paid rent for the month.  There have also been drainage and clogging issues throughout my stay that Kathryn has just blamed as "tenant caused" while I have always taken care of the place as best as I can, always using proper drain catchers and keeping clean, and have never had issues like this before in any of my previous rentals in 15 years. She has made up stories that I have "vandalized the neighborhood" and that she has had complaints about me after I brought up the issues with person in Cabin B banging on my walls and filling the cabin with exhaust smoke early in the morning before I woke up if any of the windows were left open. This was a serious issue to me that Kathryn denied was happening and refused to do anything and told me to put up cameras.  I did so, and she directed me to take them down as it was an invasion of privacy and everything I said was happening was "made up." I have spoken with each of the neighbor's on the culdasac (other than the one who was harassing me banging on my walls and waking me with toxic gas early in the morning) , and no one has had issues with me or reported me as Kathryn indicated. This was the worst gaslighting abusive property manager I have ever experienced, and when I brought it up to the owner Susan, I received no reply in email, and when I went into office, I was told I would need to take it up with Kathryn, as if she had no say in the matter. They then stole part of my security deposit saying I removed the railing in the shower, when there was no railing to begin with, I am yet to see the rest of my deposit 3 months later. I'm only giving 1 star because I have to give stars. My husband and I found a house listed on Craigslist that we really liked. It said if we had questions to contact Kathryn, when I called this lady was very rude and unprofessional. I asked her if I could see the property and she said I would need to come get the key and view myself. I thought that was different but didn't mind going to the office. When I got there, Kathryn was not there and someone else helped ( the owner) I viewed the property and found that it was not up to code. The listing said 2 bedrooms when the second bedroom was actually a walk in closet that barely would fit a bed. Also the stove had no vent system which was little scary because I have two children and worry about fire. When I returned the key to the office Kathryn was still not in the office and the man that took the key back acted like he couldn't answer my questions because as he said " he's never seen the property" I called the next morning and spoke with Kathryn and I told her that I was able to view the property and had some questions, the first thing Kathryn said was " how did you view the property?" Then when I addressed my concerns instead of "selling me the place" she said they already have four applications in on the property. DO NOT DO BUSINESS!!! With this company.. Very rude read more

This is my fourth property purchase from Sue Mobley . As we all know there is an endless supply of realtors wanting to make a sale. Sue is not like all those other realtors , she is one of the warmest , honest , most caring , people I've ever met. Those qualities coupled with decades of experience in the area and a strong network of contractors and inspectors has made her my " go to " for investment property in the Russian River . I feel fortunate to have such a negative experience early-on because I would hate to enter a year-long lease contract having anything to do with this establishment. I wished to view one of their rental properties and called to arrange an appointment. I was told I could simply leave a $20 deposit and a copy of my driver's license and I'd be given a key so I could view the property. Um, okay? I'm about 20 minutes from Guerneville so I tried to arrange a time I could pickup the key and was told that this property was being viewed every 20 minutes and it was first come, first served. In other words I would need to drive the 20 minutes and hopefully the key would be there. If not, then I guess I would wait for however long it took for the previous people to return. This is absurd. First of all, the property should be available to be shown by an agent. Secondly, I don't think I want to live somewhere that the keys have been passed between possibly hundreds of unsupervised strangers. At the very least they could have offered appointment times so I could make arrangements to collect a key and look at the place on my own. I was very interested in seeing the place but didn't want to deal with this hap-hazard management style. Hopefully the property owners aren't paying this establishment very much because the customer service is severely lacking. I will never again pursue any rental listings by this company. read more

I found a property online that I was very interested in. I called the office and spoke with Scott. He answered all of my questions in a very detailed manner. He really knew his stuff. He was patient and accomodating. We made an appointment to see the place a few days later. There, he was able to answer every question I had and then some. He is very knowledgable about real estate. Makes sense since later I found out he comes from a family of real estate agents. He showed me some comp properties, which really helped me to make my comparisons. I decided to make an offer. From there I dealt with the company's broker, Sue Mobley. Rock Star!!!! If you have ever bought property before, you know that sometimes the turn around on the simplest matters can take a few days. Sue always got back to me immediately and never made me feel like she had more important things to do. The negotiation process was painless. The paperwork was painless. The close of the whole deal was quick and painless. At the end of it all I was thinking, "Did I really just buy a house?". Because usually one goes through so much head ache and red tape and the whole 'hurry up and wait' process that by the time they finally get the house they feel like they have been dragged over the coals. I worked with Mary Mount of Russian River Realty on the purchase of my home on the river. Mary took time with me on the phone before meeting me to get a sense of who I am and what I was looking for. I sent her some terrible suggestions I found on the free realty sites; she used her extensive local knowledge to assist me in not making a huge mistake "oh...you don't want to buy that mud puddle..." I fell in love with the first house she showed me because of the big sunny lot with endless orchard and garden possibilities. We saw other houses in similar range but the first one stuck. I spent months in Europe and while there Kathryn M. rented my vacant property, did the walk thru with the exiting tenant and incoming tenants, took care of the paper work, and arranged repairs When I returned all the statements were correct money was deposited to my account and all I had to do was meet with Kathryn and go over the specifics. When issues come up, she will either explain the legal implications or come to some equitable solution. She is professional, knowledgeable in the field and works extremely hard to satisfy all of the customers. I have used Kathryn to find tenants for my own rentals and now am suggested to friends to use Russian River Realty to find suitable vacation rentals. I love Russian River Realty!! In 2013 I met Sue when I called about a home for sale in Cazadero. I had to arrive well after business hours and even later due to an accident on 101. She was waiting and just lovely. From first hand shake to close of escrow she was attentive, helpful and I was treated with concern and respect. I went on to have RRR manage my home as a vacation rental and have been very pleased with Scott and Kathryn as well as the rest of the agents who step in when needed. My partner and I recently looked for a house to rent in western Sonoma County. We have a cat and finding a small, clean house where our sweet old girl would be welcome was more challenging than we ever expected. Our favorite house was a cottage in Monte Rio. This cottage had a newly remodeled kitchen, a sunny but private little yard, and a decent amount of character and charm, sans the grunginess that often accompanies "character." And the rent was $200 less monthly than the next cheapest house we saw in our entire search! Still, we didn't even fill out an application because we found the rental agent and property manager, Kathryn, to be so rude. When we showed up at her office for our scheduled appointment, she didn't seem to know who I was, even though we had spoken earlier that day. She was at least ready to roll quickly. But she was impatient when checking to make sure that we knew how to get to the house and then came across as simply put out by almost every question asked once we reached the house. The only time this woman really perked up during the entire appointment was when she told us about the application fees! She was willing to take money from us, even though she already had two applications to process before ours. I asked if she would call me if those applications fell through. The answer was of course "no." When I pressed a bit further, I was told I could call her to inquire about the other applications on the next business day, as if taking my call was a favor she would do begrudgingly for me. In case you are not familiar with the Sonoma County rental market, I should tell you that this messed up application process is actually common. Many of the available homes have multiple applicants who pay fees just in case the earlier applicants don't pass or change their minds. My partner and I looked at about 30 houses and this was the only place we considered paying the fee. We ultimately took a house where we connected directly with an owner who didn't even check our references because we just liked each other. But, in the car driving away from the adorable Monte Rio house where we could perfectly imagine our furniture and our flow in the kitchen and the design of our veggie garden and the awesome vacation we would take with the money we would save on rent, my partner and I agreed that if only Kathryn wasn't going to be the property manager, we would have followed up. As I write this review, I should be packing because we are in fact moving this week. But I can't quite forget that our new house is my second choice. And that cottage is still on Russian River Realty's website a month after I saw it! You can draw your own conclusions about that. I'm still not quite sure what to make of it. read more

I have to agree with the other negative reviews of this Realty, specifically about Kathryn. My boyfriend and I are moving from the midwest to this area for his job. We began corresponding with Kathryn via email about a specific property, clearly stating we had cats. She said it was no problem and QUOTED US A PET DEPOSIT. As we are still in the midwest, we spoke with her the following week and were able to set up a viewing by some family members who were vacationing further north. She seemed rude on the phone, but we didn't think too much of it. The day of the viewing - our family drove 4 hours to meet her. My family said she was horribly rude to them when they showed up to view the property and then said explicitly that the property did not allow pets. When we followed up with her own email, she didn't apologize or offer any other reason besides "people are allowed to change their mind." The lack of professionalism on this woman's part is stunning. I understand property owners' changing their minds, but she knew the distance people were coming to view the property and didn't bother to make any contact alerting us to this change. We have a limited timeline for the move, and this woman wasted 2 weeks of our time making us think the property was available to us. She has no professional courtesies. She then tried to point us in the direction of another, lesser property, making me realize she is used to pulling a bait and switch on potential renters. I would steer anyone away from working with Kathryn. The woman simply has no manners. read more

I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Kathryn from this agency, and was appalled at her unprofessionalism and rude attitude. Not just rude, but condescending and belittling. When I went to the office to talk with Sue, my complaint was completely dismissed. Sue defended her behavior, stating that Kathryn has a "stressful job". I was not aware that having a stressful job was a valid excuse for unprofessional behavior. I would have felt better if my complaint was being heard and respected, but unfortunately it seems as though Russian River Realty does not value their customers whatsoever. My concern was shrugged off with a response of, "we've had a lot of complaints about Kathryn." I would not recommend Russian River Realty to my worst enemy. Our family has a cabin in monte rio that we rent out each year for 9 out of 12 months. It is not an easy task to rent EVERY year and find good tenants. We used D and G for a few years but after the tenants brought in cockroaches or left a 5 foot pile of garbage or hid drugs in the walls, we became disgusted with this agency and went to Russian River Realty. Kathryn at Russian River Realty has worked miracles for us! She can decipher the applications with her eyes closed and pick a winner every year. When issues come up, she will either explain the legal implications or come to some equitable solution. She is professional and knowledgeable in this field and doesn't beat around the bush. I rented a vacation cottage through Russian River Realty. I've rented in the area for a week every summer for years. This was the worst experience I have ever had. They misrepresented what the space was. The TV never worked the entire time even though they sent people to try to make it work. The place was unfinished. The kitchen had a folding table with dishes stacked on that instead of proper cabinetry. The bedroom area had cabinetry installed but no doors on the cabinets. One of the bathrooms was constructed such that the shower had no left at the edge of it so the entire bathroom floor got flooded when someone took a shower. No ens tables or coffee tables by the seating to watch TV but the TV didn't work anyway. They have been completely unapologetic and unresponsive to my complaints. I have demanded a partial refund since the TV never works and the place was not what was described in the listing. I'm also going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Sue Mobley at Russian River Realty in Guerneville sold me my house in 2005 and was professional and as I tell friends, "held my hand" all the way through the process. She was professional and personable and things went smoothly. In 2008, I worked with her again when I rented out my house for two years. She worked with me to find appropriate tenants and handled the few issues that arose in those years. In 2018, a neighbor wanted to buy my house, as I was leaving the area. Sue again stepped into help, drawing up a legally binding agreement. When I moved, she handled all the sticky issues that came up with the tenant in contract, as the buyer backed out. In 2019, Sue Mobley again stepped up to the plate when I made the decision to put the house on the market. She stepped forward to assist with suggestions to make the house attractive for the market, when I asked for it. We sold the house is less than thirty days, having an open house once, only three days before the flood! The offer came in five days after! Throughout my the years, Sue Mobley has been professional, knowledgeable, personable and effective. She answers questions clearly, succinctly and I am pleased to have had a working relationship with her. I can't recommend her highly enough. read more

We have done business with Russian River Realty for six years now and have always been extremely pleased with their services and grateful that we came across them first when we were new in town. We've interacted primarily with Scott J. and Kathryn M., who were instrumental in helping us get started in using our Monte Rio vacation home as a rental. With their help, it became very successful and we decided to purchase a second property in the area. Because of our positive experience with our rental, we chose Russian River Realty for assistance with buying the second property. Scott was our agent and he showed us several properties in our price range and was very knowledgeable and open about the pros and cons of each. We ended up with another great property that is now a successful vacation rental. Since then we have looked into a few more properties and as usual RRR was and will continue to be our agent of choice in the Russian River area. We also call them first to inquire about properties of interest, even if they're not listed with RRR, because they will find out the information and get back to you promptly. We highly recommend RRR as they are very professional, easy to work with, and extremely helpful. We have called them a number of times over the years for a variety of reasons such as recommended repairmen, upcoming local events, Sonoma county regulations, etc., and they are always happy to share this information. As a preface, I have only bought one house in my lifetime and have never tried to sell it before, so I don't know what to expect from a listing/selling realtor. My personal situation also changed in the 2 1/2 months that the house was on the market, so that also needs to be taken into account. And in all fairness, sometimes communication just doesn't work well between people. To the point: I was clear from the start of the relationship that I had never sold a house before. I was also clear that I needed enough survival money from the sale to start a new life somewhere. I'm not talking anything fancy; enough to move and share a rental with someone and hope to find employment within 3 months. In short, I communicated as clearly as I knew how to. In the time that I was a client, I felt more like a nuisance and a burden than a customer. The exact details really don't matter much, other than to say if a fair offer comes along and I am willing to make financial concessions, then I think it only fair that the realtor does the same, particularly given the price range my house was in. Apparently my view of the universe is flawed, and my financial survival is relatively unimportant. The house is now off the market for a while. I have little interest in interviewing realtors before the house is listed again, but it seems to be necessary. From my perspective, if I am paying professional prices, I expect professional service. What that means to me is that the process is relatively transparent and pain free, and I have a clear definition of what my part in the whole mess is. That was not my experience. read more

Dropped in to say thank you to Kathryn for listening to my request for new wall-to-wall carpeting after four prosperous years in Guerneville. Also, for not batting an eye, but instead saying, "I understand they do wear out." In a word, Wow. I'm grateful for the considerate reply knowing that years of yard work and deck maintenance are much to blame. Props for the instant attention Kathryn lends to any matter. Speaking of Wow, some of the negative feedback ... Let's not forget, Kathryn is a serious businesswoman tasked with safeguarding the interests of the property owners as well. I love the place, I'm sure Kathryn knows that, and we all put a high value on the integrity of the house and its premises. Considering a prior renter lived here for 13 years and the fortitude it takes to live out here in places, those sagas of horror over application fees or a delayed key come off a little lightweight. The deal is, I had been renting in San Francisco for 15 years so I had pretty much gotten used to shabby treatment from property management companies (despite the minutiae like always paying my rent on time and striving to abide my lease, you know, the little stuff...) Plus, the longer I stayed somewhere, the less interested anyone was in addressing any issue that came up. It got so bad at one place, it was flat-out friggin obvious they were gunning for me to leave so they could re-list at current market value. Onward to big change, so I went scouting in Sonoma County where I found Russian River Realty. I met Kathryn at the house I'm currently renting. Since dealing directly with her, all that prior passive indifference I was forced to put up with ("Yeah, really sorry but there are six units ahead of you, it's a busy time, we're really trying, we're making the transition to new owners, blah blah blah") anyway, all that is history for now, and that's how it should be. My experience in West County is that up front, it's tough to get in anywhere, I mean for real, same deal as in the City (though imagine, if you will, rents based in reality.) Kathryn sticks to reality and keeps the bar high for all invested.To that end, she encourages me to keep her informed of anything that goes wonky, inside or out. Then she gets on it.
