Only giving two stars because of the lovely bartender that served us (didn't catch their name)…read more There was however, another bartender (blonde) that seemed to have some issue with my friend and I being in the bar. We came in around 1:15am, thinking this would be a cool bar to end the night. The first bartender informed us that last call was approaching. We only wanted one round, so we immediately closed out after ordering. That bartender was very attentive and pleasant during the entire transaction. At 1:50am, the other bartender (who wasn't even serving us/hadn't spoke to us) came over and said we needed to start chugging. Her words: "I'm not going to tell you to get the f* out, but you need to chug". She kept telling us we needed to chug, and I kindly told her I wasn't chugging anything because we already paid and I can literally just leave. She brought up the bar closing soon (we already heard the very loud announcement for last call). She proceeded to blame it on having a bad day. Mind you, someone next to me literally just came in, and was being served. She tried to back out of it and kept repeating we'll know when it's time to go. I'm not sure what kind of establishment this is, but she didn't say anything to anyone else but us, the only two Black women at the bar at the time. I don't understand why she felt like it was okay to direct her "bad day" at us, sitting there calmly with two half drunken beers, while there were plenty of other people still up and active at the bar. The behavior displayed, completely unacceptable.

Ten Cat Tavern is pretty divey while being pretty nice at the same time. Kind of has a quiet coolness to it. Lots of cheap drinks and some more expensive stuff as well. As for the drinks it's mostly basic. It's about $6 for a cocktail. The cheapest ones include some pretty cheap whiskey. Also they have cheap cans of PBR. Seems like most people here are drinking beer, and these mostly are in bottles and cans like how a dive bar should. Also has a couple pool tables that somehow fit. The bar is pretty small but the coziness makes it charming though. Pretty clean. The place is dim so it's hard to know for sure. Got to mention for those who couldn't tell by the name that it's also pet friendly. It's usually dogs in here ironically. There's also a jukebox with a good collection of songs, and a few TVs for watching games or things.

I shouldn't be unkind: one of the bar tenders was attentive. The other just stared straight in my friend's face and said "huh?" when she ordered her drink, then vaped in front of us, and took a photo shoot. I've never seen an entire clientele try to be located so far from the bar in my life. Can't possibly be helping the bottom line when no one wants to congregate in the very place you're supposed to be making money.

We didn't try their cocktails but they had a curated cocktail menu for the Stranger Things theme. For a Tuesday night the week of Christmas, it was busy as expected. I have a confession to make: I suck at pinball. Those folks getting the high scores probably have…read morethe reaction time of professional athletes, as well as being able to perfectly foresee where that little ball is going to go. Honestly, such folks would probably make millions playing baseball or something; I couldn't really tell you, I'm not a big baseball guy. But I digress. What makes this barcade so phenomenal is that most of their pinball machines are set to free play! You can play them as much as you wish without spending a dime. As someone who has spent a dollar, only to see "game over" after about two or three minutes, this is what keeps me coming back again and again. They do have bars (yes, multiple!), of course. The drinks are creative, tasty, and not terribly expensive. I also appreciate that at no point during my visit did I feel compelled to order alcohol to play the games. Furthermore, at the time of my visit, they had a Shrek theme going in the bar in the back. It added to the fun atmosphere. That same night, there was a live DJ. While I am not a fan of loud music in a space which is already pretty loud, I appreciate that this is 100% a personal preference. Plus, I have hearing protection with me pretty much always, so it became a non-issue. I do want to point out that some of their machines could use a little bit of preventative maintenance checks and services. For example, one of the pinball machines had a stuck flipper, another a sticky flipper, and the Terminator 2: Judgment Day arcade game had an issue with the controllers (broken button on one, no vibration on another). However, since these are free, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth" comes into play, and I don't feel right dinging them on it. Besides, I realize that mechanical devices are going to break. I recently got stuck in an elevator, so I would know! With all this, Replay Lincoln Park is phenomenal, and I can't wait to return on Friday nights to see if I can make myself into a pinball wizard. Yeah, good luck to me (/s)
