This bar was awesome-- bartender was a guy called Scott who said he'd newly started but actually knew his stuff and converted my "just the one" plan into "I've got to be done at four lagers". Ask him for the Irish jokes-- he beat me at them, had me impressed-- and that's saying something, my Irish joke repertoire is, frankly, formidable. If your an Arsenal or EPL fan or not, do yourself a favor and check this place out.

Ten Cat Tavern is pretty divey while being pretty nice at the same time. Kind of has a quiet coolness to it. Lots of cheap drinks and some more expensive stuff as well. As for the drinks it's mostly basic. It's about $6 for a cocktail. The cheapest ones include some pretty cheap whiskey. Also they have cheap cans of PBR. Seems like most people here are drinking beer, and these mostly are in bottles and cans like how a dive bar should. Also has a couple pool tables that somehow fit. The bar is pretty small but the coziness makes it charming though. Pretty clean. The place is dim so it's hard to know for sure. Got to mention for those who couldn't tell by the name that it's also pet friendly. It's usually dogs in here ironically. There's also a jukebox with a good collection of songs, and a few TVs for watching games or things.

We grabbed a table downstairs, and our server was incredibly friendly and helped get us into the game-day spirit. The entire place was buzzing and you could feel the energy from fellow Cubs fans getting ready to head to the ballpark. The highlight for our kids was definitely upstairs. They spent most of their time in the batting cages and playing the arcade games, and they thought it was the coolest thing ever. It's such a unique experience and the perfect way to build excitement before walking over to Wrigley Field. We kept it simple with a couple of Old Styles and shared an order of nachos before making our way to the stadium. It was the perfect pregame stop. If you're visiting Chicago for a Cubs game, especially with kids, I highly recommend making time for Sluggers. It's fun, unique, and creates the perfect game-day atmosphere.

It's a fun way to mix things up at a bar, and definitely adds to the atmosphere. The place itself has the classic sports bar feel, packed with fans, loud music, and plenty of energy. Drinks were straightforward and the service stayed quick even with the crowd. It's not a quiet spot, but if you want a lively hangout near Wrigley with something extra to do besides just sit at the bar, Sluggers is worth the stop.

But something about this place makes me want to channel my inner Doberman. Let's talk about the staff--the rudest I've encountered in Chicago, with an arrogance that makes you wonder if they moonlight as royal palace guards. * If you're not physically kissing the wall while waiting in line, prepare to be barked at. * Stand patiently in line for the bathroom? They'll glare at you like you just committed a crime. * Try to make their job easier by explaining what's in your pockets before a pat-down? That's apparently "uncooperative." * Step aside to send a quick text? Nope, you're "in the way." * Uber two minutes out in subzero temps? Out you go, even if you're not blocking a thing. This place operates on a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" policy, where even existing seems to be an offense. I'm a respectful guy, but they push my buttons in a way that makes me question my sanity. Respect is earned, and let's just say they're running a serious deficit. The cherry on top? I got elbowed in the nose, ended up with a bloody one, and as I tried to clean up in the bathroom, I was watched like I was about to commit a felony. No concern, no assistance--just judgment. I rarely come here, and every time I do, I'm reminded why that's a solid life choice. Or, in the words of Joey Swole: you need to do better.
