Dr. Boone attended my wife through 9 months of cancer treatment with little or no human compassion…read more During the entire time, he never adressed my wife by her name and I was "Hubby" although I have the easy to remember name of David. During 3 occasions when my wife was hospitalized, Dr. Boone never visited her although he did make rounds. I sought a second opinion from the UCSF second opinion service using the local medical data which proved to be clear, complete and objective and revealed how little Dr. Boone had revealed to us as well as suggesting alternatives which Dr. Boone had never raised. In effect, by witholding the truth, Dr Boone was esssentially lying to us. I emailed the second opinion to Dr. Boone with a request to review it with him, but received no reply. A second email also went unanswered. On the 3rd hospital visit, I was told by complete strangers that my wife had a few days to live and should go to hospice. Dr. Boone was nowhere to be seen. I was told he was "thrilled" she was going to hopice - apparently another patient off his responsibilty. He has never visited my wife in hospice. Although presenting an affable demeaner, Dr. Boone serves only as a mediocre diagnostician and clinician, not a caring physician. I strongly urge those seeking cancer treatment in the Bend, OR area to seek out another physician who would provide more caring treatment and to quickly seek a second opinion to offset witheld information. Dr Neubauer is brilliant and very knowledgeable about oncology. She researches everything, reviewing clinical trials before she recommends anything. She truly cares about her patients. I recommend her highly!

I was so lucky to have Dr. Neubauer recommended to me by my traditional western medicine oncologist. She has added into my treatment the wholistic approach that I have always chosen for my health needs. Because of the type of cancer I had which can be aggressive in nature I wanted a treatment plan that included both tradition and alternative medicine. Dr. Neubauer works very well with the traditional oncologists in town. She is well versed in all alternative practices. I would ask and she always knew what the practice was and who was studying it in the US; as well as research on the practice from other western countries. Cancer can be hard to handle emotionally as well as physically and Katherine's kindness and understanding of this helped me deal with my emotional as well as physical health during this time. I feel that we are so lucky to have someone of her caliber here in Bend.
