I have never experienced a customer service rep more rude than I did at this store. Maggie you should not work with people.

I'm old enough that I remember when Big Lots came to town. There were two versions, Big Lots and…read moreOdd Lots. When you walked in, you'd find cases and cases of random items just sitting in their open cases to be sold. As time went on, they also added buyouts from either store closures or extra inventory from a company. There would be sections of product that were simply inventory from some drugstore that no longer existed. As we see now, Big Lots is just sort of a glorified Dollar General. Which brings me to Ollie's! I saw an ad on TV, and wondered why, since I'd never heard of the place. It turns out that there's one about a half hour away. The commercial was interesting, and the website looked good, so I made the drive to check out OLLIE'S! I was actually kind of excited at first. Some of the categories were very clear and enticing. There was a very large book section, with everything from cook books to graphic novels to coloring books. Their arts supply had some interesting stuff, and there was truly a little bit of everything there. I was reminded of the old Big Lots when I saw the bulk items that were simply case cut and the cases were just all side by side. And let's be clear. The presentation was purely functional, not pretty by any means. Depending on what you are in the mood for, you are either going to be fairly happy or unimpressed with the prices. We picked up some art supplies.... a graphic novel, and a dog toy. The kitchen section had a really good selection of pans, knives, and other things. The lawn and garden section had some interesting items as well. The toys were just not that interesting. There were also pet supplies, cleaning products, and even some clothes. The few prices I checked weren't bad, but weren't exactly a huge savings either. Be careful if you buy ANY food products there. A lot of what I found was expiring within 30 days. Some had already expired, and to add insult to injury, whoever cut the cases cut into the product, so the packaging now let air leak in. These would be the golden oreos that expired a little over a week ago. If you're in the area, it's worth a few minutes of browsing if you want to see if you can find a deal. It's not really worth the drive from Bloomington, though. Between Big Lots, Menards, and Rural King, we've got some places with decent prices.
