This is hands down the best place to get a bike in Heidelberg. Why? Heidelberg is a university town - so used bikes sell at a premium price - but that does not mean that you are getting a premium product. That is what inspired the founders of Ruprecht Rides to set up shop. They have a large array of used bikes for under 100€ specifically because they were fed up with the lack of affordable options in this town. And who were these founders? University students! So you are getting a good deal and supporting students setting up their own business. Win win!
I've purchased two bikes from them over the past year - a mountain bike and a town bike (pictured) for less than 100€ each. (FYI - they also offer higher end bikes as well). They are both holding up quite well. And I'm not an expert biker so they've handled a few bumps and bruises along the way. :) The used bikes come with a 7 day full warranty, which is not a lot, but they do honor it as I did have an incident within the first 7 days of one bike purchase.
All in all, very friendly service, good prices (the only good prices you will likely find in this town), and supporting university students. What's not to like? Go buy a bike! :) read more
