I own a late model Saab that I'll be asking for little repairs now and again. So it's important that I have a mechanic I can trust. I work right next door, so it's convenient, but Burlingame has a lot of repair options. I'll still go there. Auto Fixation is probably the most honest car repair shop I've worked with. Here's a few reasons why: - I needed a series of repairs to a pump. Not only did he advise for the least expensive approach, he thoroughly explained what he was doing. - I bring little repairs (bolt tightening, for example). - If he can't do the repair, he'll refer me somewhere else. - If he can't do the repair in a day, he attempts to fix it enough so I can drive home (I live in the city). He's done this a couple of times. - We talk about "not looking too hard" knowing there are other less than ideal conditions with the car. I don't really want to understand cars, so it's great to have someone like Ken (the owner) explain repairs in a easy to understand manner. My car stalled on the 101, and I was able to make it to an off ramp. I searched on yelp for a nearby shop with good reviews that was caltrain adjacent, which is what led me to Ruppel's. I have to say, the service I received was terrific. Ken predicted the actual cause of my car stalling (broken fuel pump), and he also saw that there was oil in my coolant, which is apparently a common issue with chevy 3.1L engines. He gave me quotes to fix both and mentioned that I should consider trashing the car. I was very surprised by this. Since when does an auto mechanic suggest you not getting work done? I was appreciative of his honesty. When I did more consideration, I had him fix the fuel pump, so that the car would run. I still have to deal with the oil in the coolant issue. He was also very flexible with me. I took several days to decide what to do with my car. I also was not able to pick up my car right away, and he was fine with it being there. read more

Ken saved my life. After I found out today that the reason my tire pressure light has been going off every 2 weeks was because there was a 2-inch nail stuck in it. PSI was down to 23 when it should be 32, and I didn't want to drive around looking for an affordable tire repair shop towards the end of the work day. I work in the same office as Patrick N., so having Ken next door is an absolute convenience. I asked him if he'd be able to fix it and was prepared to ask for a referral if he said no, but he said sure, I'll take a look at it, and fixed it in less than an hour, bringing the culprit - I mean, nail, to me. I called my dealership who I have a package with, and they pretty much told me it would take weeks to figure out what's wrong since I don't have a package. We felt a bump in a tire and found a bolt. Rupple's was near by so we stopped in unannounced. We were helped right away and offered a plug. Ken and his team are the best! We have a 2006 Honda Pilot that was in desperate need of brakes. My husband called them up, and Ken said to bring it on in and let them take a look before giving an estimated quote. Brought the car in, got a call about what needed to be done soon after we dropped it off, gave Ken the green light, and they were done before 3pm (we dropped it off after 8am). This is very long overdue- Ken and the Ruppel's Auto team have been my service center for my old Ford Escape for 3 years now. I'm (overly) attached to the now 12 year old car and through many repairs and problems Ken has performed fairly priced, skillful repairs and tune-ups for my beloved car. I've never felt ripped off, as I have at other service centers previously- coming into a shop as a single woman with little car knowledge its easy to feel intimidated.
