This review is for the university on-campus accommodation. I'm currently working in Bangor and…read morestaying on-site at the university in the Gwynant halls. The rooms are very modern and have an en-suite bathroom. Upon arrival, we were welcomed warmly and given a key-card. Ultra-modern! But beware of forgetting your card and locking yourself out. This happened to someone in our party during the stay and she had no bother in finding a friendly member of staff to help her out. Apparently it costs you £5 if you're a student living here during term-time. The nearby student union, Bar Uno, catered for us during our stay. It certainly does the job, especially being so close to the accommodation. If I was staying here in my free-time, I would prefer to explore the local haunts come dinner-time, but Bar Uno is just fine and staff are friendly and welcoming. There's also a lot to see and do nearby and some interesting areas to explore. From my short stay I would recommend the nearby Beaumaris area for some lovely little cafés and shops. I'd also say that if you're staying at the university, it may be worth venturing a little farther out in Bangor to find a nice pub in the evening.

Although my course at lancaster may not have been the most rewarding (I no longer work in the field…read morein which I studied), that was probably more down to choice than teaching. I enjoyed my 3 years at lancaster and certainly felt comfortable and relaxed within the strong community that existed within the college system. Lots of places to shop and eat on campus means that you rarely need to leave (if you're being lazy). It is a self contained town, but well linked by buses to the outside world. I still head back now and then for a beer at one of the bars and am always welcome, even though I'm no longer a student there.

It has got 2 canteens inside buildings plus heating is left on all the time keeping us warm in those lectures! A lot of courses available to choose from and they are not too picky with what grades you have either making them a good university to choose to study at.

Xaverian College...what a fantastic place…read more This is where I actually became who I am today. I know that sounds silly but this college is fantastic. I learnt more here in two years than I did in five years at high school. The teachers here really bring you out of yourself, they actually care about the students, not just about the grades. I'm still in touch with most of my tutors now, they care what I've been up to since I left and always get in touch to congratulate me on anything I achieve. The range of subjects is vast and the campus keeps getting bigger and better. It's much different to most other colleges as the buildings are spread right out although not too far so you can still walk to all of them comfortably. It's so different to school, everyone is treated as an adult and it was such a good grounding before university, I don't think I'd have been half as prepared for uni if it wasn't for Xaverian.

Spent my second and third year at uni here and was very happy…read more The flats themselves are great with a variety of options regarding number of rooms per flat and double and single rooms etc. there are also family rooms available. All rooms come with en-suite facilities which are great and the kitchen also comes fully equipped with facilities including a dishwasher. The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful, especially the student staff and the security staff who are always on hand to make sure that the residents are kept safe especially late at night. Its in a great location close to both the university and the town centre so everything you need is within walking distance really. The only downside is probably the laundry facilities which can be expensive, in addition to this there aren't many washers and driers available so it can be quite a hassle doing your washing.

Brilliant - the staff and lecturers are really nice. Large lake with plenty of ducks makes the university more like a national park with buildings scattered throughout. Plenty of parking

I…read moredidn't live on campus but lived in halls about 3 miles away so it was a bit of a walk but it was great. Facilities on the campus were great the university bookshop stocked almost everything that you could need. The teachers were great as well exactly what you want from a university, encouraging and helpful. The JCR and student union bars were also good and played host to many good nights out!
