Very affordable (even the food, everything is in the $2-$10 range) and a good size park with plenty of shade on hot days. Be warned though, this place does get packed. All of the water was very cloudy and didn't look appealing to swim in. The place is run by teenagers but believe it or not they are pretty responsible and polite for the most part. They need more bathrooms, when the camps come it's very difficult to try to compete with 100 kids and their counselors using the small bathroom space. read more

We picked this water park from a list and drove an hour and a half from the city. It looks MUCH bigger in the photos. Its really just a kiddie area with kiddie slides and then a big kid slide area with only TWO working slides. And a lazy river. Every water park I've ever been to has had a wave pool. This park didn't have any pool at all. The water also had so much chlorine that all of our eyes burned while playing in it and we weren't even swimming. They also do not offer towels like most water parks and they have coupons online that you can't actually use at the park, only on the boardwalk. To top it off, we came back to our car to find a ticket. The website says they have a parking lot behind the park. There are NO signs directing parking. So we went to the lot behind the park but it was metered. so we had to pay more. The ticket we received was because we backed the car in. Apparently they don't allow rear facing vehicles... There aren't any signs near where we parked that said this. A LOT of cars had tickets. Quite frankly, this should not be a rule unless it is a law because unsuspecting people have no clue and there aren't signs. We finally found a sign on a lamp post about 10 parking spots away from where we parked. there was no way we'd have seen it. I think they do it on purpose to make money ticketing. I'm posting pictures of the area we parked so you can see the LACK of signs stating the rule about backing into a space. (they aren't even spaces..its gravel..) we will be fighting this ridiculous ticket. we will never be going to this park again. read more

I get that it's hard to find hourly help at the end of the summer. Your college kids have gone back to school, high school kids have practices, the others are just sick of working in the heat. But if you're going to open 2 hours later than your website states, you better change the site and update your social media as early as possible, then post signs at the park apologizing greatly for the change in schedule, knowing that many people have likely driven an hour or more and promised their children that they would be going to a water park that day. Having to kill 2 full hours with a little one (especially when the amusements are also closed) is no joke. We also get that you lost the entire 2020 season (and we visited at 2021 season end), so the bit of shabbiness is overlooked. Otherwise this is well worth the cost, especially compared with American Dream. The kiddie pool has various levels for various ages; our 3YO went down the smaller slides at least 5,000 times (I think), and there are larger tubes for older kids. The Lazy River was not well managed; the mob of people waiting for tubes was closing in on the young life guard, who did not have assistance to set up an orderly line. Being 1 of the main water parks in New Jersey this establishment is the only site that chooses to not put specific close times . It was advertised online that the park was a specific rate till "close ". How is the average customer supposed to know that the park closes at 5:30 ? We drove an hour to celebrate our sons 10th birthday thinking we're arriving right on time to enjoy water & rides on a 95 degree day just to get told that they're able to close at any time at the discretion of the staff . It closes when they feel fatigued or if they feel it doesn't have enough customers . When we asked to speak to the owner we were told they won't bother him . So many people we're arriving to this park at 5:30 because the site & even the sign on the door says their park has a special rate starting at 5:30 to close . My party alone was 18 people & while we were arguing with the staff 2 more families arrived under the false advertisement . I hope this park closes down soon , it's ashame they get any business at all considering how unprofessional & unkind they . We got there at 4:00 to take advantage of the discounted ticket price thinking the park closed at 7:30 like it said on the Internet page. Only to be faced with a big handwritten sign on arrival that the park was closing at 5:00!! It was an absolutely gorgeous day!! To warm myself up on such a cold day, I am reminded of a waterpark in the summertime in Keansburg, NJ, known as Runaway Rapids. I remember this park extremely well. While its no Action Park or Hurricane Harbor, it still provides a fun experience. My day camp took field trips here constantly when I was younger, and then when I got older I made a few trips here by my own doing. The water rides are great and the experience is quite friendly. I just would do without the crazy prices for 2 (or 3) hours of fun. At least the snack bar is fair. Definitely come out here for a nice few hours in the summer. Across the street is a fun amusement park/boardwalk experience right on the water that you would also enjoy. read more

This park loses a star because: - Some of the tallest slides remained closed all day - No water fountains (bring your own water or pay crazy prices) - The water cannons all broken - Slow ticket booth line On the positive side: - Nobody really kicked us out when our time had expired - You can easily sneak in your own water or food - They didn't enforce any crazy rules prohibiting bathing suits with zippers - Friendly lifeguards kept lines moving well - Never waited more than 10 minutes for a ride; usually less than 5 minutes I thought the price was reasonable for what you get. read more

We went today. Dirty dirty dirty. There was random paper masks and garbage floating in the lazy river. I asked if they could have someone skim it and they said they didn't have anyone you would have to get a manager and they prob wouldn't do it. They aren't clear about what slides are open when you arrive, so if your child only likes certain ones they may not be open and at $35 each to get in you want to make sure you get your moneys worth. We came here on July 4th and it was busy but not unpleasantly crowded. I've given it 4 stars because it is quite clean. It was a good time for us and the kids. Our toddler had a lot of fun in the kiddie area and with us in the lazy river. The slides my family went on seemed pretty tame. There are 2 faster looking ones they skipped. It's a pretty small water park which may contribute to the 3 hour limit. I almost gave 3 stars because I think it's pretty pricey... $28 for 3 hours... And the max you can stay is 3 hours. That's just kind of odd. I guess it's their way of managing the crowds but for 4 people, between entrance, locker and food, we spent at least $150 for a 3 hour excursion. That's pretty steep. But it was a good time and like I said l, clean. Which is important to me. Thus the 4 stars. We may return next summer. read more

Do not book a party here. Waste of money. Very unprofessional and lack of communication. Hi, I had a party for my son their July 7th at 1pm. I am very disappointed at the way my party was handled. I spent close to $400 and I was embarrassed by the host, and lack of communication when I booked the party. I will never book a party here again or recommend this place. I was not told that me and my guests would not have a designated area for the 3 hour party, my guests had no refreshments when we arrived after driving an hour and no where to sit and enjoy the guests for 2 hours. Usually when I book a party at another place they have designated seating. We arrived and was left confused about here to go and I had to ask for drinks for my guests. The hostess was not organized and did not put out the decor before calling us to the table that they gave us for an hour if that, could not light the candles, and didn't bother to bring my party favors and set it up which I had to ask for at the end of the day while my guests left without them. Then she approaches my guests and I says their is problem with my card and I need to se the manager in front of my guests. Meanwhile it was a problem with their new system that they had just got. They couldn't see if my charges went through or not. I also felt like we were rushed during eating and the cake because other hostesses kept coming over talking to our hostess about another party that has to be done. It's a small water park located right next to amusement park. There are a few really cool slides and the lines are never too long. However I hate the fact they only allow you a max of 3 hours to stay and actually enjoy it. You have a choice between two or three hours to play in the water park and it also closes earlier then actual amusement park, which by the way is open much later. It's clean and the staff is pretty friendly. Good for all ages even adults. My kids are older so we kept our stuff to a central spot and kept a checking in on each other. The place isn't big at all and only one way in and out. We went with other people who had a kid just a few years younger then mine and he was a runner, but we were still able to keep an eye on everyone. You can pay for your park entrance fee with a card but $5 Cash All Day Parking (this parking let's you go to the water park, amusement park and the beach) $11 Cash for a locker at the water park and you get $5 back when you return the key. $$Cash money for food at the water park. The food there looked better than the food at the amusement park. Guess which one we had? #3 What to bring inside. The lockers are not that big. Standard small-medium sized lockers. Like 1 large back pack will fit (the size of 2 shoe boxes). No food is allowed but nobody was checking bags. They sell fried foods, dippin dots and frozen drinks. No salads or fruits and vegetables were sighted. Bring your own towels, sunscreen, toiletries for a shower afterwards if you want. Water shoes or flip flops. A lot of folks were walking around barefoot. That's not my cup of tea but they did. You do not have to rent a space or chairs. It's included. Some people just drop their towels, flip flops and sunscreen at the chairs and go have fun. You leave your valuables in the lockers. We spent 2 hours here. I have 2 teens and they were happy. We wanted to go to a water park that was not as intense as one that we visited years ago. There's a kiddie water park side and LIFE VESTS for the little ones! There are weight limits on all the slides so some of us had to go on only some of the slides due to the weight restrictions. That's fine. We loved the lazy river. There are no pools where you can just chill and swim back and forth, do cannon balls or diving. There are restrooms and showers in the park. There is a small fee for those people that do not want to get wet and they will just watch and get some sun in. It's called a spectator fee. The waiting times in line for a water slide was not long at all. I really like that. It's basic, very basic but we liked it for what it was worth. I took my kids (7 and 9) on Friday. We drove 3+ hours from Maryland and when we got there, management had closed the park for the day (shades of Wally World from the Vacation movie). I asked the staff about what had happened and told them my story. They gave me 4 free passes for another trip and we used our Friday tickets on Saturday (we weren't planning to stay an extra day but decided to last minute). Once inside, several of the staff members recognized me at the snack bar and also treated us to free food. They made a bad situation really good by the way they acted. I used to come to Runaway Rapids Waterpark in Keansburg for many years and 2019 will be my last. Don't wast your time and money going here because you will be ripped off and disappointed. My children and I arrived at 11am, an hour after the park opened, and purchased wristbands for 3hrs. I noticed that all the rides were still not open,so I asked the attendant if the rides will be opening and she replied that the "power tower" which has about 5 slides that are available for adults and older children, will open sometime between 12-1pm. By 1:30pm the tower finally opened however only the top two highest slides were opened and available, the rest of the lower slides were all closed. The kiddies slide area was open however my 11 year old was denied to go on these water slides because the lifeguard stated that she my 11 years daughter was too tall to go on the smaller slides. This meant that she had no slides to go on in this water park which we paid full price in admission. Two top slides on the power tower were too tall and little more intense. So if you have a child that likes a more subtle slide and not too high, and if your child is 54inches tall or more, then Runaway Rapids at Keansburg cannot accommodated your child. When I tried to bring my 3 year old on the kiddie slide area (kids below 54inches) where they have smaller slides about one and two story high, I was denied to go on the slide with my child who was terrified to go on for the first time alone. Lifeguard stated that "parents are NOT Allowed to accompany their child on the kiddie slides". My child was very upset as was I. We had paid $115 to get into the park and now we're left with minimal access to water slides and rides. Lifeguards we're clueless and very rude. I went to buy food in the water park at the small food stand. When I walked up to the counter to order food I noticed all the staff sitting on top of the food prep counters. Two of the girls had baiting suit like shorts on and were sitting on top of the counters with their legs up. This was right next to the fryer and sink. I found this to be very unsanitary and a very unprofessional way to handle food. The park overall was very dirty, and looks like it's falling apart. Doesn't looks like there is any upkeep or maintenance being done. Floor is patchy, careful not to hurt your feet especially in the kiddie area. Many of the sprinkles, jets, slides are not working. Unfortunately there was garbage everywhere, it never used to be like this before. Park doesn't feel family friendly at all anymore. I been coming to Runaways Rapids since 2010 and 2019 will be the last. Sad to see such a nice family palace go so bad, Keansburg is not what it used to be. read more

This is a smaller waterpark, but a good place to go and cool off. This is the third year that I have been here with my sons school and we had a great time. The main attraction is a play area that has multiple slides and water spouts in a small lagoon area. There is a very large bucket that fills with water and every few minutes the bucket dumps a huge amount of water on everyone below. If you have really little kids there is a smaller area that is enclosed for them to play in a safe environment. For the bigger kiddies and adults there are several larger water slides and rope swings. You also get a great work out since many of the bigger slides have allot of stairs and you carry your own tube. The one thing that I like is that there are plenty of staff members watching the park. read more

Cost almost eighty bucks for the three of us for two hours. Many attractions not open. Even the silly water shooting guns weren't working right. I arrived to the park at 2:00 pm expecting to stay with my kids for three hours. After one hour (3 pm) they started closing half of the attractions and announced that the park would close at 4:00 pm because "the day was slow". What disrespectful and inconsiderate to the customers that were already there. Ah water parks, a great place for a family to gather. I went with a couple of friends today and it was my first time going to this one. I'm not a fan of water parks because of the bacteria and germs everywhere, but this one was 5/10 clean. I had a couple of problems with the lifeguards because they were nasty, which I understand, but that's never an excuse. The lifeguards and workers seemed like they hated their jobs. The water was not clean in the lazy river. There were dead bugs, leaves, grasses, etc floating around. Despite all this, my experience was ok.
