Just had a call from a member of the Carlton Run Property team looking for local brokers in the area to obviously take a massive cut from any deal they spam and refer to their rental property list. Not happy enough speak with the Manager he wanted the owner of a multi national co. directly and simply hung up when he was unable to speak with him immediately. My first experience with RUN was about six years ago. Their juggernaut of a company took over the smaller real estate company handling my property and after several dealings I am fairly unimpressed with their level of professionalism and overall service. Being a renter the estate agent isn't something you are able to choose unfortunately, and after years of amicable private rental I was quite.....displeased......to learn the real estate for my current house was again RUN. Not going to give the run down of their failings, too tedious and lengthy. I will say that our prior RUN representative left quickly and her replacement was quick to comment on her below par performance. I will admit that the new agent has been helpful and finally made stuff happen. RUN feels like a big machine taking on investors with huge portfolios that dont really care about the properties just their return on equity. YES I know thats what business is all about, but these are homes to people. AND I get the feeling that these "professionals" who play dress ups in Target corporate wear still live with mum and dad in the burbs, not actually renting. Rent rant over. read more

How many times can you lose a bond transfer form in the space of three months? Five times, apparently.

I rented a property managed by Run Carlton for about 2.5 years and it was by far my worst experience in 11 years of renting. They were absolutely unresponsive to requests, and when trying to get basic things sorted out I often had to call and email over five times to get anything to happen. On more than one occasion I threatened to go to VCAT. They never organised a six month inspection, or any other inspection. I would absolutely never ever put them in charge of any property i owned. As far as I can tell, they skimmed money from our landlords for 2.5 years in return for absolutely zero service or property management. Even after giving back the keys and the receipt for the end of lease cleaner, I had to hassle them to return my bond. For the record it was returned in full. Although I'd like to think that's because I was a neat and respectful tenant, it was probably because they didn't bother visiting the property to do an inspection before returning the money. Absolutely avoid this place if you can. read more
