On the way out from the centre of Burton on Trent towards Burton Railway Station is Rumbletums, a cafe specialising in breakfasts and lunches. Only three tables to seat four people each and a bar stool table on the inside, and a solitary table outside, Rumbletums is a place that fills quickly. Adorning the walls are boards with various breakfasts on like Banjo, Full Monty and Vegetarian. All quite different, and all remarkably reasonable in price. They even do a breakfast butty, that uses a whole steamer loaf sliced into three packed with bacon, sausages, eggs etc. Lunch wise, there is impressive range of Panini's and jacket potatoes, with a great range of fillings like Chicken Tikka, Tuna Mayo. On the day we visited, it was mid morning, so we opted for toast and a sausage cob. We also had four mugs of tea and coffees between us too, no fancy teas or cappuccinos here! You could have doorstep toast if you wanted, and the sausage cob came in three sizes, the medium was enough for two of us! Rumbletums also does outside catering and supplies breakfasts and lunches to local businesses. Rumbletums is great place, good honest food, lots of it and friendly staff. read more
