In the 20+ acres you have all the reg farm animals to feed. Theres a couple of rides , bouncy castle and toy tractors to skoot around on. All this could be done in drizzly weather with wellys on but if its really bad theres a massive indoor play area. they have a small area for babys and toddlers thats well padded and keeps them entertained for ages. The older kids have lots to climb and the tallest slides i have ever seen. my heart was in my mouth watching the kids come down it , but they thought it was wicked. The farms very easy to find as burnham-on -sea isnt a big place to get lost in. well worth a visit :)

Also it has paddocks with animals in (such as cows, lamas etc.) which you can feed and indoor barns with pigs and horses in. There are three main play areas - one for older children with big climbing frames to play on and in - one shaped like a horse is always a big hit! There is a sand pit in the middle great for younger children if you have older ones on the play equiptment. The second play area is for under 6's and is full of little houses which my little ones love, running in and out of the houses. There is also a play barn with straw - which is a bit annoying as the children come out covered in it but they have loads of fun! There is a large picnic area with a few lovely climb on statues, and chickens and ducks wandering around. There is also lots of walks and well signed routes around the farm, along the river and through fields. In the warm weather there is a river to paddle in. In the summer they have tractor rides - a pound each but always a hit! Animals - they dont have many but they have enough to entertain young children - a few pigs, cows, sheep, donkeys, and a little petting area with rabbits, peacocks and chickens. Really the main emphasis is on playing so teh animals are more of a sideline i feel. There is a restaurant and a cafe which is ok, fairly standard fair and not excellent but does the job. There is also a butchers and a bakers - lovely good quality meat. All in all a nice afternoon out - busy in school holidays but very quiet in term time. Its a £2.50 donation each - they leave it to you to put it in the tubs around the farm. Closed on a monday.

Possibly would have awarded this four stars if with younger children as it was aimed more at them. It was a little tame for the tastes of both hubby and my six year old son. I thought it was kind of charming - but perhaps not worth paying £12.00 a head for. The actual building is stunning from the outside and you cannot fault the views over the cove below. Inside the castle its been kitted out like a museum and is mostly home to toys, puppets, dolls and pier type animatronics and slot machines from yesteryear. Very interesting - but only enough to keep you occupied for an hour or so unles you are a fanatic. One whole room devoted to a large model railway- if you like that kind of thing. Also some grisly dungeons, and displays of old tools and farming appliances with some fairly educational information. Inside, and in fact then all the way around the park are amusement games and interactive displays which are made up from reconditioned old pier attractions. These are fascinating - but do be prepared with a ton of 1p- 10p coins to get them going - none of it is free! Outside there are a selection of childrens rides, again fairly traditional and slow paced - so more for the very young. Also there is gnome land which is bizarre, cute and disturbing in equal measures. There is a whole village of houses, pubs, etc,. where these gnomes live, and you can peer through the windows and observe them in their daily lives. Set in Woodland its very picturesque and mildly entertaining for adults - I am guessing young girls would enjoy this most. Hubby insists the gnomes were all models - but I am not sure!! Lots of traditional fun to be had also with crazy golf, a huge slide, and water fountains/ interactive displays. Not sure how you would fair in bad weather as most of the action was outside. If you prefer genteel and thought provoking rather than action-packed you may enjoy it here.

I found the prices fairly expensive as for a child over 14 years it is 12 pound so straight away that's 24 pound gone. My daughters got in for free so I suppose that was a good thing. My daughters favourite thing was when they were walking around part of the site where they had these little boxes where they had to press the button and when they did there favourite nursery rhymes played and little puppets inside moved. They were both racing to press the next one. They also enjoyed the water/light show I remember seeing this when I was younger. My favourite bit was watching them trying to find the golden nuggets amongst the sand. Other things that are at the site are: rides, tilting house for you to try and walk around in, old slot machines for you to play on, walk around the grounds, go through the gnome land and lots more, mini golf. Overall I would say this is a great place to go but I probably would only go there once a year.

The atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful and the abundance of cute greedy animals desperate for you to feed them is nothing short of delightful. Their animals range from goats and sheep to chickens to cows right over to the more unusual llamas and highland cows. Even if you're not into getting close to the animals or feeding them the buckets of food available at the ticket office, just watching them mooch around is still fun and relaxing. The llama took somewhat of a disliking to me (was it something I said?) and stormed at me, looking like it could easily clear the fence and gain its freedom. I wasn't going to hang around to find out. One look at my pathetic retreating hide running off into the distance was enough to reduce its anger to mere disdain, and instead he decided to spit all over me. In some sort of random heroic act, the pig sharing its pen flung itself at the llama as if to take the blow for me, and rather than reflect on the llama soaking I'd been given, I instead watched this pig take one for the team. Right in the eye, no less. From hereonin, I shall name this pig SuperPig. If you do have kids you can pretend are the reason for visiting, there's plenty to keep them occupied. Other than the animals you can feed, there are talks and handling sessions with some of the smaller or baby pets throughout the day. There's also a nice adventure playground and a couple of trampolines to wear them out on too. There's a small gift shop and a place to buy some food, as well as a picnic area if you're sensible enough to bring your own food. We decided to visit on bank holiday Monday. It was a beautiful hot and sunny day which was a good start to our visit. We have a 1 year old little girl who absolutely loves animals and is used to visiting our local community farm in Windmill Hill. We struggled across the stoney forecourt with our pushchair and saw the sign on the door of the cafe asking us to go in to pay, the entrance fee was about £5 per adult. The lady who greeted me was friendly and cheerful and we spoke about the wonderful change in weather in true British style!! We spent about an hour wandering around the various animals, all the animals seemed to be healthy and happy and their living quarters were extremely spacious and clean, our favourites were the sheep, geese and wallabies, we even got to see a baby wallaby in its mother pouch, the information about the animals was very informative and easy to read with just the right amount of information. When we had finished looking at the animals we went and played in the park for a while, the swing for babies was really good and my little girl really enjoyed it, it was surprisingly quiet for a bank holiday Monday and we didn't have to queue to use the swing (we nearly always have to in our local park) Before we left we decided to sit down and have a drink and an ice cream, the ice cream was local and was absolutely delicious, it cost £4.90 for 2 cans and 2 tubs of ice cream which i think is pretty reasonable, So in summary for a nice 1/2 day out the Chew valley farm is definitely a good choice, the £5 entry price is OK considering that you get to see such a wide variety of animals but it does mean that I won't be visiting every week, not sure if they offer any kind of membership but I would probably be interested in it if it was available.

My 10 year old drove a real SUV for the first time and then a back hoe. We operated excavators and they are was harder to use than I thought. It was so much fun and educational! We got so much bang for our buck. I would totally recommend it to anyone! I do wish they sold a toy of the SUV my son drove and I wish there were souvenirs with less happy excavations on tgem but really it was amazing! The brilliance of the park is that these are all repurposed vehicles. The park offers the same entertainment as other parks with minimal materials in it's creation. The excavator is still an excavator. It's brilliant!

It's hardly going to be a bun fight (though that'd be fun too). What's more you actually get to ride in these bad boys. Come on now what's not to love. The kids (and us "grown ups") can have a go on dumper trucks, mini diggers and get this; a giant digger. All supervised co course but it's motoring madness gone wild. You'll also learn about the world of the digger and you can grab a quick burger and drink at the Dig Inn. So poop, poop for a day of motorised action that won't get you arrested on one of those videos the internet has so many of these days (I needed the money).

It could really benefit from a few signposts. Luckily for us we had some half price vouchers as the place is would be quite expensive for a large family. On entry children are assigned a wristband and with a bar coded receipt given to the parent so that a child can't leave or be taken by another parent as they are both connected. This is a pretty good idea as other venues just give you the wristband and you sign in. The venue is huge with lots of different activities for a range of ages. Wasn't happy seeing the snacks and drinks machines as I think the well stocked cafe would have been ample. It was surprisingly packed but we were quite concerned that on a coldish day, the air con was at its highest so we were sat shivering and averse to taking our shoes off. Even running around after the little one for 3 hours didn't help much. Just before lunch Jumping Beans (not exactly sure what the suit portrayed, bear or dog) held a free dance session in the football area for all of the under 4's. This was really cool and a wonderful idea. The cafe menu was reasonably priced but for fussy eaters the option to bring food in would be beneficial. A good day out, would score higher if we hadn't been chilled by over zealous air con.
