No exaggeration by far THE WORST haircut I've had in years!!! A perfect example of style over substance. The stylist said all the right things and proceeded to do the exact opposite of what we talked about. The slight trim on tip turned in to a total scalping taking my decent head of hair to an Action Man style crop with a weird longe fringe! She did everting I asked her not too, way too short, a round shape not square which was the number one thing I said I didn't want and hacked off the areas I said I was growing. Bad bad BAD! Price - 4 Service - 5 Ambiance - 5 I loved it here. My only request is that all babers should have a set of balding clippers. I know most people will say use the shaver then the razor however I always break out. Also, using balders makes it quicker while still providing a close shave on your hear for black men. Besides that my barber was extremely polite, professional and he gave great suggestions. $30 for bald and a beard is a little high however I plan on returning here everytime that I visit London. read more

Nice haircut and very very quick! The booking is a 45min slot however my haircut including wash and a mini head massage was complete within only 25 minutes! Recommended if you are in a rush and want a good haircut but for the price I would go to other top barbers in London where they do spend at least 40mins on your hair in a standard 45min slot. read more

Being from America, I find it difficult at home to find a great barber that really knows their stuff. After failing at several other places, I stumbled across Ruffians. I made an appt and decided to give it a shot. I was greeted by friendly staff that offered me a hot or cold beverage so I opted for the coffe as the day was chilly. I saw a few people drinking the whiskey... How cool! After only a couple minutes waiting (I was early) I was greet by Jason. His big beard hid his demeanor, but I found him to be very knowledgable and skilled at his work. After a bit of chat he delivered more than my expectations! I will definitely come back! What a great experience. Now.... Just need one in America near me :) read more

This place is wonderful. It's so smooth running considering it has only been open for three months. My boyfriend arrived as a walk in customer and they quickly found him an opening. He only had to wait 10 minutes before being taken back to the chair. During this time, we were offered an assortment of drinks and refreshments while we waited. The fresh tea that was brewed for us just hit the spot. I was afraid that I'd be so bored while I waited for him, but the receptionist Jane was so nice that we ended up talking for the whole 45 minutes. It was great value for great service. I took to Yelp to find a good barber while on a business trip to London. Ruffians lived up to the positive reviews. I'm normally an old fashioned 10 minute barber shop guy. This place takes pride in every scissor cut. I think I was in Tony's chair for 45 min. Nice atmosphere and complementary beer, coffee, tea, etc... Glad I stopped in. Ps: not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. read more

The staff at ruffians are very welcoming and helpful. Ruffians offers a high end male grooming service. My hair cut took about 45 minutes but had a lot of care and attention, the barber was extremely friendly so the time flew by. The cut is a bit pricy but I definitely think it's worth it. read more

I was drawn to this Nostalgic Barber Shop today after trolling through Instagram to find someone's work I liked. I found Richard Tucker's page and called immediately to get a spot on my short trip to London. He was unavailable but by some miracle Jason had an opening that worked for me. My husband and I are hair stylists and rarely do we let another person touch our hair- but I needed a tidy up and my husband was back in the States. It was fantastic to have someone as passionate about his craft as I am to share their talent. I received an incredible shampoo, cut and styling. Jason is very detail oriented and gave me just what I needed to look and feel my best. This Barber Shop is a throw back to everything going and getting your haircut or a fresh shave should be. Fantastic barber and men's hair salon. The vibe is hipster, cool but not over the top. Barbers are so friendly. I had Eliot who was really sweet and I liked her cut. She understood my hair, gave me great recommendations, and did a great job. I would definitely come back! They also offer you a free drink and take your coat/bag for you. 30 mins cut is £30 if your haircut is simple. Otherwise it's £50. read more

Really uncomfortable. The receptionist here is not very friendly and this place is all show and no substance. Had the sales pressure to get a haircut, they pressurised me into making an appointment. All the haircuts from this place are very samey and no better than the local Turkish barber who charges a great deal less and doesn't try to make you feel 'special' which is actually really tiresome and if i wanted to buy grooming products i would also just go to Superdrug or Boots, it's all the same stuff at the end of the day despite the printing of logos etc etc read more

This was one of the best haircuts and shaves I have gotten. The experience is top end throughout - from the welcome drinks to the styling consult to the shampooing and the three hot towels provided during the shave. My barber Linda was friendly, professional, and did a fantastic job with my hair - taking into account my requests but also not being afraid to offer suggestions. Accompanied my husband to Ruffians by Covent Garden as he needed an urgent haircut. The price is quite high (£50/haircut) however I liked his style and he said he got a nice shoulder massage as well. They also offer tea/coffee/lager beer on the house. read more

So I'm getting married this week and I decided that even the groom deserves to get pampered! I thought a good idea would be to get a good haircut and a proper straight razor shave. I looked online and finally decided that Ruffians was the place for me. I arrived promptly at 13:00 for my appointment and I was instantly shown to the very comfortable waiting area and offered a drink. The coffee is really good by the way. Before I even had my coffee in my hand I was whisked away to a barbers chair at the back of the shop by Hari, one of the many hirsute barbers. A charming gentleman and very knowledgeable in the ways of barbering. After a trim of my hair we got down to the serous business of shaving. This is something that I don't do very often at home let alone at a barber shop with a straight razor! Cleansing, hot towel, lather, shave, moisturiser, hot towel, moisturiser, cold towel. And a very relaxing neck, shoulder and arm massage. Smooth as a baby's backside by the end of it as feeling properly looked after. It's hard to believe that it only lasted 50 minutes! It's not cheap so probably something I wouldn't get done more than once a year. But I can guarantee you I'll be back there again! read more

A few weeks ago, I had this Thundercats' Lion-o thing going on with my hair and decided it was definitely time for a cut. Having tried so many places in London over the past few years, finally finding someone I liked though the lovely person decided to move back to Hungary (d'oh), I was back to square one. After much deliberation, I called Ruffians. They were very friendly on the phone and laughed with me asmy nervous speech impediment made me blurt out what felt like about 100 words in the first 5 seconds. The cut itself was good; my guy and I had a good chat beforehand about what I wanted, or at least thought I wanted, wash cut dry etc, and we had a good chat too. Ooh, there was a very nice cup of tea involved which definitely would have raised the rating from the current 4 outta 5 stars. The ONLY thing, and this is also kinda my fault for not asking, but assuming, a place to get my hair cut in Covent Garden would be anything less, but there wasn't a mention nor did I see any signs of a price for this service I received so when I was told it was £35, though I think a fair price (+/-10%) I was a little shocked. But overall a good experience. read more

Best barber experience ever! They are very proud of there craft and enjoy sharing there knowledge. Can't get much better with coffee or whisky while you soak up there rustic yet modern space while perusing there shop featuring essential man stuff and grooming products. Hands down beats the Art of Shaving back in the states. We enjoyed our early am walk covent gardens to Ruffians and the well papered high & tight fades. The barbers shared local knowledge of the area and provided suggestions as we planned the rest of our day. I defiantly will make this journey again for another great experience. read more

I don't usually write reviews but thought I would for Ruffians as trying to find the right place to get your hair done requires reviews! To begin with, going somewhere which cost £45 was a big decision, but I decided to treat myself. However, as I suspected, it wasn't worth it. Pros: Lovely space, great layout, feels like a barbershop and very trendy. Cons: It definitely wasn't worth the money. Don't get me wrong, the hairdresser was lovely and we had a great chat, but it was all over in about 25 minutes. I didn't even get my hair washed (I got asked "Do you want a hairwash or maybe best to leave it?") and I left feeling short-changed. I had to even it out a bit when I got home and a couple of weeks later, It's growing a bit awkwardly. I got coffee in a cheap take-out cup (first world problem I know - but are they trying to save on the washing up?!) I won't be going back and I'll be going to another salon I've found which is only £30 and seems less pretentious. read more

Full of anticipation of a good experience, but left the Ruffians in Covent Garden wondering what had gone wrong. My '45 minute' shave experience took 35 minutes with Betty. The best word I can find for it is 'perfunctory' - she went through the motions, quickly. The 'massage' was dreadful. It took a while for the gift card I wanted to use for part payment to be 'found' on the system. A payment for the balance was taken, but apparently failed. A second payment was taken, but apparently failed. Not a technical failure - just no paper in the payment machine. The first payment was refunded. 30 minutes later, I get a call saying neither payment had actually gone through. Poor, poor service, in a variety of ways. read more

Don't recommend this place at all. All style, no substance. Trendy vibe, nice atmosphere, sure - however, the cut I got was very uneven, and I don't mean on-trend uneven, I just mean incompetent! To add insult to injury, I went back, got a more senior person correct the cut - who admitted the other cutter must have been 'having a bad day' but I still ended up with nothing more than an 'ok' cut that you'd get for £15 elsewhere not the £45 I had to pay here.
